Off-road racing car fanatics, rejoice! Yes, a batch of new content has just dropped for Codemasters’ acclaimed racing sim, Dirt 5. While some of the content will be free for those who already own the game, there’s also a newly released paid DLC pack that adds a bunch of new stuff in, too.
Let’s start with the free stuff, right? Specifically, the game’s latest Update 6.00 will introduce two new Moroccan tracks – Ait Ojana and Tinghir – and they will feature, “challenging terrains, big jumps, and buffeting sandstorms.” Elsewhere, the latest patch will add a handful of new liveries for the, “MINI Cooper SX1, Armada Engineering Unlimited Truck, Volkswagen Beetle Rallycross, Porsche Macan T1 Rally Raid, and Renault Megane R.S RX.” as well.
Meanwhile, Dirt 5’s latest paid DLC pack – which is officially dubbed the Wild Spirits Content Pack – boasts the addition of two new cars, 25 Career events, five new achievements/trophies, and more. This aforementioned premium content pack will set you back $7.99/£6.99 and is available to download now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC. The addition of PlayGrounds is the perfect example of just how different Codemasters’ approach to Dirt 5 is. It’s not supposed to be a hardcore off-road sim, it’s designed to be a game that weaves the series’ traditionally excellent racing mechanics into a package that’s accessible and focused on fun before everything else.
That lack of challenge and sense of progression won’t be for everyone, and might even put off Dirt veterans, but Dirt 5’s a varied and beautiful racing game that’s a blast from event number one.
