1 year 10 months ago

Today's Pokémon Violet and Scarlet trailer has revealed key details about the upcoming Nintendo Switch games, such as a series-first ability to explore the game's world in a party of four players.

Speaking of the game's world, this will be the first Pokémon role-playing game where you can freely explore the entire map from the off - and "not in an order dictated by the story", as The Pokémon Company clarified today.

"Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet allow multiplayer gameplay with up to four players," The Pokémon Company said. "Along with series staples, such as trading and battling Pokémon, you will be able to explore the various locations of the region in these games with other players. Chucklefish's Witchbrook is still alive, pretty new screenshots show

1 year 10 months ago

Remember Witchbrook? First announced by Chucklefish back in 2017, this mix of magic school wizardry and Stardew Valley had begun to feel like vapourware.

Today, however, Chucklefish released a handful of new screenshots showing more of Witchbrook in action - and still in development. First off, above, we have a literal witch and a brook. And ducks.

Below, there's a glimpse at the game's garden area and greenhouse. Is this where herbology is taught? We can also see a variety of character models showing young witches and wizards from different backgrounds. Also a sleeping cat.

"Show gangs who's boss by enforcing a strict code of conduct among your inmates, and turn gang members into valuable members of society."

So, that all sounds very exciting, but what is this Boiling Point you speak of, Victoria? Well, I am so glad you asked.

Is Pokemon Scarlet and Violet an Open World Game? Answered

1 year 8 months ago

As is the case with most new Pokemon games, Scarlet and Violet bring a number of changes, new creatures to catch and much more. Following the release of Pokemon Arceus: Legends, which experimented with a true open-world formula, some players are now wondering if Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are open world games?

Are Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Open World?

The good news is that yes, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are open world games. As noted on the official site for the latest entries in the series “Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are the first open-world RPGs in the Pokemon series. As you enjoy the hallmarks of the series — meeting, teaming up with, battling, training and trading Pokemon — you’ll be able to immerse yourself in a newly evolved adventure.”

This isn’t a half-step measure that you might have expected either, the site goes on to explain that Scarlet and Violet will offer “a world that you’re free to explore at your leisure and not in an order dictated by the story.”

How Big Is the Open World?

Currently, Game Freak and The Pokemon Company have yet to announce how many towns and cities will make up the region players will explore in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, however, we do know that the games will take place in the Paldea Region.

According to a blog post, the Paldea Region is “a land of vast open spaces dotted with lakes, towering peaks, wastelands, and perilous mountain ranges.” The locations also seem varied, such as a “farming village with bountiful harvests” to a “port town with a bustling marketplace.”

You can see an overview of the Paldea region below.

How to Save in Diablo Immortal

1 year 10 months ago

As you’re progressing through Diablo Immortal, chances are you’re going to want to know how to save so you know all your loot is safe and sound. The problem is, whether you’re accessing the game on PC or an iOS or Android mobile device, there’s not actually a ‘Save Game’ button in any of the menus.

Saving Your Game in Diablo Immortal on PC and Mobile

The good news is that saving in Diablo Immortal is done automatically as you make any sort of progress towards your objective.

You’ll know that your progress has been saved when you see a big ol’ ‘SAVED’ appear on your screen. From our experience, this only tends to appear when you’ve made progress towards an objective which is tracked on the left-hand side of the screen.

If you make a change to your gear loadout, equip a new skill or just move around the world without seeing the ‘SAVED’ message appear next to your objective, your progress won’t have been saved and you’ll need to progress on a little bit before exiting out of the game.

Is There a Manual Save Option?

No, there’s no way to manually save your game in Diablo Immortal. Instead, you’ll need to rely on the autosave system noted above to record your progress.

This does appear to happen fairly regularly if you’re working your way through the objectives, though. We’d always recommend pushing on until you get the on-screen notification, rather than relying on your previous save, especially if you’ve netted some fancy loot recently.

Madden NFL 23 Covers Pay Tribute To The Career Of John Madden

1 year 10 months ago

Madden NFL 23 cover art

John Madden has lent his name to the longest-running NFL franchise in the video game industry for nearly three and a half decades and EA Sports is honoring the memory of the late coach and broadcaster with three separate covers for Madden NFL 23. Following John Madden's passing in December 2021, EA Sports made the call to dedicate this year's game to the man who made the franchise possible in the first place. To do so, rather than featuring an athlete on the cover of Madden NFL 23, EA Sports created three distinct covers to celebrate the three major areas of John Madden's contributions to the game of football.

The first cover honors John Madden's contributions to the NFL as a coach, featuring him being carried off the field on the shoulders of his players following his head coaching victory in Super Bowl XI in 1976. Next up, is an homage to his time as an NFL color commentator, which he did for CBS Sports, Fox Sports, ABC Sports, and NBC Sports from 1979 to 2009. The final Madden NFL 23 cover pays tribute to his contributions to his NFL video game franchise, with a digital-only All-Madden Edition. The art, created by Philadelphia artist Chuck Styles, recreates the original 1988 John Madden Football box art.

New Pokémon Violet And Scarlet Trailer Reveals Four-Player Co-Op, New Legendaries, And More

1 year 10 months ago

New Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet Trailer Legendaries Co-op

The Pokémon Company has released a new trailer for Pokémon Violet and Pokémon Scarlet and it reveals the new professors, four-player co-op capabilities, the new legendaries, the box art for the two games, and more.

It also reveals that Pokémon Violet and Scarlet will hit Switch on Nov. 18. On that day, you'll be able to choose between the three starters: Fuecoco, Sprigatito, and Quaxly. They will likely be given to you by the new professors (yes, plural) of Generation 9: Professor Sada if you're playing Scarlet (left) and Professor Turo if you're playing Violet (right).

You can check them out in action in the trailer below:

Shortly after their introduction, the trailer reveals that four-player co-op will be in Scarlet and Violet, a first for the Pokémon series. It won't be limited to just online battles like in previous games, though – it seems we'll be able to explore the region with other players. Throughout the trailer, we get glimpses at returning favorites and new Pokémon, such as Pawmi, Lechonk (great name), and Smoliv.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Will Include 4-Player Co-Op Multiplayer

1 year 10 months ago

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will include four-player co-op in addition to its regular trading and battling multiplayer.

Announced on the games' website following the unveiling of its release date in a new trailer, Scarlet and Violet promise "a deeper experience with multiplayer gameplay".

"You will be able to explore the various locations of the region in these games with other players," the site reads. "You can discover new Pokémon and explore unfamiliar areas with your friends and family, opening the door to an adventure more previous and fun than ever."

While details haven't been offered – we don't know if there are specific multiplayer areas, for example – the move would seem to go hand-in-hand with the games' more open structure. Scarlet and Violet will be open world games, and players will be able to visit areas in any order, without the story gating progress. The trailer (above) seems to back this up as a feature of multiplayer, seemingly showing four players in a single game, exploring very different areas simultaneously.

It's not clear how traditional multiplayer elements like trading and battling will be be affected by co-op either. It seems very possible that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet may allow players to join each other's games not just to explore, but also battle and trade in-person. However, we do seem to see remote trading taking place in the trailer, too.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Get November Release Date

1 year 10 months ago

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be released on November 18, as revealed in a new trailer. The game will feature a new open world structure, and four-player co-op for the first time.

The trailer (below) shows off a lot of the new mainline Pokémon game's world, and introduces two new legendary monsters, Koraidon (who appears in Scarlet) and Miraodon (in Violet). "These two Pokémon are said to have powers that far surpass those of other Pokémon," reads a description on the Pokémon website, "but details about Koraidon and Miraidon are still shrouded in mystery."

We'd already gotten a look at the game's starters – the Grass Cat Sprigatito, the Fire Croc Fuecoco, and the Water Duckling Quaxly – but this trailer reveals a number of new regular monsters too, including a teary-eyed truffle pig called Lechonk, a grass/normal type based on an olive called Smoliv, and Pawmi, a new electric mouse Pokémon.

Diablo Immortal has started its global roll-out on iOS and Android devices

1 year 10 months ago

Diablo Immortal - Blizzard's free-to-play take on its long-running dungeon crawler series - has started its global roll-out, and is now available to download on iOS and Android devices in certain territories.

First announced at BlizzCon in 2018 - where it was less than warmly received by attendees - Diablo Immortal takes place between the events of Diablo 2 and 3, adapting the classic dungeon crawling formula of its predecessors for mobile devices - which, among other things, means a free-to-play monetisation model based around in-app purchases.

Starting out in the city of Westmarch, players can adopt one of six classes - Barbarian, Wizard, Monk, Crusader, Necromancer, or Demon Hunter - and journey out to explore eight areas along with other adventurers. Blizzard and co-developer NetEase have previously said additional zones, storylines, loot, and classes will be added over time.

Autonauts coming to Switch, PlayStation and Xbox this month

On 16th June, those who own either a Nintendo Switch, an Xbox or a PlayStation will be able to get their hands on the formally PC exclusive and BAFTA winning Autonauts.

For those who don't know already, Autonauts is a game where you build and then train robots to automate the world around you. Sounds easy enough, but there is a catch. In short, these robots are only ever going to be as smart as you tell them to be.

It is up to you as the player to teach your bots what do. You will need to upgrade them and expand their brains as the game progresses, opening up their full operational potential. You can build dozens of different workerbots on your planet and make it a "fully functioning home" with their help. By fully functioning home, we are talking cooking, mining, construction, you name it.

Sniper Elite 5 tech analysis: Rebellion's in-house Asura engine continues to impress

1 year 10 months ago

After a five-year wait, Sniper Elite 5 is here. This WW2 stealth shooter delivers gratifying kills and open-ended flexibility, but it's also a rare example of big new title developed on a unique engine: Rebellion's in-house Asura. With promised improvements to asset quality and full support for current-gen consoles, has Rebellion hit its mark? Or have their efforts fallen just short of the target? We looked at the PS5 and Series X/S versions to find out.

Before we get into the deeper technical changes, let's cover the basics. All current-gen console versions use a dynamic resolution, maxing out at 4K on PS5 and Series X and 1440p on Series S. Minimum resolutions were measured at 1440p on PS5, 1656p on Series X and 864p on Series S - although 1080p is more typical.

So far, so standard, but then this base resolution image is cleaned up with post-processed AA, rather than a more standard TAA. That unfortunately results in rather aliased results and stability issues in motion. What looks like AMD's FSR 1.0 technology is used to upscale to the console's final output resolution, which produces a sharper image - albeit one with shimmering in foliage and specular elements.

Diablo Immortal’s hack-and-slash-style combat is pretty chaotic, and you’ll often be swarmed by dozens of enemies at once. With that in mind, the game is pretty generous with allowing you to replenish your health. There are two principal ways to go about this:

Sims 4: All Kill Sims Cheats

1 year 10 months ago

The Sims series has always been about managing your little Sims’ lives. Building them a house, raising a family, and enriching their lives in any conceivable way you can think of. Or you can just kill them. Either way, the world of Sims is your oyster. An oyster that also has kill Sims cheats!

While yes, in theory, you can kill your Sims without using cheats in The Sims 4, that can take quite some time. The easier way to put an end to that Sim that continues to just piss you off for reasons unknown it to just use one of the cheats below.

How to Enable Cheats in The Sims 4

You can’t just go typing in these kill Sims cheats down below willy nilly. You’ll need to type them into the console command bar. This can be opened by pressing CTRL, Shift, and C at the same time.

While you don’t necessarily need to do this next step for these Sims, we advise doing it anyway, just so it’s out of the way and you won’t need to worry about it in future if you start experimenting with other cheats.

With the little window open by pressing CTRL, Shift, and C, simply enter “testingcheats true” and press Enter. This will allow you to use all kinds of cheats in The Sims 4. Now, onto this kill cheats themselves.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Lechonk Has a Hilariously Fitting Google Autocorrect

1 year 8 months ago

Unless you live under a rock, you’ve likely seen, or at least heard, by now that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have two brand new trailers that have just been released. In the videos, Nintendo shows off plenty of important news, including a release date, gameplay, and a handful of new Pokemon.

Of all these new characters, though, one has already managed to grab Pokemon fans thanks to its adorable name and simple design. No, it isn’t the snake-like Legendaries, Koraidon and Miraidon. Instead, a simple little normal-type hog Pokemon named Lechonk is the internet’s new favorite Pokemon.

You can check out the official description for Lechonk below:

“Lechonk uses its sense of smell to find and eat only the most fragrant wild grasses and the richest Berries. As a result of its dining habits, it has come to radiate an aroma resembling herbs that bug Pokémon dislike.”

Reading that description and hearing the name, it isn’t hard to see why people are falling in love with Lechonk. What’s even more hilarious about this Pokemon is that when you search its name, Google assumes you’re looking up the Spanish name for a suckling pig, aka a lechon.

FIFA 22: How to Play With Friends in All Game Modes

1 year 10 months ago

Like many games, FIFA 22 is best when playing with friends. In this year’s game, the options for doing so are more plentiful than ever before with the introduction of online co-op to Ultimate Team. Here is everything you need to know about how to play with friends in FIFA 22, no matter which mode you’re playing in.

How to Play With Friends in FIFA 22

You’re able to play with friends in pretty much every mode in FIFA 22. Even career mode, which is a single-player focused experience, allows you to play couch co-op. First and foremost, you and a buddy can simply play head to head in the Kick Off mode.

Kick Off

The basic mode that’s the home of every couch rivalry is simple to understand. Go to Kick Off in the main menu and you’ll be prompted to connect all the controllers you want and select sides. Move the controller icon to the same side if you want to be on the same team.

From here, you can also sign into your account and FIFA 22 will track your head to head record so that you can see who’s on top over the course of the game cycle.

You can then choose match type (Classic, UCL, Volta, House Rules, etc.) and choose your team before kicking off.

Kick Off mode also allows you to change the length of each half of a match, as well as a number of other fun settings, too, where other game modes will keep you to the traditional rules of FIFA.

How to Play With Friends in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team

Ultimate Team is still the most popular mode in FIFA and the multiplayer options are more varied than ever this year. To play with friends, head to Friendlies in the Play section.

Is Pokemon Scarlet and Violet an MMO?

1 year 8 months ago

If you’re wondering is Pokemon Scarlet and Violet an MMO, then you’re in the right place. Yes, in this guide, we’ll answer that very specific question. So, without further ado, let’s dive in, shall we?

Will Pokemon Scarlet and Violet be an MMO?

Interestingly, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will feature online multiplayer for the first time in the series’ history. This means that you’ll be able to party up with up to four of your friends or family and meet up, explore, collect, and battle together.

According to the game’s official site, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will:

[…] Allow multiplayer gameplay with up to four players. Along with series staples, such as trading and battling Pokémon, you will be able to explore the various locations of the region in these games with other players. You can discover new Pokémon and explore unfamiliar areas with your friends and family, opening the door to an adventure more precious and fun than ever!

Because of the new multiplayer component of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it’s understandable to think that it could be described as an MMO (massively multiplayer online game). However, traditionally, MMOs feature much larger servers, which accommodate up to 100+ players at a time.

1 year 8 months ago

Most importantly, it answers the question of when does Pokemon Scarlet and Violet release. Here is everything you need to know.

When Does Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Come Out?

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have both been confirmed for a release date of Nov. 18, 2022, launching exclusively on Nintendo Switch. As with most releases in the series, each title will have its own exclusive Legendary character, with no differences otherwise stated.

As always, there is still plenty of time between now and the game’s release date, so we will be sure to update you if anything changes in terms of possible delays for both games. For example, pre-orders for the game have recently been shown off, with different retailers providing specific incentives for getting it through them. Speedy Eggbert's level editor made it the best game to ever score 4%

I used to draw Abe’s Oddysee levels. Then Abe’s Exoddus, when that came out. Also, before them, every other platform game I ever got my hands on. Take a sheet of plain paper, turn it horizontal, draw two long lines across it, dividing it into three strips. That’s a level; that’s a side-scrolling environment. That’s what I’d do, basically all the time, basically every day. You could call me a budding game designer, only I had no knowledge of how to transfer my genius creations into digital form. I’d tried before, with Doom, but the editor was incomprehensible. Sectors? Vectors? Call me a particularly stupid child, but I just wanted to draw two long lines on a piece of paper.

Enter Speedy Eggbert, a budget-priced platform game that scored “the world’s first generous 4% review” in PC Gamer magazine. But I wasn’t aware of that yet. I was, though, aware of its big, shiny box on the shelves of Game, with its gorgeously embossed Eggbert and a reverse emblazoned with screenshots and features, including the most enticing few words I’d ever seen – “MAKE YOUR OWN LEVELS!”
