Arcade1Up Announces Pro Series Cabinets With A Bigger Killer Instinct Machine

2 years 3 months ago

Arcade1Up, makers of affordable arcade cabinets built at a manageable size to put in your home, is broadening its product line to offer a larger, full-size machine for collectors who want a more true-to-arcade experience.

The first in the line of Arcade1Up's Pro Series cabinets features a handful of games, centered around Rare's classic fighter, Killer Instinct. What makes the Pro Series stand apart from its contemporaries isn't its slate of games, though; it's the construction of the cabinet itself.

Arcade1Up's traditional home arcade machines stand somewhere between 47" and 57" tall, depending on whether you have it sitting on the height-boosting riser. The Killer Instinct Pro Series cabinet measures in at 67.5" tall (or 5ft 6in), almost a foot taller than the typical cab with a riser setup. Its monitor is also larger at 19 inches compared to Arcade1Up's standard 17-inch screens. Other premium additions include a lit marquee, faux chrome trim, molded fake coin slots, an upgraded joystick, and "more generous spacing between components that improves precision." It even comes with a Killer Instinct branded swivel stool that sports a backrest for (hopefully) comfortable seated play. Not bad!

Nobody Saves The World Release Date Revealed And It’s Coming Later This Month

2 years 3 months ago

Nobody Saves The World, the upcoming action RPG from Guacamelee developers Drinkbox Studios, has a release date and it’s less than two weeks away.

More specifically, it will be released on January 18 and as previously announced, it will hit Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC via Windows 10 and Steam for $24.99. However, if you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber or a member of Microsoft’s PC Game Pass, the game will hit those services on day one, meaning you can download them for free.

Click here to watch embedded media

Hopefully, you’ve got a friend lined up to play Nobody Saves The World with, too, because the game features online co-op, although it does not feature cross-play so you’ll need to be on the same platform as your friend to play together.

In Nobody Saves The World, you control a “featureless nobody” that can transform into a variety of different animals and creatures, including a slug, a ghost, a dragon, a rat, a robot, and much more. You’ll need to swap between over 15 different forms with mixed and matched abilities to unlock and complete quests to progress through the game’s narrative.

Speaking of abilities, Drinkbox says there are over 80 different Form abilities, meaning each player will likely have their own customized build that works best for them. You might play as an egg that leaves a trail of slime behind you or a rat that shoots fireballs – the choice is up to you.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk Flaunts Its Stylish Moves In New Trailer

2 years 3 months ago

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, the upcoming Jet Set Radio-inspired game by the makers of Lethal League, is all about style. With that in mind, what’s cooler than hitting a bunch of sick tricks set to a fresh soundtrack? Not much based on this latest trailer.

Although the video doesn’t update players on when Bomb Rush Cyberfunk will drop, it does provide a glimpse into some of the cool moves you can pull off. Whether you’re tearing up the city on a pair of skates, a bike, or a skateboard, executing stylish rail grinds and nailing combos is not only fun but vital to progression. The crux of the game is tagging enough spots with your graffiti and out-tricking other crews to earn enough reputation to challenge them for territory control. Mastering traversal also matters for reaching hidden areas of the city that may contain secrets.

If this modern homage has you chomping at the bit to play it, developer Team Reptile promises in the video's description that it's “going in hard” to get Bomb Rush Cyberfunk out the door this year. The game is slated to arrive on Switch and PC.

What do you think of this latest look at Bomb Rush Cyberfunk? Let us know in the comments!

Rainbow Six Extraction will be on Game Pass at launch

2 years 3 months ago

Ubisoft today announced a surprising upcoming addition to Game Pass: Rainbow Six Extraction will be available on Microsoft's subscription service right from the start when it launches later this month. The monster-mashing spin-off from R6 Siege isn't one of their full-price games, coming at a slightly cheaper £34, but still, damn, that's a good get. And exactly the sort of game I likely wouldn't buy new but would try on Game Pass.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction Will Be Available Day One on Game Pass

2 years 3 months ago

January was already looking to be a solid month for Xbox Game Pass, with Mass Effect Legendary Edition coming to the service, but now subscribers can look forward to a brand new title as well. Microsoft and Ubisoft have announced that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction is coming to Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass on day one.

The Rainbow Six PvE spinoff is coming to Game Pass on January 20, the same day it releases on Xbox Series X|S, PS5/PS4, Stadia, and PC. Ubisoft is pricing Rainbow Six Extraction at a budget price point of $39.99 for players who plan to buy the game.

Extraction is also introducing a cross-play Buddy Pass, where every copy of the game comes with two passes to invite friends to play for free for 14 days.

Rainbow Six Extraction is a co-op PvE first-person shooter, where you can work with up to two other players to take down an alien enemy called the Archeans. The game was originally titled Rainbow Six Quarantine when it was announced at E3 2019. Ubisoft temporarily changed the name to Rainbow Six Parasite, before finally settling on Extraction with the game's re-reveal last summer. In addition to the new title, Game Pass subscribers can also access Rainbow Six Siege, Extraction's PvP counterpart, beginning January 20.

Valorant’s Newest Agent Revealed, Arrives Next Update

2 years 3 months ago

Riot Games have pulled the curtains back on the newest agent joining Valorant and her name is Neon.

Revealed by way of a special agent trailer, Neon is a fast-paced electric shooter that seemingly specializes in zooming all over a given map quicker than any other agent in the game. The short story trailer, which runs less than three minutes, reveals that Neon is a Manila, Philippines-based agent with an excellent taste in music.

Click here to watch embedded media

As you can see in the trailer, Neon is a fan of Entertain Me by Ylona Garcia and 88rising. She’s also seemingly a fan of dreaming about what players are going to accomplish on the battlefield using her powers. We see her sprinting and sliding all over the maps shown in the trailer, using her electricity to make it easier. However, it doesn’t seem like she’ll be able to shoot while sprinting so don’t expect to be the run-n-gunner Neon might appear to be.

We also get a quick look at one of her abilities where Neon lifts two large and long walls of electricity in a straight line, walls that she’s free to run in and out of.

Latest Bangalore Mil-Spec Skin Is Causing Apex Legends To Crash

2 years 3 months ago

Crashes and glitches are nothing new to the video game community, but that does not mean the inconvenience it can cause should be the norm. For players who enjoy Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends, the last thing you would expect to crash your game is a skin, which is what is happening with a new skin for Bangalore.

Adding new skins for characters is great, especially when it comes with its own special introductory animation. However, players have been unable to enjoy the hard work of the developers, nor even the game itself, with the addition.

Videos have surfaced online and via Reddit, showing players getting an error message while being booted from the lobby or a more serious system crash after selecting the Mil-Spec skin for Bangalore in Apex Legends. The likely cause of this problem appears to be that intro animation, with the problem occurring every time it tries to play.

You can still use the skin, but it will require you to load up the game following a crash, which is less than ideal. For now, Respawn is aware of the issue and is actively working on a fix. The Bangalore skin remains up for sale in Apex Legends, however, but a warning screen informing players of the issue does appear everytime you boot up the game.

If you are looking to enjoy the game and Bangalore is your go-to character, your best bet is to enjoy the other skins the game has to offer for now until the fix is in place.

Capcom Hasn’t Announced a Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake, So Fans are Making It Instead

2 years 3 months ago

If there’s one game in the Resident Evil series that hasn’t gotten any sort of remake treatment but desperately needs one, it’d be Code Veronica. One of the last games to make use of the infamous tank controls from the series’ early days, Resident Evil: Code Veronica continues the story of Claire Redfield as she travels to Rockfort Island to try to find her brother, Chris.

Narratively, it makes sense to remake this one. After the events of the Resident Evil 2 remake, which we could arguably see as a soft reboot of sorts, Code Veronica would continue Claire’s story to let fans see what happens next. But seeing as how Capcom has yet to announce a CV remake (with rumors suggesting that they may be working on a Resident Evil 4 remake next instead), fans are taking things into their own hands.

A fan project for a Code Veronica remake is currently underway and is broken down into three parts, with the first set to release this year. You can check out a short demo down below:

New Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Patch Incoming With Fix For Yule Festival

2 years 3 months ago

As with most games nowadays, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has seen its fair share of content updates as well as patches, growing an already substantial game into something even bigger. While it is always fun to have more to do in the game, sometimes, things can get broken for all sorts of reasons. A new patch arriving tomorrow on January 5 will be fixing issues with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla latest Yule Festival event, so players can enjoy the merry-making without problems.

It has certainly taken quite a long time, considering that the event was more or less broken since before Christmas. It probably was not a good idea either to implement something right before the developers and the studios go off on a break. Nevertheless, with 2022 in full swing, everyone is back to make sure that things run more smoothly from now on.

The arrival of the patch will also see the Yule Festival extended in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and players have until January 27 to enjoy the festivities. At least now, your progress will no longer be blocked as Eivor and crew can take a break from destroying their opposition and get some rest.

The title update 1.4.1.2 also marks the game’s first update of the year. With a big expansion coming in just a few months, we can expect to see even more activity for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Days Gone Sold 9 Million Copies, Director Says

2 years 3 months ago

In response to the news that Ghost of Tsushima sold more than 8 million copies, the director of the PlayStation exclusive Days Gone revealed a sales number for the 2019 game.

Jeff Ross, who directed Days Gone and has subsequently left the studio, said on Twitter that when he left Sony, Days Gone had sold 8 million copies on console alone. The game has subsequently sold more on PlayStation consoles, plus a further 1 million+ on Steam, Ross said.

Ross went on to claim that local studio management "always made us feel like it was a big disappointment." Ross said the press coverage--but not review scores--was a factor. "The press didn't help our case," Ross said.

Ross went on to say that Sony management had more faith in Death Stranding than Days Gone. The developer also spoke about the game's development, saying, "Development was a long slog, but we were a small team learning how to make our first open world game. All things considered, it's amazing we finished at all."

What's In The Fortnite Item Shop Today - January 6, 2022: Manic Skin Returns

2 years 3 months ago

The Fortnite Item Shop has been refreshed once more and today's inventory lacks any major new crossovers, but it's rather loaded with Epic-made heroes dating back as far as Chapter 1, Season 2. Spanning all four-plus years of the game so far, the Item Shop inventory has a bit of everything today. Here's what you'll find in the digital store for January 6, 2022.

The headlining item really comes down to personal preference. Nothing in the shop today has been absent more than a month or two, so it doesn't really have any rare items at the moment, unless you count the soon-to-be-leaving Boba Fett and Cobra Kai cosmetics.

Manic's alternate style comes without her mask. No covid on the Fortnite island, I suppose.

On the Epic side, you can find fan-favorites such as Manic, with her two styles and Scarlet Sai pickaxes, as well as Love Ranger and his Tat Axe pickaxe. Heroes from the in-universe anime, Battle Breakers, have also returned in the form of Razor and Kurohomura, two of the fake series' lead characters.

Microsoft Confirms No Plans To Remove Or Disable Dev Mode On Xbox

2 years 3 months ago

Microsoft's Jason Ronald has confirmed that Xbox has "no plans" to remove or disable developer mode on Xbox consoles following speculation this week that it was planning to do just that.

Ronald, who is Partner Director of Program Management at Xbox, confirmed this on Twitter. "We continue to believe in and support a healthy independent app and game development community on Xbox," Ronald said.

Some Partner Center accounts were "inadvertently deactivated," Ronald said, which is what caused the confusion and speculation that the developer mode feature was being removed. "We are actively working on identifying and reenabling these accounts as soon as possible," Ronald said.

Ronald said those who had their accounts accidentally deactivated can reach out to Microsoft at ReportApp@microsoft.com to speed up the account recovery. "We apologize for the inconvenience and we are working to remedy this as quickly as possible and thanks for your patience."

Call Of Duty: Warzone Patch Notes Include Fix For Invisible Operator Skin

2 years 3 months ago

Raven Software has released an update for Call of Duty: Warzone on January 5 that includes a change to the Firesale public event and a fix for the invisible operator skin that caused frustration over the holiday break.

Following the patch, Warzone's Firesale public event will now last for the entire duration of the circle it becomes active for. Previously, the random event only lasted for a brief duration during a circle, but now players will be able to get discounts at the Buy Station for its entirety.

While this is a small update that still leaves plenty of bugs and performance problems for Caldera, it also addresses the invisible operator skin that plagued many matches over the holidays. Previously, the "Awoken" operator skin for Francis was not properly visible from a distance, leaving the operator to look like nothing more than a floating head on the map. The January 5 update should allow players to see their opponents properly, even if they are dressed as the Awoken version of Francis.

The patch notes also mention collision issues have been fixed with various elements across Caldera that allowed players to exploit, peek, or shoot through them. Hopefully, Warzone can get even more improvements with the upcoming Season 1 Reloaded update.

The full patch notes can be found below, as shared by Raven Software.

Call Of Duty Developers Begin Third Week Of Striking Following Raven QA Layoffs

2021 Was Destiny 2's Best Year Because The Game Finally Got A Main Character

2 years 3 months ago

In 2021, Destiny 2 figured out what it wanted to be.

True, this wasn't a year of the biggest content releases for Bungie's MMO shooter--the Beyond Light expansion was late 2020 and The Witch Queen is due to hit the game in 2022. Destiny 2 last year mostly subsisted on seasonal content, with new activities popping up and stories told in serialized fashion across weeks. The year saw a new raid come to Destiny 2, but it was a refreshed version of Destiny 1's Vault of Glass. The biggest influx of new stuff came with the 30th Anniversary content, with its hilarious Grasp of Avarice dungeon and Dares of Eternity event, but even that amounted to a fraction of what players are used to seeing when Bungie goes all-out with a new expansion for the game.

But in 2021, Bungie discovered how to go beyond just being a series of new content drops and expansions. The developer refined the approach it had been working on since the launch of the Forsaken expansion, and for the first time, Destiny started to feel like a contiguous, connected world. The vision for Destiny 2 finally started to match the reality of Destiny 2, and the game has been more compelling, at least for me, than ever before.

It all can be traced back to a single important addition: In 2021, Destiny 2 gained a protagonist.

Call Of Duty: Vanguard And Warzone Season 1 Reloaded Start Times And Details

2 years 3 months ago

An official date hasn't been confirmed for Call of Duty's Season 1 Reloaded update for Vanguard and Warzone, but we've officially reached the middle of the season. Call of Duty's mid-season updates generally bring more content and weapon tuning across multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone, but few details have been revealed by Activision. Here's what we know so far about the big update.

Season 1 Reloaded start time

Call of Duty's Season 1 update went live on December 8 for Vanguard and Warzone, and now there are less than 28 days left in the battle pass, so we've officially reached the halfway point for the season. Updates are always subject to change, but this means a roadmap and details should be arriving soon. And if this mid-season update follows the past update times, Season 1 Reloaded could arrive around 9 PM PT January 11 and 12 AM ET on January 12.

Multiplayer

It's uncertain what content players can expect for Vanguard's multiplayer without an updated roadmap, but Sledgehammer Games has given a small update regarding some of the mode's planned changes. The list includes a tweak to the Mortar Barrage killstreak, changes to Panzerfaust weapon challenges, perk adjustments, and a weapon tuning pass. These updates weren't mentioned to be specifically coming with the Season 1 Reloaded update, so we may see these changes sooner than the big mid-season update.

Nobody Saves The World Coming January 18, Included With Xbox Game Pass

2 years 3 months ago

The action-RPG Nobody Saves the World now has a release date, and it's closer than you might have thought. The game from Guacamelee studio Drinkbox is coming on January 18 to PC and Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. If you're an Xbox Game Pass subscriber on PC or consoles, you'll have it on release day as part of your subscription.

The date was announced in a trailer, showing off tons of gameplay and some story content, along with the uniquely cartoon-creepy art style. Nobody Saves the World is a top-down Zelda-like adventure game. You play as a featureless person who can shapeshift into different forms, each with their own special abilities to navigate the world and engage in combat. Each form has its own set of challenges and upgrade tree, and you can mix and match your abilities and loadouts.

A demo for Nobody Saves the World was released as part of ID@Xbox Winter Game Fest, letting you sample some forms like a poisonous rat or a hulking knight. The new release date trailer shows off even more forms, like a stage magician and an automaton. It also features co-op, so you can have two nobodies running around shapeshifting to solve puzzles and combat scenarios.

Dead By Daylight Removing Leatherface Survivor Mask Following Reports Of Harassment

2 years 3 months ago

Behaviour Interactive announced on January 3 that it intends to remove a cosmetic skin for The Cannibal (also known as Leatherface). The removal of the mask follows reports that players have been experiencing racist harassment in-game using the mask.

A two-part development update posted on Monday outlined numerous changes coming to the game and addressed the reports. "Members of the community have shared their experiences with people targeting and harassing them while using some of these masks. These reports were disheartening to hear, and we absolutely condemn this behaviour," said Behaviour Interactive in the update.

As a result, the Leatherface survivor mask cosmetic will be removed by the release of the Mid-Chapter update. The cosmetic would allow players to wear the faces of survivor characters in Dead by Daylight, one of which belongs to Claudette Morel, who is a Black woman. Behaviour Interactive stated, "We will not tolerate hateful activity and will continue to take every step necessary to protect the community."

Far Cry 6 Pagan: Control DLC Gets January 11 Release Date

2 years 3 months ago

Pagan: Control, the second major DLC headed to Far Cry 6, now has a release date--and its much sooner than you might have expected. Starting on January 11, Far Cry 6 players will be able to take control of Pagan Min, the soft-spoken yet always-extravagant antagonist of Far Cry 4. The update follows last year's Vaas: Insanity DLC, and is part two of the game's three-part, villain-inspired season pass.

Set within the confines of Min's mind, the upcoming DLC blends "intense action and storytelling" as players explore Min's psyche and attempt to help break the self-proclaimed King of Kyrat's cycle of guilt and violence. In order to perfectly convey the trial-and-error process of growth and self-reflection, Pagan: Control pays tribute to the rougelite genre, meaning each death as Min sends the player back to the start of the DLC with only their accumulated knowledge and skills to help guide them through their second (and third, and fourth...) time around. Last but not least, Far Cry 4 fans will be thrilled to know Min's original voice actor, Troy Baker, will be returning to the Far Cry series for this performance.

Following Pagan: Control, only one infamous Far Cry villain remains to be added into Far Cry 6: Far Cry 5's Joseph Seed. While Ubisoft has not specified exactly when "The Father" will make his Far Cry 6 debut, the company has confirmed it will release sometime later this year.

Announced during CES 2022, Project Sophia is a modular system designed to function as both a workstation and a gaming rig, letting you quickly reconfigure it to fit your needs without taking up excessive space. And a separate haptics-equipped gaming chair is the icing on the cake.

Project Sophia will not include a traditional PC tower, instead fitting a custom PCB directly onto the desk--an Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU are included and housed in a magnetic chassis that can snap underneath the tabletop, and it's upgradable so you'll be able to keep the form factor for a long time. It also includes modules for adding things like touchscreens, wireless charging, and even a cup warmer.

Low-profile design for ease of use

To go (or not go) with the Project Sophia system is the newly announced Enki Pro HyperSense chair. Based on the existing Enki Pro design, the new chair uses D-BOX haptic feedback that includes native support for more than 2,200 games. Several streaming platforms are also supported, and that are 65,000 different haptic variations to give you a unique experience with everything you try.

Project Sophia will be available in either 65-inch or 77-inch versions, while the Enki Pro HyperSense includes a 22-inch seat. No release date or price has been announced for either product yet, but with the standard Razer Enki already costing $400 and the Enki Pro costing $1000, you can expect the HyperSense to be quite a bit more.

Valorant Gets A Speedster With Episode 4's New Agent, Neon

2 years 3 months ago

The latest Valorant Agent to be revealed by Riot Games is Neon. The electric Agent was shared with us in a trailer posted by Riot on January 5, displaying that the colorful character will be sliding onto our screens soon as Episode 3 ends on January 10.

More information about Neon and her abilities is yet to be revealed, with the trailer giving fans some indication of what she might be capable of. First and foremost, it's clear to see that the Manila-born Agent has the power of electricity on her side, as she sprints about with lightning following her tracks.

We can only make assumptions about Neon's abilities for now, but it looks like the character will share similarities with Jett and Phoenix in terms of agility and her control of the map. Neon appears to have some form of sprint ability accompanied by a form of stim; we presume this may allow her to slide like Jett and equip her weapon faster.
