Diablo IV's Spider Monster Is An Affront To All Of My Senses
Video games have a long and storied history of taking spiders—already an upsetting concept—and making them worse. Diablo IV seems more than prepared to live up to that legacy.

Starting today and running to July 15, Dead by Daylight is celebrating a 5th anniversary event. If you’re trying to farm up bloodpoints to unlock perks for your favorite survivor or killer, now’s probably the best time. Not only are cakes available for big bonuses during the event, but you can also take advantage of a special Shrine of Secrets rotation with reduced prices! Of course, there are all kinds of special cosmetics and other fun things to explore as well. Check out the trailer for the event below, which shows off some of the funfetti and cheer that are obviously quite at odds with the normal motif of the horror-centric Dead by Daylight.

In the latest quarterly update for Diablo 4, Blizzard is geeking out about the game’s art, and honestly, for good reason. The blog post goes very in-depth about the game’s art, environment, character look, and more. While the technical stuff is way over my head, anyone that can see can take away that Diablo 4, visually, looks incredible.
Art Director, John Mueller references the widely-praised Diablo 3 pre-rendered cinematics as a “touchpoint” to build a foundation for the art and environment of Diablo 4. They were far more realistic-looking than the Diablo 3 in-game engine and very much fell in line with “dark fantasy.”
The goal in Diablo 4 according to Mueller is to essentially make that same look come through, not just in cinematics, but the entire game. The result is that Diablo 4 no longer has pre-rendered cinematics and everything will be rendered using the in-game engine. Here’s some of how it looks via Blizzard.
Today Microsoft hosted a Q&A livestream with the developers of Microsoft Flight Simulator providing new information about the Xbox Series X|S version and the improvements to the PC version coming with it.
During the livestream (which was a second part following one from a few days ago), we heard from head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann, Asobo CEO Sebastian Wloch, and executive producer Martial Bossard.
They explained that part of the architecture of the engine has been rewritten to improve performance. We get to see a video recorded from Wloch’s own PC, showcasing the difference in frame rate between the current Sim Update 4 and the new Sim Update 5 which will launch with the Xbox version on July 27.
The upgrade is certainly massive and Wloch also mentioned that the team expects an improvement for VR performance as well, but they don’t know the extent just yet.
After spending some time under wraps, Rainbow Six Extraction recently emerged with the expected announcement that it would be ditching its former name "Quarantine". What it isn't letting go of, Ubisoft say, are all of the oh so many operators in Rainbow Six Siege. With so many to choose from, Ubisoft aren't designing new operators for their Left 4 Dead-like co-op shooter. Instead, they're going to be bringing some player favorite operators to Extraction, along with some who "haven’t received the amount of love we think they deserve".
Diablo IV is still an unknown amount of time away from launch, but Blizzard are keeping up with their quarterly blog posts digging into details about the next big hack 'n slash RPG. Up for show and tell this time is Diablo 4's character customisation, which there sure is going to be a heck of a lot of for a game largely played looking down at the top of your own head. That's because Blizzard are planning some flashy "cinematic" moments with your very own character, they say. Don't forget to dye your armor while you're at it.
There are tough video game secrets, and then there are challenges that were simply never meant to be overcome by humans—or perhaps meant to be at all. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s “impossible” chest fits that bill and then some. Now, four years after the game’s release, somebody has finally opened it.

Square Enix’s new collection brings updated graphics and music
Halo has always been a staple for Team Green when looking at what the Xbox experience has to offer. The sci-fi shooter has been vital to the name of Xbox and has evolved much in the years since its birth, even changing hands from Bungie over to 343 Industries. Because of that, and the initial backlash to when Halo Infinite gameplay was first revealed in 2020, there is a lot of speculation as to whether or not Infinite will be the final "test" regarding Halo's future going forward. With Starfield, the new space IP from Bethesda, also being an Xbox-exclusive, some have even wondered if that could take the crown. According to Xboss Phil Spencer, Halo Infinite will not be a "make or break" situation, instead, it is a fresh start.

Ever since its surprise launch on Persona 4 Golden on PC last summer, there's been a decent amount of chatter about PC versions of other Atlus games. Sega have said that the port's success on PC had them considering more PC ports in general and they've now attached a recent number as context for that consideration. P4 Golden has now sold over a million copies on Steam, Atlus say, which sure does seem decent for the port of a game from 2008.
Square Enix is no stranger to bafflingly ill-considered remakes of classics, and it’s starting to look like the “pixel remasters” of Final Fantasy I-VI might suffer the same fate. In short: price big, text tiny.

The whole point of Sea of Thieves: A Pirates Life was that it served as a crossover event between Rare’s pirate game and Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean series. But tucked away at the end of the expansion is a secret that has nothing to do with Captain Jack Sparrow, or really Sea of Thieves for that matter.
It’s been a very long time since I’ve checked in on Final Fantasy XIII—like, over a decade—but the game had a PC version released back in 2014, which means modders have had some time to work with it. And do incredible things.
Multiple Final Fantasy Android and iOS games will be delisted as Square Enix prepares to launch the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games.

Announced during E3 last month, Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is a collection of the first six games in the Final Fantasy series, remastered with beautiful 2D pixel art. It’s meant to give players a chance to re-experience the classic games on modern platforms and redone visuals, but there’s just one glaring problem: the font is really ugly.
The mobile version of FFVI is notorious for its ugly pixel art and ugly mobile phone font, but the one used in Pixel Remaster looks even worse than that, if that were possible. As you can see from the screenshots down below, the font looks way too tiny and smushed together, making it hard to read what’s onscreen.
Today Inti Creates released a new gameplay trailer of its upcoming game Blaster Master Zero 3.
The trailer provides a look at the charming retro-style action less than a month before the game’s release.
You can check it out for yourself below.
Blaster Master Zero 3 releases on July 29, 2021, for PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PS4, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
Below you can read an official description if you’re unfamiliar with the game, and you can also take a look at the reveal trailer from earlier this year.
“The Pinnacle of Mutant Blasting Action Is Here!
In Blaster Master Zero 3, it’s time to hop aboard the all-terrain battle tank G-SOPHIA SV and explore the world around you in sideview mode, then travel into the depths of numerous dungeons on foot in top-down mode as the series protagonist Jason! With a host of new abilities and weapons in your arsenal, Blaster Master Zero 3’s hybrid of side-scrolling and top-down action is more intense than ever before!
Blaster Master Zero 3 brings Jason back to where the series all began, the planet Sophia, in order to save series heroine Eve in this final installment of the BMZ trilogy.
Among Us quickly became one of the most popular multiplayer games in mid-2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic forced everyone into lockdown. The game of cat-and-mouse was incredibly intense, as players would have to try to figure out who the impostor was, while the impostor themselves had the ability to move across the map quickly via vents.
However, it looks like developing studio InnerSloth is going to be nerfing the vents to some extent.
Announced on Twitter, a new update in July will add a new task for crewmates to do: vent cleaning! When a crewmate is cleaning a vent, impostors will not be able to move to that vent in particular. But if a crewmate cleans a vent that an impostor is already hiding in, it’ll boot them out, giving the impostor a chance to kill that crewmate. Or, y’know, run around frantically because their kill cooldown isn’t off yet and they can’t stop the crewmate from reporting them.
