NieR: Automata Passes 5.5 Million Shipments as It Celebrates 4th Anniversary

Today is the 4th anniversary of NieR: Automata, which was originally launched on PS4 on February 23, 2017.

To celebrate, Square Enix shared new shipments data. The game has now passed 5.5 million units counting shipments to retail and digital sales, worldwide.

The publisher thanked the fans for the support over the past four years.

You can see the announcement below.

Looks like the game is still selling very well, as the count was at 5 million just two months ago, on December 24.

Selling half a million copies is no joke for a title that’s four years old.

NieR: Automata is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. If you’d like to learn more, you can read our review.

Speaking of other NieR games, NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… will be released on April 22, 2021, in Japan and Asia, while the west will have to wait one day longer. It will come to North America and Europe on April 23, 2021, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

On the other hand, the recently-launched (just in Japan for now) mobile game NieR: Re[in]carnation achieved 3 million downloads in a few days after its launch, likely in part thanks to a NieR: Automata crossover event.
