Aniplex will release several 4K ultra HD Blu-Rays of past anime movies in Japan starting from September 27, 2023. The majority of the movies are older fare, such Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa. The only date that we know for certain is the September 27, 2023 release of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. [Thanks, KaroshiMyriad!]
As mentioned earlier, the only release date we know is the one for the two Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann movies. The other movies, like the Fullmetal Alchemist ones, will come out later on. Aniplex will release:
- Anohana the Movie: The Flower We Saw That Day
- Boruto: Naruto the Movie
- Fate/stay Night Heaven’s Feel
- Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa
- Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos
- Gintama: The Very Final
- Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale
- The Anthem of the Heart
All of these movies came out within the past twenty years and were major releases for Aniplex. It’s unknown whether Aniplex plans on releasing more 4K ultra HD movies from its past catalog after this batch. More information on prices and how to purchase them will come out closer to the release date.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann the Movie will come out on September 27, 2023. Aniplex will release its other past titles following that date.
