Heroes Of The Storm Adds New Hero To Public Test Server

2 days 19 hours ago

Heroes of the Storm's public test realm has a new update, and it brings some major changes to Blizzard's MOBA, including a new character, the removal of a key item, and several major balance shifts. That new character is Hogger Terror of Elwynn, a character from World of Warcraft that has long been rumored as a potential addition to the game.

Since these patch notes reflect the current state of the game's public test realm, it's important to note that they are subject to change in their final implementation. The wolflike Hogger is an aggressive bruiser character who can deal a lot of damage in a large area, and he has options for self-healing, as well as slowing and crippling enemies to keep them in range. He also has multiple features and abilities that increase his damage output the more he inflicts it, particularly his Rage passive, which reduces his cooldowns for every hit he takes or deals.

Besides Hogger, this patch will remove the Gladiator's Medallion Nexus Anomaly from the game. Intended only as a seasonal item, Blizzard says that while the Medallion was a good idea in theory, it got in the way of the teamwork that the team views as central to the game's appeal. In terms of other changes, the patch reintroduces several seasonal items into the game, as well as nerfing popular talent choices for certain characters in an attempt to increase build diversity.

How Cyberpunk 2077 Cross-Saves Work On PS5 And Xbox Series X/S

2 days 19 hours ago

Developer CD Projekt Red has outlined the way Cyberpunk 2077 players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can transfer their saves to their respective next-gen consoles.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players who upgrade to the next-gen system in their respective console family can pick up their Cyberpunk 2077 save file on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S / Series X from where they left off when the game drops on December 10. As you'd expect, the process of transferring saves from one console to the other is different for each console family.

Xbox is very simple. Thanks to Smart Delivery, Cyberpunk 2077 players on Xbox One can upload their save to the cloud and simply pick up their file on Xbox Series S / Series X. Similarly, players can connect both consoles to the same network and download their saves via selecting the System Network Transfer option.

You can save 15% on this RTX 3080 Alienware Aurora desktop

2 days 19 hours ago

A photo of the black and white versions of Dell's Alienware Aurora desktop

As you may have noticed, graphics card deals are pretty few and far between this [cms-block], and there simply haven’t been any RTX 3080 cards in stock to even try and buy one at their usual price. At least not on their own, anyway. If you’ve got deep pockets and have been thinking about upgrading your entire PC to, say, play Cyberpunk 2077 with maximum ray tracing settings, then it may be quicker, easier and cheaper to simply buy a whole new PC – and if it’s an RTX 3080 you’re after, Dell are currently shaving 15% off some of their pre-built Alienware Aurora desktops for Black Friday.

This heartwarming Demon's Souls trophy video reminded me to delete 5GB of auto-captured clips

2 days 19 hours ago

In what can be described as a heartwarming Demon's Souls moment (we take them whenever we can get them!), a "first-time Souls player" named helloiamjack shared a video of them toppling one of the early intimidating bosses, Tower Knight, only to realize that the DualSense microphone had picked up their vocal celebration when their PS5 created an automated 15-second "trophy unlocked" clip.

First time Souls player. I didn’t realise that the PS5 records your microphone’s audio whenever you get a trophy. Whoops. from r/PS5

(There's a similar clip for Flamelurker, too. The player even takes a triumphant swig of beer.)

It's a cute moment, one that brings me back to the first time I brought down this big lug, but it also serves as a reminder that, depending on your settings, your PS5 might be making loads of trophy clips.

After tearing through Bugsnax, Astro's Playroom, and Demon's Souls – and revisiting a few PS4 games in that free-with-PS-Plus collection – I found out that I had accumulated over 5GB of auto-captured trophy videos. Whoops! I'm glad I caught this early since it was just a matter of selecting everything on my console for mass deletion, but for people with lots of intentional screencaps or videos, it'll be a matter of scanning a massive list to figure out what's worth keeping and what's worth trashing.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon Is The Series’ Perfect Entry Point

2 days 20 hours ago

The Yakuza series intimidates me. It includes seven huge mainline games, and even though I’ve made two earnest attempts to start the saga, I’ve never even finished Yakuza 0. That says more about me than the games, but I’m sure I’m not alone; getting through Yakuza’s whole sprawling story is a daunting proposition, since it involves playing through multiple giant RPGs. However, the recent release of Yakuza: Like a Dragon gives players the perfect opportunity to start with a clean slate.

We found the best Black Friday gaming laptop deal under £1000

2 days 21 hours ago

The best Black Friday gaming laptop deal we've spotted under £1000 is on the Lenovo Legion 5. Right now you can pick up this fully kitted-out laptop with a high-performance Ryzen 4800H processor and fast RTX 2060 graphics card for £950, which is £150 less than its usual price. Finding Ryzen 4000-series laptops has been tough after the word got out that they were significantly faster and more power-efficient than their Intel counterparts, so this is a particularly good find!

Let's have a look at the rest of the specs - it's all pretty impressive. You have 16GB of RAM, 512GB of high-speed NVMe SSD storage and a 15-inch 144Hz display. Normally corners are cut to get an RTX-equipped laptop under the £1000 mark, but this is all really good.

The screen is an IPS model, so it only gets moderately bright but offers excellent colour reproduction and wide viewing angles - this could be a laptop you use for colour-sensitive professional work if you wanted to!

New Star Citizen IAE 2950 Trailer is All About Origin as Crowdfunding Passes $327 Million

2 days 21 hours ago

Today Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games released a new trailer celebrating the opening of a new hall of the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2950.

This time around, it’s Origin Jumpworks’ time to shine, but that should not surprise anyone since shining is pretty much all Origin likes to do.

Of course, we see more of resident funny dude Jax McCleary (who Jeremy Clarkson fans may find familiar), that appears to have brought an… interesting sidekick to the show.

You can check it out below.

In other Star Citizen news, the crowdfunding cavalcade during the expo is continuing, with the total currently at $327,348,379, having passed $327 million today.

The number of registered accounts is also close to 2.9 million (currently at 2,897,012).

As usual, you should keep in mind that it’s known that not all of them are paying players. The number includes free accounts created for a variety of reasons, including Free Fly events like the one going on right now.

People Are Camping Outside GameStop For A Chance To Buy A PS5 Or Xbox Series X

2 days 21 hours ago

One of the most sought-after items this festive season could be a next-gen console, as stock of the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X has been extremely limited.

From online retailers the consoles have sold out almost instantly, but physical stock available at GameStop stores did arrive in time for Black Friday. The only way to guarantee a purchase of one of the new consoles was to wait in line early, and for some dedicated gamers that meant securing their spot several hours -- and in some cases days -- before their local shop was ready to open up.

People have literally camped outside some GameStop shops:

Unto The End Is Launching on Xbox Game Pass in December

2 days 21 hours ago

Unto the End, a cinematic 2D platformer about a father's desperate journey home, is coming to Xbox Game Pass on PC and Xbox One. Published by Big Sugar and developed by 2 Ton Studios, Unto the End is set to hit PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Stadia on December 9, with the Nintendo Switch version launching a little later on December 17.

According to the game's press release and Steam page, Unto the End's one-of-a-kind combat is focused on skill and mastery, as you embark on a challenging adventure through dark caves and sparse open fields. "Unto The End has been the focus of our day to day for the past few years and it's been fantastic to have such a great response to the game already," said Stephen Danton, one half of the husband and wife development team. "But now we're looking forward to Unto launching and everyone having a chance to experience the world and adventure we've created."

Apex Legends glitch lets you launch vehicles across the map

2 days 21 hours ago

A Trident from Apex Legends flying much higher through the air than it probably should be.

Deals deals deals! Just kidding – I interrupt your regularly scheduled Black Friday posts to bring you some delightful Apex Legends japes. Today in “what daft thing has Imogen done in a multiplayer shooter now”, I had a go at replicating a glitch that throws Apex’s new vehicles across the map.

Actually, “launch” is probably a better word to use than “throw”, because pulling off the stunt jetts you off into the sky like Gnome Chompski strapped to a rocket.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla keeps sending players to assassinate training dummies

2 days 21 hours ago

Earlier this week, mid-way through one of my Valhalla sessions, I got a bit of a shock when one of my daily assassination targets popped up right next to me in Ravensthorpe. My blood ran cold. A dangerous thief in the settlement? Right here, next to the frolicking children? Things could be about to get messy.

I peeked out of the longhouse - expecting an armoured contingent of soldiers to be wreaking havoc - and instead spied a lone figure, which the game told me was the Duke of Burgundy. I summoned all my powers of stealth, and shot the target down from a distance.

It was at this point I realised my assassination target was actually a training dummy.

The real winners of this year's Black Friday sale are the ultrawide monitor deals

2 days 21 hours ago

A photo of the Samsung CRG9

[cms-block] is over half way done for us in the UK, and as I look back over the great sea of discounted PC components I’ve scavenged over the last seven days (weeks? Years?), I have to say that the best deals have definitely been reserved for those after an ultrawide gaming monitor. That’s not to say there also hasn’t been plenty of great, if fleeting, deals on regular 16:9 monitors this year (most notably Samsung’s stupendously good Odyssey G7 and LG’s G-Sync Compatible UltraGear 27GL850-B), but the biggest and best discounts have definitely fallen in the ultrawide camp, which is great, as it’s never been a better time to dive into the wonderful world of ultrawide PC games. If you, too, want to join the ultrawide club, these are the best deals you’ll see all week.

Missile Reversal Is A Game-Changing Skill In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

2 days 21 hours ago

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla mixes up its RPG elements a bit in how it plays with the concept of a skill tree. Rather than give up the goods from the start, you reveal chunks of it from the fog as you go. I guess it technically adds a bit of mystery to character progression, until you realize you can just poke around online and see maps of the whole darned thing. Still, even if you have the whole tree laid out in front of you, it might be tricky to figure out what to prioritize. I’ll make it easier: get the Missile Reversal skill as soon as you possibly can. That single ability has transformed the way I play the game – in a good way.

I’ve always enjoyed parrying and countering attacks as long as that’s been part of the Assassin’s Creed series. There’s something I find satisfying about waiting for an enemy to attack, only for your character to knock it aside and punish that enemy for having the nerve to take a swing. Once you get the timing down, it’s the best. And it’s the same in Valhalla. Still, I was getting annoyed during some of the larger raid-type missions, in how archers and other ranged attackers would (wisely) hang back and take pot shots at me while I was busy killing their friends. The nerve! Sure, I could block those incoming projectiles, but it kind of broke my combat flow. The cure for that problem? Why, it’s Missile Reversal, of course.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Gets Black Friday Deal For Xbox Series X

2 days 21 hours ago

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the latest installment of Activision's flagship FPS franchise. It features a brand-new campaign, suite of multiplayer modes, and the iconic Zombies co-op mode. The Xbox Series X/Xbox One Cross-Gen Bundle of Black Ops Cold War is on sale for $60 this Black Friday at Newegg. This is the first deal we've seen since the game launched earlier this month.

Newegg's deal knocks $10 off the price of the Cross-Gen Bundle. This deal is only available for the digital version of the bundle, which means Xbox Series X and Series S users can take advantage of it. It's worth noting that $70 is the standard price for the Xbox Series X version of Black Ops Cold War, so it's definitely worth snagging this deal if you have a Series X or are planning to get one soon. MechWarrior 5 Steam Release Delayed To 2021 To Avoid Cyberpunk 2077 Clash

2 days 22 hours ago

Originally an Epic Games Store timed exclusive, Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries would have been available on other PC digital distribution platforms from December 10, but developer Piranha Games has decided to delay the game's launch to 2021.

The date coincides with possibly the biggest game of 2020, Cyberpunk 2077, and the studio has admitted that it doesn't want its own release eclipsed by developer CD Projekt Red's long-in-development game.

"Any developer wants their titles to get as much attention as possible, and obviously sharing a release date with Cyberpunk was less than optimal," the studio said in a statement. "Day one sales and marketing are so important to a successful product launch, and we believe that rescheduling our release date will allow MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries to have the opportunity and attention it deserve."
