If you frequent the OG realms of Azeroth, you’ve no doubt seen the buzz surrounding the venerable “HC” (amidst the LFG and innuendo posts that otherwise flood the general chat channel).

Since it was first revealed in June, the notion of a hardcore version of World of Warcraft Classic has got everyone prepping themselves for the devastation of permadeath, plying their trades in the PTR (public test realm) servers while they wait for the real thing.

The Best Legend of Zelda Games: All 20 Ranked

9 months 1 week ago

Nintendo has kept the Zelda franchise going for decades—almost 40 years, in fact. In that span of time, we’ve been graced with dozens of games, though some admittedly feel like bunts rather than homeruns. With Tears of the Kingdom being a massive success, let’s take a look at the Legend of Zelda series and rank the games from worst to best.

Note: Due to the expansive nature of the Legend of Zelda series, spin-offs have been omitted from the ranking. This includes: BS The Legend of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets, Wand of Gamelon, Faces of Evil, Zelda’s Adventure, Link’s Crossbow Training, Hyrule Warriors, and Hyrule Warriors Legends.

This beloved animal was one of the most sought-after companions in the Sims universe, bringing in fanmade creations with mods over the years. But now, players can acquire their very own stallion without using these enhancements, where they can teach, nurture, and raise horses.

While some aspects of the pack stand out from the rest, others lack a certain kind of substance that ultimately makes it feel like it’s missing something. So, without further ado, we’ll go over the things Sims 4 Horse Ranch does well and ways it could’ve done better.

Return Of The Obra Dinn is the perfect recommendation for folks who don't play games

I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve recommended people play Return Of The Obra Dinn. It's the one game I'm confident recommending to anyone to folks who play games frequently, but also to those who don't. My biggest triumph was recommending it to my dad, a 62-year-old retired manufacturing manager from Wales, who loved it so much he not only recommended it to a friend (who also loved it) but also said my mum should try it too - and I agree! It’s all subjective of course, but for me, its banger of a story, accessible it is, and how you can practically run it on a potato make it a wonderful gateway into gaming in general.

Get Phoenix Rising Armor During FFXIV Moonfire Faire

The FFXIV Moonfire Faire event begins next week, and that means we get a chance to earn Phoenix Riser armor. Square Enix announced it kicks off on August 10, 2023. It also opened up a site to go over the basics of the event and show off the new equipment players can get.

To kick off the event, you’ll need to first be at level 30. If you are, then you can check in with Mayaru Moyaru, a Tataru, at Limsa Lominsa, Upper Decks. You’ll find the character at X:11.5, Y:13.8. Visiting the character means you can start the “Allergic to Sunshine” quest.

As you go through the Moonfire Faire in FFXIV, you can collect the two parts of the Phoenix Riser armor. This is a unisex equipment set that resembles the sort of outfit a Super Sentai character might wear. It is split into the Phoenix Riser Helmet and Suit. You can see both below.

Stormcloud Vapor Xbox Controller Is Up for Preorder (and Out Soon)

If you’re into stylish color schemes for your controllers, you should probably get an Xbox. Not only can you design your own, but Microsoft is always coming out with new official controller color schemes. The latest Xbox controller design is called Stormcloud Vapor, and it looks great. It costs $69.99 and it’s out soon, on August 8, but preorders are live now (see it at Amazon).

Preorder Stormcloud Vapor Xbox Controller

The design is a blue and black swirl that basically looks like mist. The exact design of the swirl is unique to each controller, so you won’t have to worry that your swirl looks just like everyone else’s. And for added grippiness, the back case of the controller has rubberized blue diamond-pattern grips. I don’t know if you’ve used an Xbox controller with rubberized grips, but the comfort level and ease of holding the thing are actually noticeable. Grips, it turns out, are good.

Aside from the appealing surface-level style, this latest Xbox controller is, in my opinion, the best standard controller ever made. The shape is basically perfect; it feels phenomenal in your hands. The buttons, triggers, and sticks offer just the right amount of resistance. And although I was skeptical of the disc-shaped D-pad design when it was first unveiled, I actually like it more than the plus-shaped ones I used to favor. This is a terrific controller.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Switch Hardware Software Sales Nintendo First Quarter Financials Best-Selling

Nintendo just had one of its best first quarters since the launch of the Switch in 2017, thanks in part to sales of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The company’s latest financial report reveals that Tears of the Kingdom sold 18.51 million units from its release to June 30. This led to Nintendo having the highest “global sell-through of first-party” for a first quarter since the launch of the Switch. It says sales of Tears of the Kingdom also drove hardware sales, as Nintendo sold 3.91 million units in this quarter, which ran from April 1 to June 30, 2023.

The best moment of Portal 2: the part where he kills you

Portal 2 is obviously brilliant, in part because each of its chapters possesses a distinct charm. GLaDOS’ return, for instance, is a stretch of pure puzzling with just a dash of dread, while your first steps into the abandoned 1960s Aperture facility interrupt a fairly hopeless tone with an upbeat sense of discovery. For me, though, Portal 2 peaks late. So late that by the time it begins, your journey through the 'true' puzzle chambers are essentially over, leaving you as little more than a loose end in the big glowing eye of a former buddy. It’s Chapter 9: The Part Where He Kills You! Mmm, love that part.

Apex Legends Season 18 launch date confirmed and a reworked Revenant is on the way

Apex Legends: Resurrection, the 18th season of the popular battle royale, will land on Tuesday 8th August. The biggest change coming to the game is the total re-work of the Synthetic Nightmare Revenant. Also, Broken Moon is being added to Mix Tape, the Charge Rifle gets some changes, and early Apex fans may be pleased to hear that Season 2's Disruptor Rounds are coming back!

First thing's first, let's get the big one out of the way - the revamp of Revenant. If you've been playing this deadly Legend throughout season 17 you may have noticed that he's beginning to act strangely, glitching and other out-of-character actions starting to come through. This is the start of the revamp of Apex's Synthetic Nightmare.

It's not a secret that the popularity of Revenant has dropped off in past seasons with their previous abilities not really keeping up with the fast paced combat laid out by the newer Legends.

Why Baldur's Gate 3's faithful recreation of Dungeons & Dragons is so exciting

Baldur's Gate 3 comes out on PC today and people seem to be talking about it everywhere. Developer Larian has done great work with the Divinity: Original Sin games and built a strong following, so a lot of the excitement is unsurprising. What does surprise me is where the other surge of excitement is coming from, because it's something I haven't seen before. It's a surge coming from outside of video gaming, from the colossal community surrounding Dungeons & Dragons.

D&D has grown in popularity in recent years, thanks to mainstream representation in Stranger Things and actual-play blockbusters like Critical Role. But it's not as if Baldur's Gate 3 is the first Dungeons & Dragons video game to ever exist - far from it. There have been many - there have been so many. And even when RPGs aren't directly based on Dungeons & Dragons, they're often heavily inspired by it, much like Divinity: Original Sin. But what's new here, and what's exciting people so much, is how close BG3 seems to be to the experience of playing tabletop D&D.

That closeness is something I didn't appreciate before I started playing D&D, around the same time Baldur's Gate 3 arrived in early access, funnily enough. All my previous experience of D&D came from video games, where to me it was just another set of rules. I didn't see anything particularly special in it.

Where's our Baldur's Gate 3 review?

After a whopping two years, nine months, and a few weeks, Larian's Dungeons and Dragons-fuelled epic Baldur's Gate 3 finally leaves Early Access today on PC - but we won't have a review for you on Eurogamer just yet.

Why? Well, the embargo has just lifted but, simply put, we just haven't had enough time to play it - not the full version 1.0, at least. Our review code arrived just a couple of days ago and this game, as you might have heard, is massive. We want to do it justice with a thorough look - within reason - so we need quite a bit more time (and frankly, we wouldn't be able to get through even regular-sized RPGs in that time anyway).

How much more time we'll take is... a good question. To play it safe we can say it definitely won't be any sooner than a week from now, and there's a chance it may take a fair bit longer. We want to balance giving our lovely readers an idea of what we think as soon as possible, with giving the game as fair a shake as possible too. If a full review ends up looking like a very long way off, we'll get you some in-progress impressions of the 1.0 version.

Naruto Gals DX Hinata Figure Uses Lion Fist Technique

Naruto Gals DX Hinata figure

Megahobby is bringing back the Naruto Gals DX Hinata Hyuga version 3 figure. The figure depicts the character using her signature Byakugan and her Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists technique. The figure costs 27,500 JPY (or about $192), and it is set to release on February 2024 in Japan. Pre-orders will be available on August 4, 2023 from the Premium Bandai online store. We will likely see it worldwide after.

This figure of Hinata stands at 13 inches (or 35 cm) tall, and it features the character in her Naruto Shippuden appearance. More specifically, the figure depicts Hinata using her Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists technique, one of the high-level secret techniques taught to members of the Hyuga Clan.

Additionally, Hinata looks like she is floating in the figure, as the Gentle Step effects support the character in the air. The base includes carefully modeled rubble and clouds of dust.

You can check out the Hinata figure in more detail on the gallery below.

Tower of Fantasy’s 1 Year Anniversary 3.1 Update Arrives Next Week

The 1 Year Anniversary of Tower of Fantasy will be celebrated in the Midsummer Merriment 3.1 update arriving alongside PS4 and PS5 ports. Both the new versions and expansion arrive on August 8, 2023. As usual, this means a new storyline, a new location, new enemy, and a new character. Ming Jing will appear in Tower of Fantasy after it goes live.

First, Ming Jing is the new Lord Xuanwu for Domain 9. He essentially wields a claymore in fights. While he isn’t from the area, he is its defender. While the Simulacra’s moveset wasn’t detailed, there is an introductory trailer for him.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_XRhiKMPfU&ab_channel=TowerofFantasy

Ming Jing plays a part in the new story as well. Building on the addition of Domain 9 from early this year, we’ll get to take part in the Jade Pavilion Fair. The launch trailer for the Tower of Fantasy 1 Year Anniversary 3.1 update primarily focuses on him as he watches the event going on around him.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bU-1X12HTJ4&ab_channel=TowerofFantasy

As for the new location, people will get to go to Cloudpeak Manor. It’s a new place inside Domain 9, expanding that map in the game. Once inside, people will get a chance to face the Black Crow Dark Wretch enemy. It's a multi-headed foe.

The Baldur’s Gate III Download Size Is Substantial

How big is the Baldur’s Gate 3 download size?

Baldur’s Gate III is one of the largest RPGs in recent memory. Not only does the game have an overwhelming amount of cutscenes, but massive maps and areas to explore with its large cast of characters. As you might expect, the Baldur’s Gate III download size is quite large to compensate for this and needs 150GB.

How Much Space Do You Need to Download Baldur’s Gate III?

At launch, Baldur’s Gate III’s download size requires you to have approximately 150GB of available space on your computer to download the game. This is quite a lot more than the roughly less than 75GB that it was at during the early access period.

In actuality, my experience shows that the overall space you’ll need for the game is more like 124GB in total. This changed over the last week with more updates, so expect to download around that much when the game releases on Steam for you.

Regardless, if you can ensure you have at least 150GB, just to be safe, you’ll probably be good to go on downloading this game. This is notable for Steam Deck players like myself, since the built-in memory space is quite limited, even on the most expensive model.

For my Steam Deck, in particular, it takes up more than half of the available space on the internal drive. You’ll want to consider deleting some other games or moving some of your titles over to an SD card to make room for this massive title.

Baldur’s Gate III is available for PC and will release for PS5 on September 6, 2023.

Nijisanji Virtual Talent Academy Booted a Bunch of Vtubers

nijisanji virtual talent academy

Anycolor, the parent company of Nijisanji, expelled several of its Virtual Talent Academy (VTA) Vtuber students for breaking several of the company’s rules, including issues with information management. This likely means revealing, accidentally or not, sensitive or non-public information. It has updated its list of current students to more accurately reflect its roster. There are now only ten students in the program.

Among students that Anycolor expelled from VTA are ones from the second, third, and fourth generations. All VTA students—even those who were not part of the issue—will temporarily halt their activities. This is so that Anycolor can review its current way of operations. As soon as it figures that out, the VTA members will continue their usual streams and other online activities.

Incidentally, while the names of over ten VTA members are no longer on the student list, not all of them got their names removed due to violating the rules. As per normal VTA procedures, Anycolor removed their names and privated their VODs to prepare them for a debut. It’s likely that Anycolor did not outright state who it expelled so as not to spoil upcoming VTuber debuts.

Lords of the Fallen: What Starting Class Should You Pick? | IGN First

One of the most important decisions you'll make in any Soulslike is what to go with for your starting class. Ultimately, you'll be able to adjust your character to whatever build you want by levelling up your stats, but your starting class affects your playstyle where it often matters most: Right at the beginning of the game. It determines your starting stats, the weapon you'll likely use for the first few hours, the type of armor you'll wear, what kind of magic you'll wield, and what items you'll start the game with.

It's the kind of decision you'll want to make an informed choice about, so to that end, we asked Hexworks themselves to breakdown the starting classes of Lords of the Fallen and give some recommendations as to what classes might fit a particular player's style.

Blackfeather Ranger

A ranged archetype with two types of arrows at their disposal. While no slouch in melee range, the Blackfeather's best strategy is to begin combat from afar, aiming manually and landing headshots for critical damage. If the Ranger does get into a close ranged scrap, once the enemy disengages, they can let loose with specialized arrows to trigger debuffs or elemental damage before getting back in and finishing them off with their axe.

Top 3 Forgotten PlayStation Launch Gems

In honor of IGN’s ‘90s Week celebration, this month’s installment in my regular column about forgotten games is going to go just a little broader. Instead of looking at a single game that may have faded from public discourse, I foolishly promised my fellow editors that I’d look at the entire launch lineup of the PlayStation and highlight all the obscure gems we once loved to play.

Hey, I was there – at launch – and picked up my PlayStation at our local Toys R Us using one of those printed-out tickets you had to take to the “Keeper of Valuable Goods” behind the glass window. (I think his name was Geoffrey. Maybe.) IGN didn’t yet exist – our first website launched in 1996 – and as a university student with limited means, I picked out a batch of games that looked most promising to me and that my budget could bear. I can’t tell you what exactly motivated me to choose the games I did, but Air Combat, Battle Arena Toshinden, Kileak: The DNA Imperative (“The Blood”, for my European friends), and Ridge Racer all came home with me. I didn’t buy a new 3D console to play NBA Jam or Raiden arcade ports, but the promise of bringing 3D arcade graphics home with Ridge Racer was reason enough for me to shell out $299 and take a chance on the PlayStation at launch.

With IGN Playlist, you can copy and remix the above PlayStation Launch Games list and rearrange it to create your custom, sharable ranking.

Apex Legends Season 18 - Revenant Rework Abilities and Weapon Changes Explained

After this month's in-game teases of Revenant getting a major change up, the time is finally here! Apex Legends Season 18 Resurrection sees the huge rework of Revenant, completetly changing the way his Legend kit works. Not only are his abilities completetly altered, but there are major weapon changes on the way, and new gameplay updates. The new season Resurrection launches August 8th so here’s everything you need to know to prepare.

Revenant Reborn

Revenant has been reworked with a new set of abilities. Here’s how Revenant’s kit works now:

  • Assassin’s Instinct (Passive): Revenant wall climbs and crouch walks faster and now highlights low health enemies and hit enemies will be shown for everyone on team. There's no max amount of players that can be highlighted at once, but it does just highlight players who are nearby and damaged.
  • Shadow Pounce (Tactical): Revenant can lunge forward or hold the charge to leap further (think of how shadows melee lunge in Shadow Royale).
  • Forged Shadows (Ultimate): Revenant creates shadows around him like a shield to block damage. He can recharge this shadow shield and his tactical ability when he gets knockdowns.

For players who don’t have Revenant unlocked, he will be free all season long free to use. But if you want to unlock him permanently, Revenant can be obtained by completing some challenges.

Assassin's Creed Codename Jade Gameplay Appears Online

Assassin's Creed Codename Jade gameplay has appeared online, nearly a year after the mobile game's official announcement.

One YouTube channel dedicated to the Assassin's Creed franchise streamed and archived a video of what looks like gameplay from the ongoing closed beta. The gameplay shown looked good for a mobile game, and the user interface revealed that Codename Jade will have touch controls, though there was no indication as to whether or not it will support external controllers like the DualSense or the Backbone One.

Set in Ancient China, Codename Jade is the first open-world Assassin's Creed game made exclusively for mobile devices. It also serves as the first in the series where you get to create your own assassin protagonist.

Baldur's Gate 3 Review in Progress: Update #3

8 months 3 weeks ago

Update #3: August 15, 2023

I've now clocked around 115 hours in Baldur's Gate 3 and am sunk deep into its third act. No spoilers here, but I can say that this is where Larian's writing has really come to shine in terms of weighty roleplaying choices. In fact, the big decision you have to make before committing to a final plan of action to stop the bad guys is devilishly ingenious. The jaws of the trap already closed long before we arrived here, but there is still room for me to make bold decisions that will affect the outcome.

And, as I watched the chess game between devils and tyrants play out in my head, I felt heartbroken and liberated at the same time to realize what the only winning move might be. This is not a tale that takes for granted that you are a hero; it's one that truly stares you down and demands that you prove it, if that's really what you're made of. I'm backed into a corner with a dozen ways out, but each one would require me to compromise on what I believe in in one way or another. This elevates the tension and the storytelling to new heights.

Call of Duty Will Now Show You When a Cheater Has Been Removed from a Game

Activision has announced its Riochet anti-cheat system will now notify Call of Duty players when it has kicked out an individual for cheating.

In a tweet, Activision said Call of Duty's kill feed will notify lobbies in both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 when the anti-cheat system has detected and removed a "problem player".

This is the latest effort from Activision as it attempts to crack down on cheating PC players in Call of Duty. Earlier this week, it was reported that Call of Duty banned more than 14,000 Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone cheaters in just a single day. Last June, Activision threatened to take away weapons for players caught cheating in Call of Duty. Activision has even gone as far as to say that if you were previously caught cheating in a Call of Duty game, your ban could extend to future franchise installments.
