Assassin's Creed Valhalla Will Be A "Really Good Capper" For The Franchise

A trailer for the upcoming 2020 entry in the Assassin's Creed saga reveals the new game is called Valhalla--confirming the rumors that the next game will take place in The Viking Age. Assassin's Creed Valhalla will touch on many of the mainline games that came before it, essentially capping the series that first started back in 2007.

"As far as [Valhalla's] story goes, we do continue the story that began in Origins and continued in Odyssey," Assassin's Creed Valhalla narrative director Darby McDevitt said in an interview with GameSpot. "We take that and we build on it in a big way. We also did a lot of thinking about how to connect all the games, at least the lore of all the games, to make it feel like everything we've done over the past dozen games has little feelers and little entry points into this game."

"So, it's not only the continuation of the Odyssey storyline, it's a really good capper for what has come so far," McDevitt continued. "I don't want to give the impression it's the last game. That's something I want to avoid, but it's a good summation."
