GreedFall is getting a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S version.
Spiders' plucky pirate-themed role-playing game is also getting new content, although we don't know the nature of it yet. We don't know when the next-gen version will come out, either.
GreedFall, which came out in September 2019, ended up selling over a million copies. Malindy reviewed GreedFall for Eurogamer, awarding it a recommended badge. "GreedFall has more than its fair share of faults, and its curious mix of the sweet and the sour is far from a roleplaying revelation," Malindy wrote. "But the elements that matter have been imbued with such love and care - so much so that I quickly forgave this ambitious RPG its shortcomings."
Back when Aldi surprised us all by announcing what is surely guaranteed to be the best Nintendo Switch deal this Black Friday we expected demand would be high. Well, a few minutes after going on sale, the Switch was gone.
At one point, over 100,000 people were in the queue to view the Black Friday sale page at Aldi. At this point, the majority of the offers are now sold out. You're still able to get some of the less in-demand items such as a mediocre desktop PC or robot vacuum cleaner, but the big ones are off the menu.
That said, it doesn't mean your hopes of securing a cheap Switch are gone for the year. Right now, there are a handful of decent deals still out there - and with Black Friday now upon us, we are bound to see more flash deals pop up over the next 24 hours.
Focus Home Entertainment has announced that its dark colonial RPG GreedFall will be journeying onto next-gen platforms in 2021. GreedFall for PS5 and Xbox Series X will bring the dramatic adventure to the new consoles in its entirety, along with brand new, undisclosed content.
Developed by Spiders (not literally) and released on PS4, PC, and Xbox One back in 2019, GreedFall tells a turn-of-the-century story about a group of explorers who travel to uncharted land in search of the cure for a grim virus. Arriving at the mysterious locale of Teer Fradee, our protagonists find a people at war with both invading armies and a slew of vicious monsters. It is up to the player to earn the trust (or ire) of the encountered characters, keeping the party alive whilst searching for a cure to save civilization.
No release date was announced for the PS5 or Xbox Series X release. We will keep you informed when more details are forthcoming.
There are some games whose first encounters with you'll always remember. For me - and I'm sure for many others - it's Ridge Racer. First contact was made the summer of 1994 in a Hastings arcade, a whole week spent pushing 20p pieces into a machine that felt like it had been transported from some shiny new future (later that same week I'd get laughed out of a seafront dance record shop when I asked if they had any copies of Shinji Hosoe's incredible soundtrack).
And then, six months later, there was the future shock of seeing this phenomenal thing running in a friend's living room on a Sony PlayStation that had been imported from Japan at great expense. The arcade had properly made it home, and it started a tradition of PlayStation hardware being christened with a sterling new racer from Namco - Ridge Racer V! Ridge Racers! Er, Ridge Racer 7 maybe? - that was sadly broken by the launch PlayStation 4, and we've been waiting for a proper new entry ever since. Oh how I miss those razor-sharp slides, those fictional sports cars that teetered on the edge of sci-fi with their outrageous designs, those thumping beats and dizzying synth lines of its turbocharged techno.
Arcade racers haven't gone anywhere - indeed, we've had something of a resurgence recently - but games as stylish and slick as Ridge Racer? That's something that's sorely missed. So too is the future shock that Ridge Racer provided at the dawn of the PlayStation generation, and for all the pizazz of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, it's something that's missing a little from both launch line-ups. And that's what made Ridge Racer so special. It wasn't just a great launch title - it felt like an entire paradigm shift.
Another week, another bucketload of next-gen console news - and so plenty for Eurogamer news editor Tom Phillips, reporter Emma Kent and me to discuss in this week's news cast.
We kick off by talking about the PS5 being the biggest console launch ever - an impressive feat during a pandemic. We then move on to Digital Foundry's analysis of some multiplatform games, which are shown to run better on PS5 than Xbox Series X - a surprise given all the talk about Microsoft's console being the world's most powerful. Microsoft has issued a statement on this, and it looks like developers are still getting to grips with the Xbox Series X, which reportedly came in quite hot.
Talking of company statements, Amazon promised to "put it right" for customers whose PS5s never turned up. But has Amazon put it right? Not exactly...
[cms-block] hasn’t been particularly kind on the old graphics card and CPU deals front this year, but with just two weeks to go until the launch of CD Projekt Red’s Keanu Reeves RPG Cyberpunk 2077 and not a single fresh sighting of new RTX 3070 or RTX 3080 cards anywhere to be seen, the window for making any necessary PC upgrades is closing pretty fast.
But I’m here to help. While I can’t magic up one of Nvidia’s new RTX 30 GPUs or any of AMD’s hot new Ryzen 5000 chips, I can tell you how to build a PC from today’s crop of Black Friday deals that will still meet Cyberpunk 2077’s ‘High’ PC spec (that’s 1440p Ultra settings) and its minimum ray tracing requirements. And it won’t cost you an absolute fortune to get it all, either, as I’ve picked out components that cost less than £900 / $1000. So let’s jump in and see what my one-stop shopping list has to offer.
For years, Final Fantasy XIV has been hosting these fireside chats for the game called "Letter from the Producer Live."
They're such a big deal that I've actually watched them in a room with other XIV players like they were an E3 presentation: it's generally where most of the bigger news breaks for the game. As the team prepares to deliver patch 5.4 (which has a date of December 8), news is indeed coming out of today's stream, recapped on Twitter. So let's start breaking down some of the bigger things patch 5.4 is going to offer, from the vague to the precise.
As is customary job changes are coming, with big alterations for the Monk on the docket. Triple Triad is also getting a substantial update, which the Twitter account jokes is the "true endgame" (haha, kind of true for some people). The new Eden's Promise raid (the last hardcore wing of the expansion) seems to have Final Fantasy VIII music, and the upcoming Unreal Trial is confirmed to be Titan. A tougher Titan fight has been rumored for a long while now, so this should be a welcome surprise for older players who witnessed countless party members fall off that cliff. The Ishgardian Restoration process will also hit its "final phase" in patch 5.4.
Perhaps most importantly for casual fans though is the new "explorer mode" mechanic, which was teased prior but shown off today in all its glory. Explorer mode allows you to basically roam free and hang out in certain areas (previously completed dungeons, including Shadowbringers ones for now, with "more to be added in the future"), with a focus on taking cool pictures like limit break poses: the sort of thing you can't really do in the heat of a big raid battle. Under the guise of the explorer demo, new minions were also shown off.
The newest PlayStation VR headset bundle is released today, compatible with both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, sold along with separate games to make the most of this cutting edge new tech.
Those games include Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, Everybody's Golf VR, Moss, Blood & Truth and PlayStation VR Worlds. It's a very solid starting pack, not to mention that it includes the new camera adapter that'll enable the whole thing to be PS5-friendly.
No, it's not been discounted for Black Friday, but that's probably not too surprising, considering it came out only hours ago. If you're planning on getting VR in the future, now might be the time. After all, PSVR is considered one of the better headsets on the market, it's got a decent library of games that's growing constantly, and though there's no Black Friday deal attached to it right now, this is still a decent price for the whole bundle.
The excellent and RPS-approved wireless gaming headset, the Steelseries Arctis 7, is always one of the most hotly sought after items during [cms-block] and finally this year’s deal has arrived. It’s been stuck at a very stubborn £159 for the last six months or so, according to my price tracker, but now it’s finally fallen to a much more agreeable £100. Both the black and white versions are on sale, too, matching their previous Black Friday prices from last year.
If you fancy a bit of adorable misery for your PS4, then you're in luck, as publisher Mages has announced that upcoming remake Corpse Party Blood Covered... Repeated Fear will be arriving on Sony's black box in 2021, alongside its previously revealed Nintendo Switch release.
As a reminder, Corpse Party Blood Covered... Repeated Fear is a remastered edition of the 2015 Nintendo 3DS release Corpse Party Blood Covered which itself is a remake of the original 1996 release Corpse Party - the title that spawned the uber-violent visual novel franchise. Built within a brand new engine, Repeated Fear will add newly recorded voice acting and several additional in-game scenarios, so now you can get more closely acquainted with the girls of Heaven Host Academy before they are mercilessly destroyed.
Corpse Party Blood Covered... Repeated Fear is currently in development for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, a western localization is yet to be officially confirmed.
Today Sega announced a release date for Japan of the upcoming Sakura Wars mobile game Sakura Revolution: Blooming Maidens.
The game will launch its service on December 15 for iOS and Android.
Unfortunately, at the moment there is no mention of a possible western release.
Alongside the announcement, we also got an extensive gameplay trailer showing how this gacha JRPG actually plays.
You can enjoy it below.
If you’re unfamiliar with Sakura Revolution: Blooming Maidens, it’s set in the 100th year of the Taishou era (71 years after the latest Sakura Wars game). Japan has been devastated by the Imperial Capital’s Great Disaster 16 years before, and it was rebuilt thanks to the energy based on spiritual power named “Mirai.”
Yet, following the building of the New Tower of the Imperial Capital, cherry blossoms have stopped blooming and attacks from demons have intensified.
Today Sony Interactive Entertainment dated and detailed the 2020 edition of the PlayStation Partner Awards 2020 Japan & Asia.

Today Square Enix released a set of new trailers of its upcoming Masterline set of NieR: Automata figures.
The figures have been created in collaboration with Prime1 Studio which is known for extremely high quality and extremely high prices.
There are three different options: the first comes with 2B, A2, and 9S in their normal uniforms. The second is the “DX version,” which includes all three characters but with different poses and clothes.
The third focuses on heroine 2B on her own, and includes an option to display her with her visor removed.
The scale is 1/4, so you can expect them to be very large.
You can watch them all in the trailers below, and likely join me in crying because we’ll never be able to afford them.

Today South Korean game developer Shift Up released a few new screenshots and a gameplay trailer of its upcoming game code-named “Project EVE.”
The game was announced over a year ago as an AAA single-player action RPG for PS4, Xbox One, and PC aimed at the global market.
Now the new reveal simply mentions “PC and consoles” so it’s very possible that we may see it on next-gen (or should I say “current-gen” at this point?) platforms as well.
This time around we get to see fast and furious battle gameplay against one of the creatures named “NA-Tives,” which infest the ruined Earth.
One thing is for sure: it looks really, really good.
You can check out all the assets of Project EVE below.

Greedfall has been a big success, and now developer Spiders is looking to upgrade the game for the next generation of consoles. Greedfall will receive an update for PS5 and Xbox Series X, complete with new content.
In a tweet, the official Greedfall account announced that the game is coming to next-gen after selling over 1 million copies. This is a major milestone for the game, which has been so successful that it greatly boosted publisher Focus Interactive's profits.

The Samsung Odyssey G7 was one of the standout Prime Day deals in the UK last month, but this incredible 2560×1440, 240Hz gaming screen has returned for another round of [cms-block] deals goodness. Black Friday 2020 has brought plenty of deals on games that released within the past month or so, including Watch Dogs: Legion, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and Gears Tactics. But the latest Black Friday deal we've stumbled across is on a game that launched just last week. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is available at Ebay for $50, which is a nice $10 savings off the price of the brand-new Nintendo Switch exclusive.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a spinoff prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It tells the story 100 years prior to the events of Breath of the Wild, chronicling the Great Calamity that leads to the prolonged period of darkness and ruin across Hyrule.Continue Reading at GameSpot
For decades now, Harmonix has brought a very particular set of skills to the gaming audience – finding ways to share the joy of music-making with players, even if those players have never picked up the instrument(s) in question. Time and again, the studio manages to find the thrill and wonder inherent to a particular corner of the musical world, and translate that into something approachable and fun. With Fuser, the developers behind Amplitude, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and Dance Central have zeroed in on the festival dance music scene. I’ve never spun records as a DJ. I’ve never even attended a big outdoor music festival. And yet Fuser is everything I want as an escape from the doldrum and frustration of 2020, offering one of the most creative and technically remarkable opportunities for musical expression I’ve encountered in a game.
As Brian Shea writes about in his enthusiastic review for Fuser, this new music game offers a number of different ways to interact with the music, from a tutorial-focused campaign that shows you the ropes, to freestyle mix creation, to social tools for sharing and enjoying music with others. Any way you choose to approach it, the takeaway is the same – Fuser is a music-mixing and creation tool masquerading as a video game. And its ability to sweep me away into the fun of toe-tapping tunes remixed in new ways is especially invigorating.

David S. Goyer has been attached to some major films over the last 20 years--including the Dark Knight trilogy, Batman v Superman, and Terminator: Dark Fate--but in games, he's best known for his work on the Call of Duty: Black Ops series. Goyer has story credits on Black Ops and Black Ops II, and he was brought back for Black Ops Cold War, the latest game in the series. Now, in an interview on the official Call of Duty blog, Goyer has explained some of the philosophy behind his work on the series.
Reflecting on the first two Black Ops games, Goyer said that he had been excited to move into games when he was invited to do a script polish for the original. "I think the game was about two thirds of the way finished at that point, and I punched up the script and I made some other suggestions," he recalls. "It was fascinating for me--it was just a different medium in the way that you convey exposition is entirely different."
After that, he was asked to be involved in Black Ops II "from the ground up," and he was able to get some interesting storytelling choices through. "I love the idea that there are multiple endings that can be achieved, depending on the moral choices that I make throughout the game," "he says. It was something that I was really pleased to see that Treyarch and Raven were continuing on with this new game. I liked the idea that actions have consequences."Continue Reading at GameSpot
