As ever, the twist with this extra podcasts is that Nate is in charge, and these are some good 'uns.

Judging from Graham's Crysis Remastered review, however, you might be better off sticking with the original versions if you already own them.

Here’s how the developers describe Ciel.

“The Holy Church, a major religion in Europe, does not take kindly to heresy.
Ciel works as an executor for its specialized force known as the Burial Agency.

2 years 6 months ago

Sega has revealed its DLC roadmap for Lost Judgment, which includes a story DLC, a new fighting style, cosmetic items, and more.

Sega says players who preorder the Digital Deluxe and Ultimate Editions of Lost Judgment will have access to additional content at launch and beyond. Right now there's no word on pricing or availability for standard edition owners.

In Spring 2022, Lost Judgment is getting a major story expansion with The Kaito Files. In this additional content, Masaharu Kaito, Takayuki Yagami's partner, takes center stage as the playable character. Sega says this expansion adds about 10 hours of content to Lost Judgment.

On October 26, the School Stories expansion comes to Lost Judgment. In this expansion, Yagami's friends join the boxing ring minigame as extra opponents. Yagami can also take his boxing moves to the street with a new fighting style.

Before the additional story content launches, players can expect the Quick-Start Support and Detective Essentials Pack. Everyone who preorders the game gets the Quick-Start Pack, which comes with bonus health items, combat buffs, and attacks. The Detective pack is available at launch for those who preorder one of the game's special editions. It comes with cosmetic items, additional playable Sega Master System games for your detective office, a rideable hoverboard, and more dateable characters.

Looks like the rebooted GamesMaster is seeking contestants

2 years 6 months ago

It looks like GamesMaster is actively seeking contestants for the show's reboot.

An advert published by Future on GameFAQs by the user Albert Bankolé (thanks, VGC) asks for contestants for a "landmark video gaming TV series". The post was quickly taken down by a moderator, but a cached version is still available.

While it doesn't specifically say which show the casting is for, we do know Future owns the rights to the GamesMaster trademark.

Now Take-Two is going after GTA reverse engineering projects

2 years 6 months ago

In the latest of a series of legal battles by Take-Two Interactive, the developers of the re3 project are being sued by the company in the state of California.

What's so significant about this particular project is that it's built on completely reverse engineered source code of Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. It's also been ported over to the Nintendo Switch, Playstation Vita and Nintendo Wii U.

Under US law, reverse engineering is generally legal. To further minimise encroachment of the law, the developers avoided using any leaked source code, and any copyrighted assets such as music, dialogue and images. Rather, players need to own the original game in order to get those assets.

The 10 steamiest trains in PC games

2 years 6 months ago

Tickets please, folks. No ticket? That's okay, you can buy one for £3000. Yes, that is a single. A return is £12 million. Listen, that's just how much trains cost in England now. No? Suit yourself, if you really think you can enjoy all the gilded luxury of the London to Brighton service through the magic of video games, be my guest, but I don't believe you can. Games will never replicate the thrill of dipping into your pension to stand in a virulent, low-energy mosh pit for two hours. Not even these 10 best trains in PC games can simulate that. All aboard!

One of my favourite JRPG series of the last decade is finally on PC and I'm over the moon

2 years 6 months ago

Rejoice, JRPG fans. Bravely Default 2 has finally arrived on PC, and cor, you're in for a treat. Previously confined to Nintendo-only consoles, first on the 3DS and later the Switch, the Bravely series is simultaneously a love letter to the classics and - in my eyes, at least - one of the genre's best modern advocates. We've seen plenty of games try to reinterpret Final Fantasy's four heroes of light and elemental crystal schtick over the years, but Bravely Default is the one that really gets it, scratching that retro itch while also bringing something new to the table in the form of its fantastic risk and reward battle system, compelling job classes and absolute chefkiss.gif soundtrack (which also plays a surprisingly big role in combat, too). It's legit one of my favourite JRPG series to date, and I'm so pleased it's finally made its way to PC.

Mecha Knights: Nightmare Review – A Solo Love Song to Mecha Games

2 years 6 months ago

A few days ago, solo developer Damian Kubiak released the result of five years of work, Mecha Knights: Nightmare.

The game is set in the near future, with humanity under seemingly unstoppable attack by monsters simply called “Reds.” No one knows what they actually are, but they appear to be determined to annihilate all of mankind, spreading quickly from south-eastern Russia into the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.

The player takes on the role of a mecha pilot sent to fight against the monstrous tidal wave in what appears to be a hopeless struggle for survival.

The story certainly does not hide its sources of inspiration which include the beloved Muv-Luv visual novel series. As a matter of fact, the similarities are so extensive that Muv-Luv fans will feel right at home playing Mecha Knights: Nightmare.

Take-Two Is Suing Reverse-Engineered GTA 3 and Vice City Fan Project Creators

2 years 6 months ago

Take-Two Interactive is suing the creators of reverse-engineered Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto Vice City fan projects.

This news comes by way of VideoGamesChronicle, which reports that the lawsuit was filed in California and names 14 programmers who were working on the project. IGN reported back in February that this project had received a DMCA takedown from Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games.

The lawsuit claims that the people on the project "are well aware that they do not possess the right to copy, adapt, or distribute derivative GTA source code, or the audiovisual elements of the games, and that doing so constitutes copyright infringement," according to VGC.

It's important to note that the team isn't actually using GTA 3 or Vice City source code — they instead recreated it using newer coding languages. This project doesn't contain any Rockstar assets, either, so players that wish to use this reverse-engineered source code will actually need to have their own copy of GTA 3 or Vice City to create a port of the games using this code.

However, as Take-Two's lawsuit notes, the company is suing the creators behind the project for distributing "derivative GTA source code."

Report: Game Boy, Game Boy Color Games Are Coming to Nintendo Switch Online

2 years 6 months ago

A new report claims that Nintendo is going to add Game Boy and Game Boy Color games to its Nintendo Switch Online service.

This news comes by way of Eurogamer, which corroborates a report from Nintendo Life that games from these two Nintendo handhelds might finally come to the company's online Netflix-like service.

Nintendo Life reported earlier this week that Nate the Hate podcast host, NateDrake, had revealed that Nintendo might be adding Game Boy and Game Boy Color games to its online catalogue. The publication confirmed this with its own sources, adding that these games could be coming "really soon."

Now, Eurogamer writes that its own independent sources say the same. The publication also revealed that its sources say games from other retro platforms are on the table as well.

As noted by Eurogamer, a 2019 datamine by OatmealDome of the NES Switch app revealed that SNES titles would be coming to the service before Nintendo made the official announcement. Nine months after that datamine, SNES games were added to the service.

Workshop Simulator Looks Like One Of The Most Wholesome Games To Date

2 years 6 months ago

Click here to watch embedded media

One of my favorite games from the last few years is Farm Together, a relaxing cooperative crop-raising experience with no fail states or reasons to panic. Intermarum's upcoming Workshop Simulator looks to deliver a similar gameplay vibe, only instead of tending to fields; you're restoring vintage items. The developer describes this gameplay as an "idyllic, comfy, and relaxing experience."

Slated to release exclusively on PC on October 26, Workshop Simulator gives you the tools to clean up, disassemble, rebuild, and paint items that hold meaning to your family. You'll be working with your grandfather, who will tell you stories about your family with each new item that is pulled out of the attic.

The amount of time and care you put into each item is entirely up to you. You can make them look new again, completely change their color, or just hide the most serious damage to make them presentable.

Who Is The Hunter In Marvel's Midnight Suns?

2 years 6 months ago

Marvel's Midnight Suns

Marvel's Midnight Suns brings together disparate members of the Marvel Universe into a supernatural adventure. This quest to save the world features Iron Man, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Wolverine, Blade, Doctor Strange, and Ghost Rider, plus a few lesser-known heroes like Magik and Nico Minoru. However, players see this icon-riddled adventure through the eyes of The Hunter, an all-new hero designed by Firaxis in collaboration with Marvel.

Working with Marvel to create a brand new hero was a dream come true for the Firaxis Games team, but they needed to make sure The Hunter could stand up next to the other iconic characters in the Marvel Universe. "There's a specific way that Marvel heroes become heroes, and there's a specific way that Marvel villains become villains," creative director Jake Solomon says. "You can't just wave a wand and say, 'Oh cool. The Hunter exists now.' We had to think about what is the backstory, why do they have meaning in this setting, why would all these characters with all these powers [recruit] them to potentially lead them in this fight? If we make them central, it has to be authentic to this story and why the other heroes would look to The Hunter as an equal."

Hideo Kojima Reveals Pitched 'Mads Max' Game That Mads Mikkelsen Thought Was A Joke

2 years 6 months ago

Hideo Kojima definitely marches to the beat of his own drum, and that's why so many in the gaming community love him. While he's been hard at work on Death Stranding: Director's Cut and pouring his heart out about his love for him, the game creator took to social media once more to share a pitched game starring his bestie Mads Mikkelsen that was so far-fetched, the actor thought it was a joke.

Kojima took to Twitter to share a tale of what it almost was. Or, what he wanted to be "almost was"? Anyway, he mentioned that he has had "a number" of ideas centering on Mikkelsen, including one for a game tentatively called Mads Max. Get it? Because his first name is Mads?
