In upcoming cybercrimes RPG Gamedec you're a video game detective. As in, a detective in the game but also a detective about games. As you'd expect from a sleuth 'em up, Gamedec's story can twist and change based on your detective's choices, background, and more. Or, as we say in this here world of video games, it has a branching narrative. How many branches? According to Gamedec's new trailer, it has all of the branches. You're bound to hit a few of them on the way down when it launches in September.
America’s birthday is nearly upon us, and you know what that means: It’s time to loudly blow stuff up so that we can drown out the self-conscious voices in our heads that remind us how weird and bad America can be. In honor of All Of That, this week’s Splitscreen is about how games from other countries get changed to…
No Man’s Sky was a mess of broken promises and shattered dreams when it launched. Now it’s a playground for the imagination, with players forging cities, in-game companies, and all manner of epic bases. But none of that compares to this giant banana.
On June 30, Nintendo quietly pulled the plug on the Wii U and 3DS Netflix apps. Not only does this mean anybody still using these older consoles to watch Netflix are now screwed, but it also officially means that in the year 2021 there is no way to watch Netflix on a Nintendo device. This would be surprising if it was…

Tensions are running high in the latest episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, as our favorite group of misfit clones have to balance making money with keeping a low profile. With a number of close calls that nearly had Omega returning to the hands of the Empire, it’s clear that Hunter and co. are feeling antsy about…
Of course! Why did no one think of this before? Or perhaps they did and I've never heard about it: it wouldn't be the first time. I'm talking about turning books, things known for being still, into games, and in the process adding to them. Giving them new life, new energy. I'm not talking about word-books and adaptations of stories into games, because we see those all the time. I'm talking about picture-books that were already, confusingly, a kind of game.
The one I'm reminded most strongly of is Where's Wally? That book series about finding a curly-haired, bespectacled explorer in a city of charming chaos. And you know I've been told I rather resemble him - I always knew he was a handsome cad! Do you remember it? Massive books with massive, double-page picture spreads, filled with the smallest, most intricate details. People everywhere, up to all sorts, every shenanigan you can think of. They might be in Ancient Egypt, a pirate town, a medieval battle: wherever the book's creators could dream up a visually powerful theme. And you'd look at these pictures for hours, probably with friends, until you'd found every Wally (or Waldo if you're American), every Wizard, every dog's tail, and whatever else the book-game wanted you to find.
What if you turned that into a video game? What if you animated it and brought those evocative, frozen-in-time snapshots of chaos to life? Well, that's what Labyrinth City: Pierre the Maze Detective does, and it's an absolute delight.
This week has been one of great import, with upheaval and emotion. That's right: Love Island is back on ITV. You don't have to watch it to enjoy the sentence "I'm Chuggs, I'm 23, and I run a bucket hat business in Surrey".
Oh, also we have a new editor-in-chief now (though I feel the fact that there is a human being called Chuggs is a similar tier in terms of big news). Anyway, all hail Katharine. Please, nobody speak to Graham ever again.
Frog Detective 3: Corruption at Cowboy County comes out this year.

Dark Alliance got its first big update today - and its patch notes are frustratingly vague.
The Dungeons & Dragons action role-playing game launched on 22nd June and was met with a mixed reception, so there are a lot of eyeballs on this first patch to see if it remedies some of the game's more immediate issues.
Unfortunately, developer Tuque Games' patch notes for Dark Alliance v1.16 are so vague, players are struggling to work out what the update actually does.
Mortal Kombat 11 DLC has come to an end, NetherRealm has confirmed.
The studio will now focus on its next project, it said in a tweet.
The confirmation comes as no surprise to Mortal Kombat fans - the fighting game last saw new DLC characters in November last year, when Kombat Pack 2 added John Rambo, Mileena and Rain to the fighting game.
Faze Clan has kicked out one of its members and suspended three others over an alleged influencer crypto "scam".
In a statement published to Twitter, Faze said it had "removed" Frazier Kay from its clan, and suspended Jarvis Khattri, Nikan Nadim and Teeqo until further notice.
These influencers, each with millions of YouTube subscribers and social media followers, were heavily criticised for promoting a cryptocurrency token called Save the Kids whose value plummeted soon after it launched.

A Guilty Gear Strive patch stealth removed reference to Uyghur, Tibet and Taiwan in a China-related lore entry.

Neither Guilty Gear Strive publisher Bandai Namco or developer Arc System Works have commented, despite repeated requests from Eurogamer after the change emerged.

I recently went from playing zero golfing games to two. The first, Mario Golf: Super Rush, arrived on Switch last week, whereas the second, Battle Golfer Yui, released for the Mega Drive (that’s the Sega Genesis for my fellow Americans) in 1991 and never left Japan. And while they share a host of similarities, the…

Indie developer Sabotage Studio just released one more teaser trailer of its upcoming turn-based RPG Sea of Stars.
The trailer is fairly brief as usual, but it’s also one of the most spectacular we’ve seen so far (at least in my opinion) showing the day and night cycle and even how it interacts with gameplay.
It certainly showcases that the art level involved in this game is absolutely top-notch
Sea of Stars, which is a prequel set in the universe of the developer’s The Messenger, has been funded with a very successful Kickstarter campaign and will feature music by Yasunori Mitsuda.
You can enjoy the video below.

Thanks to this new set of assets, we learn more about the star child Halley (shown with his Stella Gear mecha in the image) and we get an introduction of his voice actor, Ryo Kikuchi.
From the tweets, we learn that Halley is a star child and an excellent pilot and intelligence officer belonging to GT Labo’s information division. He’s also skilled at fortune-telling, but at times he raises a flag. We’ll know what that means when we play.
Speaking of Kikuchi-san, he appears to be a relative rookie, but he also appears in the upcoming Memories Off spiritual successor SINce Memories as protagonist Junya Mitsumoto.
You can check everything out below.
The Frog Detective games are short, joy-filled mysteries about a frog with a vacant smile. They're lovely - and now there's going to be a third one. Frog Detective 3: Corruption At Cowboy County is coming later this year, and there's a first trailer below.
Nightdive Studios has published seven minutes of gameplay of its System Shock remake.
The System Shock video, below, includes plenty of skulking about in the Research level of Citadel Station.
I think it looks pretty impressive - the visuals are appropriately atmospheric, with plenty of sparky visual effects. There's a sense of foreboding, which System Shock should have. We see enemies who lurch towards the player once they're disturbed. The video ends with a quite terrifying fight against a large robot who takes an age to go down.

As a result, we're delaying the release of Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons from late 2021 to early 2022.
