Stardew Valley 1.5 Update Will Add Splitscreen Co-Op

3 years 5 months ago

ConcernedApe, the sole developer of popular farming sim Stardew Valley, has been teasing and revealing new features we can expect in the 1.5 update to the game. This time, he stated that the upcoming update will add splitscreen co-op.

Online multiplayer was originally added to Stardew Valley back in 2018, but each player needed their own version of the game. This will be the first time more than one person can play together locally on a single console or PC.

We don’t know a lot of information about it yet because ConcernedApe has been taking to Twitter to share new details about the update. He did, however, tell us which platforms and the number of players that will be supported.

In a reply to his original tweet, ConcernedApe stated that splitscreen multiplayer will make its way to consoles and PC. The number of players supported on each of those platforms might vary, though.

He clarified that PC will allow for up to four players splitscreen, while some of the consoles may be limited to only two.

ConcernedApe has not shared when he plans to release the Stardew Valley version 1.5 update, but the news of splitscreen co-op isn’t the only part of the update he has revealed.

Back in April, he took a poll on Twitter to decide which new fruit tree will be added in the upcoming update. Banana trees won.

The 1.5 update will also add a “significant new piece of end-game content,” ability to move your bed to a different spot in the house, and more teased content.

If you’re not already playing Stardew Valley, it’s definitely not too late to jump in. All updates to the game are free. You can play on PC, PlayStation 4, Vita, Xbox One, and Switch as well as on iOS and Android devices.

A physical edition and collector’s edition of the game is coming out soon, and for PC players, there are plenty of new mods you can use to enhance your game.
