Elden Ring Patch 1.02.2 fixes Fire Giant bug and graphics card bug on PC and save progression on PS5

FromSoftware released Elden Ring patch 1.02.2, which fixes various graphical issues and game crashes on PC and improves saving on PlayStation 5. One such Elden Ring bug would cause players' games to crash upon meeting certain conditions during the Fire Giant boss fight. Other bug fixes include one where the PC version of the game would not use the computer's graphics card. The patch is immediately available for PC and PS5.

The Elden Ring version 1.02.2 patch notes are as follows:

PC:

  • Fixed an issue where the graphics card was not being used, resulting in slow performance.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the game to quit under certain conditions during a battle with the Fire Giant.
  • Fixed other bugs.

PS5:

  • Changes to save game progression even when the game is not terminated.

It's unclear whether the graphics card issue is the cause of recent problems surrounding Elden Ring's frame rate drops on PC. The previous 1.02 patch addressed various graphical issues and frame rate drops "under certain conditions." However, some players still report poor graphical performance despite having computer specs above the recommended level.

Furthermore, the PS5 version of the game suffers from sudden crashes mid-game. In some cases, players' consoles will turn off without warning. In order to combat this, the 1.02.2 patch has implemented save game progression even in cases players do not exit the game themselves.

Elden Ring is immediately available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. If you're interested in learning more about the game and its performance, you can check out our official review.
