Animal Crossing: Import Famous Artwork With Free Museum-Curated Tools And QR Codes

Animal Crossing: New Horizons came at a fortuitous time for many players, creating a happy refuge during the outbreak of the coronavirus. Public spaces like museums have been impacted by the pandemic as well, and have put some of their efforts during the shutdowns into joining the Animal Crossing craze.

At least two museums--the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, England and the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, California--have set up free tools allowing Animal Crossing players to import famous artwork into their games. Both sites have a selection of QR codes with some of their collection ready to go.

The Ashmolean collection includes short descriptions of the curated artwork, while the Getty tool is a bit more flexible in allowing you to select your artwork's cropping or import your own IIIF files.
