FFVII Remake Sonon

Square Enix shared new details about Sonon Kusakabe’s design in FFVII Remake Intergrade. Sonon is a warrior of Wutai, and he acts as Yuffie’s partner during the Episode INTERmission DLC campaign. Sonon’s design is inspired in part by Japanese samurai armor, in contrast to Yuffie’s design which is inspired by ninjas.

The tweet shared by the official FFVII Remake Twitter account showed a render of Sonon. The caption noted that, as Sonon is from Wutai, the red parts in his outfit were inspired by the plating in Japanese samurai armor. However, Square Enix also reminded people that Sonon himself attached and adjusted the red armor parts to his clothing, gloves, and gauntlet as a DIY project.

Additionally, the tongue in Sonon’s sneakers includes a black circle design featuring the relief of a stylized Chocobo in it. The detail is barely visible during gameplay, but it can be better appreciated in the renders.
