Armored Core VI Gameplay Briefing Shows Battle

As promised, Bandai Namco and Fromsoftware revealed new looks at Armored Core VI gameplay in a briefing. The video presentation offered a peek at both active exploration, battles against different kinds of enemies, and AC customization. Different environments were showcased, as well as enemies that could be the same size as or much larger than our unit.

The Armored Core VI gameplay briefing began with 621 landing on Rubicon in search of Coral. We see it land, then learn how the stages the AC will explore will be multilayer. There can be up to four weapons equipped at once, with two on the shoulders and one on each arm. After seeing the AC destroy some enemies, it uses Assault Boost to jet down to a ruined highway near a city below. From there, the footage showed what it’s like to fight on the ground or in the air. Vertical catapults also exist to help propel the AC and provide more airtime. For example, in the footage this came up right before what looked to be a boss fight against a PCA heavy combat helicopter.

After showing how the Assembly feature allows someone to exchange AC parts at will, such as the head, core, weapons, it showed off a fight against a gigantic boss. 621 was sent on an Arquebus Group’s Schneider subsidiary request to destroy the Rubicon Liberation Front’s stolen STRIDER mobile resource base and mining ship at Belius’ Bona Dea Dunes. The goal is to take out its Eye laser cannon, which also means destroying sub-generators to remove the shield around it. After that, AC duels also come up and appear and we see the boss BALTEUS

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will come to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on August 25, 2023.
