Call of Duty Modern Warfare II Teaser Unveiled; Full Reveal Coming Next Week

1 year 10 months ago

Today, Infinite Ward has revealed a brand new teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, boasting the “Ultimate Team” that will make up the game’s revamped story. Alongside the video, it was also stated that a Worldwide reveal would be coming next week, June 8, 2022, at 10am PT.

You can check out the trailer and a bit of info from the official Infinity Ward blog post below.

Throughout all of its accomplishments, Infinity Ward has been hard at work staying true to its core value: continue innovating Call of Duty and how it delivers to one of the greatest gaming communities out there.

We most recently saw this in 2019’s Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare®, which was a step-change forward for Call of Duty as it became an instant hit and best-seller with fans everywhere.

Innovations continued as the game was an example of the franchise’s new approach to post-release content: having every base weapon and functional attachment unlocked through base gameplay, removing the Season Pass in favor of free post-launch content, and introducing the new Battle Pass system for rewarding players for just playing Call of Duty.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Is The Official Name Of BioWare's New RPG

1 year 10 months ago

No longer shall it be called Dragon Age 4, as developer BioWare has revealed a new name for the upcoming RPG that will henceforth be known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.

A blog post announcing the title also goes into one possible meaning behind it. It's of course a reference to Solas, AKA The Dread Wolf, who happens to share a moniker with the game, although with a slight difference in spelling. Once an ally to players, this Solas is being set up as the big bad in Dreadwolf. The post describes him as maybe being "an ancient elven god, but some say not. Others say a betrayer of his people…or a savior who now seeks to rescue them at the cost of your world. His motives are inscrutable and his methods sometimes questionable, earning him a reputation as something of a trickster deity—a player of dark and dangerous games."

Interview: Preparing Touken Ranbu Warriors and Picking Its Characters

Interview: Preparing Touken Ranbu Warriors and Picking Its Characters

We’re in a very unique situation! A Musou based on a niche game actually made it outside Japan. Koei Tecmo took a shot and localized Touken Ranbu Warriors. Now it is out worldwide on the Nintendo Switch and PC. To learn more about Touken Ranbu Warriors and its characters, SIliconera spoke with Ruby Party Producer Mei Erikawa and Omega Force Producer Tomohiko Sho about their experiences working on the game.

Jenni Lada, Siliconera: How did Touken Ranbu Warriors come to be? Also, how did the COVID-19 pandemic affect its
development?

Tomohiko Sho, Omega Force: Well, it began with Ruby Party approaching Nitroplus and DMM GAMES about releasing a home console adventure game for Touken Ranbu -ONLINE-. As discussions continued, Nitroplus made the suggestion that “if it’s a console game, then what about a collaboration with the Warriors series?” And it just happened that around that time one of the game magazines in Japan held a reader survey asking what work they’d like to see collaborate with the Warriors series and Touken Ranbu -ONLINE- was the top pick, so that also encouraged the collaboration.

In terms of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was an issue faced not only for this title but for the entire company, so the shift to a hybrid workstyle had a big effect on development. But we figured out ways of working on development during the COVID-19 pandemic, and as a result we were able to overcome it without any incidents and were able to release the game.

While the announcement is sparse on details, it does include a live-action trailer sporting the tagline, “The ultimate weapon is team.” The trailer features a group of fierce soldiers preparing for battle in a vehicle that opens up at the end as the storm toward the enemy.

MultiVersus: 13 Cool Little Details

1 year 10 months ago

When developer Player First and Warner Brothers were creating their new platform fighter, MultiVersus, which ties together all the WB properties, including Game of Thrones, DC, Looney Tunes and more, a lot of attention clearly went into the small details. From backstory references to character interactions and gameplay mechanics, MultiVersus has tons of fun little Warner Bros’ IP details to notice while you and your friends are beating the crap out of each other. Here are 13 of the coolest found in its closed alpha.

1. Scooby Doo’s Velma is the only character so far with a crouch walk, and when she does it, the screen blurs because she’s looking for her glasses. We all know she can’t see without her glasses.

2. When Steven Universe’s Garnet loses, her loss screen animation has her exploding and dropping two gems. This is because Garnet is a fusion of Ruby and Sapphire.

3. The advanced tutorial for Dodge Attacks features Rick and Morty’s Mr. Meeseeks as training dummies. Mr. Meeseeks, of course, are organisms designed only for one task, who disappear when that task is fulfilled. Apparently, their one task here is to get clubbed by Shaggy. What a waste. Since so far this is the only Rick and Morty character in the game, perhaps it could also be a tease at a later character reveal down the line?

But, once you analyze all the statements and facts, you can see a more transparent overview of these lawsuits. Here is an explanation of all the charges and verdicts in the Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard Trial.

The Verdict in the Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard Trial

A jury of seven people found Amber Heard and Johnny Depp liable for defamation. Although both of them were charged, Depp is claimed to be the one who successfully won the case since Amber Heard’s compensation was significantly lower than her ex-husband’s. Furthermore, because of the multiple charges against her, she owes Johnny Depp a considerable amount of money.

All Charges Explained

Johnn Depp Charges

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor is charged with compensatory damages against Amber Heard. This type of damage compensates plaintiffs that have experienced loss, including mental anguish and long-term physical pain.

Depp owes his ex-wife two million dollars since his past attorney, Adam Waldman, defamed her in The Daily Mail. The jury analyzed the statements made against Heard in the tabloid and issued a charge against one particular accusation. Waldman claimed that she painted herself as the victim by roughing up her apartment before the police arrived. The court proceeded to charge Depp with defamation because of the comments within this piece.

Bioware Officially Reveals Dragon Age: Dreadwolf; Promises More Info Later This Year

1 year 10 months ago

Today, Bioware officially confirmed that the next installment in the Dragon Age series would be called Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. The news came by way of a blog post, which also detailed more information on the reason and meaning behind the name.

You can check out that brief synopsis on who the Dreadwolf is in Dragon Age below.

Solas, the Dread Wolf. Some say he might be an ancient elven god, but some say not. Others say a betrayer of his people…or a savior who now seeks to rescue them at the cost of your world. His motives are inscrutable and his methods sometimes questionable, earning him a reputation as something of a trickster deity—a player of dark and dangerous games.

Whether you’re new to Dragon Age™ stories or you’ve experienced them all, using Solas’s namesake no doubt suggests a spectrum of endless possibilities on where things may go. But at the core of this, like every past game, is you. If you’re new to Dragon Age, you have no need to worry about not having met our antagonist just yet. He’ll properly introduce himself when the time is right, but we did hint at his return when we announced #TheDreadWolfRises back in 2018.

Street Fighter 6 Makes A Splash At State Of Play, Coming In 2023

1 year 10 months ago

Capcom brought out the big guns for Sony's State of Play Presentation, first announcing a remake of Resident Evil 4 is coming next year, but Street Fighter 6 is also confirmed for 2023. Not only did the next installment of the legendary fighting game franchise make an appearance, but there was plenty of in-game footage shown, along with a second trailer showing a revolutionary new feature.

First, the footage shown in the State of Play introduced a new single-player mode for SF6 called World Tour, which has players roaming the streets in an open world picking fights with other world warriors. The other is Battle Hub which is where players can throw down in matches online. Capcom states the mode will "further expand the scope of player communication and engagement."

As for the characters shown, Luke was at the heart of the trailer, displaying his powerful punches in a gym, and he looks to be teaming up with newcomer Jamie who utilizes some form of drunken boxing. Redesigns were shown for Ryu and Chun-Li, both of which are modeled to be a bit older than they were in SF5, with Ryu sporting his new beard and attire. Chun-Li is also seen going toe-to-toe with a woman who may be Li-Fen, who would also be debuting in Street Fighter 6.

Rollerdrome Blends Combat With Skate Stunts On PlayStation And PC

1 year 10 months ago

If you thought football (both types) would continue being popular in the year 2030, you are apparently wrong. A new bloodsport called rollerdrome will apparently become all the rage in that year. Rollerdrome is in development at Roll7, the studio behind the OlliOlli series, and will be published by Private Division on August 16 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Rollerdrome

Anyone can compete in this deadly game, but the deck is stacked against them, as they take on house players (much like the American Gladiators show). The goal of each competitor is to achieve the highest score possible, by combining rollerskate tricks with eliminations. The player assumes the identity of Kara Hassan as she enters her first match. Your goal is to rise the ranks and hopefully become the Rollerdome champion – meaning you stay alive.

“It’s been amazing to see this project come to life from the original prototype that received a lot of love online, all the way to the brutal and intense experience it is now – thanks to the amazing work of the team at Roll7,″ Paul Rabbitte, creative director at Roll7, said. “We’re really excited for players to jump into Rollerdrome.”

Brutal New Footage Shows Off The Callisto Protocol For December Release

The game got a new trailer at today’s presentation, along with a December 2 launch date.

For those not in the know, Striking Distance Studios is led by Glen Schofield, the same person who helped lead development of the original Dead Space way back in 2008. Even as EA is actively working on a remake of that original game, Schofield’s team is charting out a new universe of horror that is clearly inspired by the gameplay and visual palette of that older game.

In the new trailer, we get an extensive glimpse at the gory and terrifying gameplay in store for players when the game launches later this year. We see protagonist Jacob Lee as he makes his way through one scary-looking outer space locale to the next, often with the looming presence of the gas giant planet of Jupiter overhead.

Jacob wanders through tight and dimly lit corridors before an array of monsters manage to get to him. We see an interesting mix of melee and ranged weapons that the scared hero can wield. But even with some helpful toys, things don't always go well for Jacob. Striking Distance is pulling no punches in regard to what happens to their lead character if players don’t manage to pull him out of trouble.

Tunic Coming To PlayStation This September

1 year 10 months ago

Tunic is finally making its way to Sony's machines. Announced Thursday during the most recent State of Play livestream, the indie darling will be released on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on September 27 of this year.

When it was released on Xbox consoles and PC back in March, Tunic received near-unanimous acclaim from critics, who most often cited its Zelda-like exploration and Souls-like combat. It didn't hurt that the game, which stars a little fox on a big adventure, was painfully adorable. As we said in our review, "Tunic is a stunning achievement that manages to embody the best of nostalgia while being completely refreshing. It’s absolutely a must-play gem."

[Update] Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered And Miles Morales Hit PC Later This Year

1 year 10 months ago

Update, 6/3/22:

During yesterday’s State of Play showcase, Sony revealed Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered would be coming to PC on August 12. It turns out Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is actually coming to PC this year, too, according to a PlayStation Blog Post spotted by IGN. However, while Spider-Man Remastered will be released on PC this summer, the PlayStation blog says Miles Morales will “launch on PC in fall 2022,” so presumably later than August 12.

Oddly enough, PlayStation didn’t reveal Miles Morales was coming to PC during yesterday’s showcase, an odd exclusion for a segment of the show that was all about Spider-Man’s big PC release. Nonetheless, you can play through both of Insomniac’s Spider-Man games on PC later this year.

The original story continues below...

Original story, 6/2/22:

Have you been wanting to web-sling as Spidey on your PC? You’re in luck! Today, at Sony’s State of Play, it was announced that Insomniac’s Spider-Man is coming to PC in its remastered form on August 12. Previously, you could only play the game on PS4 and PS5.

New Final Fantasy 16 Trailer Reveals Extended Look At Gameplay, Summer 2023 Release Window

1 year 10 months ago

A new trailer for Final Fantasy XVI was released during today's PlayStation State of Play, and it revealed a whole lot of war, turmoil, and primals.

It also gave us extended looks at gameplay and a summer 2023 release window, which might come as a surprise considering producer Naoki Yoshida said in April that FF XVI was near the end of development. The trailer, which dove deep into the story of FF XVI, focuses on the war that will soon be waged between warring kingdoms, with the Empire seemingly leading the charge. At the heart of this war are multiple key figures who appear to have the ability to transform into (or at least embody) primals, which have traditionally been summons in Final Fantasy games.

Check them out for yourself in the trailer below

Here are the primals/summons seen in the trailer:

Take Your First Look At Resident Evil 4 Remake Coming In March 2023

1 year 10 months ago

Sony opened Thursday's State of Play livestream by announcing the long-rumored, often-leaked Resident Evil 4 Remake. While the brief trailer didn't show much in the way of gameplay, it did show various locations and characters from the game, and most importantly, a release date: March 24, 2023.

Most strikingly – and predictably – the new Resident Evil 4 looks leagues better visually than its 2005 counterpart. During the minute-long trailer, we see protagonist Leon Kennedy, antihero Ada Wong, Ashley Graham, Luis, and brief glimpses of antagonists Osmund Saddler and Bitores Mendez. The trailer also shows quick looks at Salazar Castle and the iconic village from the beginning of RE4 and the baddies that inhabit them. The voiceover seems to indicate the game's story has been expanded and will act as a more direct sequel to Resident Evil 2, which also stars Leon as its protagonist.

The trailer ends with a brief tease that VR content is also in development for Resident Evil 4.

Horizon Call Of The Mountain Gets Gameplay Trailer, But No Release Date

1 year 10 months ago

"Climb the mountain. Find out why the machines are attacking." Today's Sony State of Play brought fans another look at Guerrilla Games' VR adventure, Horizon Call of the Mountain, though the trailer didn't specify a release window. However, it did reveal some of the game's big narrative plot points. The trailer, which you can watch below, was also filled with lush environments and showed off several impressive, first-person shots of the world's monstrous machines.

You'll be playing as Ryas, an entirely new character, who was once a Shadow Carja. He finds himself mysteriously released from prison by Blameless Marad, the Sun King's right-hand man, to combat a deadly threat. Skilled at climbing and archery, Ryas ends up washed ashore after a Snapmaw attacks his two captors. The wild rapids look like they'll be an experience in the PSVR2 game's campaign, but players can check out even more rushing waters in the Call of the Mountain River Ride. This bonus feature offers to show you Horizon's world in a totally new way.

A post on PlayStation's blog offered more insight for players who are ready to jump into the Ryas' story, saying:

PlayStation VR2 Lands Three Juggernaut Games, Including Resident Evil Village

1 year 10 months ago

Sony's State of Play livestream delivered plenty of fireworks in the form of notable game announcements. A few of these reveals are games designed exclusively for the forthcoming PlayStation VR2 headset. We still haven't gotten our hands on this highly anticipated device, and today Sony made the wait for this moment all the more difficult with the announcement that Resident Evil Village, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution, and No Man's Sky are all in development for it.

The footage for Resident Evil Village doesn't make the experience look much different, as it was already first person, but if it's anything like the other Resident Evil experiences, the headset will up the terror and immersion.

The Walking Dead gave us glimpses of using a chainsaw against zombie hordes, as well as other sharp instruments and firearms. Skydance Interactive and Skybound Entertainment say the game is slated to release in late 2022 for PSVR2.

No Man's Sky looks absolutely stunning, but we'll have to wait to get our hands on it to see if it's any different than the PC version.

What did you think of Sony's showcase? Are you excited for PSVR2? Let us know in the chat below.

New FFXVI Trailer Appears at June 2022 State of Play

Producer Naoki Yoshida said a new FFXVI trailer was on the way. Well, it turns out it debuted during the June 2, 2022 State of Play. It also ended up with a Summer 2023 launch window.

The new trailer begins with someone bringing up the “Dominance.” It then brings up that the power people use “wears away” at them. Hints of another war appear.

From there, the trailer goes over the FFXVI combat system. It shows fights against various foes. Both humans and traditional summons we’ve seen for years show up. The trailer ends with a number of familiar summons mentioned before showing them in action. Phoenix, Titan, Garuda, Ramuh, Shiva, Ifrit, Odin, and Bahamut all show up.

Here's the newest look at the FFXVI State of Play June 2022 trailer.

We already knew a new FFXIV trailer and additional announcements were coming. In December 2021, a delay was confirmed and a Spring 2022 window was set for announcements. Then in April 2022, Yoshida said it was nearing the end of its development. Once the June 2022 State of Play was announced, many suspected FFXVI would appear.
