The Kamotsuru Sake Brewing Company in Hiroshima is teaming up with Sega and Nexus to release a commemorative sake for the launch of Like a Dragon Gaiden. The wine is a daiginjo, which is usually the best sake from a brewery. The collectible drink costs 5500 JPY ($36.85) and will be released on November 9, 2023.

The sake, which is fittingly called the “Dragon of Dojima,” comes in a box that Kamotsuru made in Kiryu’s image. It has a “chic” and “expensive-looking” black design to express Kiryu’s cool and strong-willed personality. As for the wine itself, it uses Hiroshima rice and water from subterranean rivers in the Kamotsuru mountains. According to Sake Tsunagi, which sells it, it has a light and mild flavor that goes well with food.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is a spin-off title that follows Kiryu after he fakes his death and finally frees himself from the yakuza. Due to circumstances out of his control, he once again has to return to the underground world. Though not exactly a mainline entry in the long-running Like a Dragon series, Gaiden seems to tie into the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which will come out in 2024.

The Like a Dragon Gaiden Kiryu sake is open for pre-order, and it’ll ship out on November 9, 2023. It is only available in Japan. Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will launch on November 9, 2023, for the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
