SteelSeries' best gaming headset for PS5 is now on offer

2 years 9 months ago

The SteelSeries Arctis 7P - the best wireless headset for PS5 and PS4 according to Digital Foundry - has now been reduced by a little over £25.

The Arctis 7P has dropped from its regular price of £159.99 to £133.32 at Amazon UK. It's another slightly peculiar discount that follows the price cut on the Xbox Series X/S Storage Expansion Card just yesterday.

Even though it's still a hefty price tag there are a lot of worthwhile benefits to the Arctis 7P that make it one of the best gaming headsets. Digital Foundry gave it top marks for its comfortable design, impressive durability, excellent sound quality and healthy 24-hour battery life.

Spring 2021 Gave Us Some Amazing Debut Anime

2 years 9 months ago

It is pretty hard to imagine that anything could come close to the winter 2021 season in terms of quality anime, especially when it comes to debuts. That season alone gave us the premiere of shows like Hormiya, Sk8 the Infinity, and Wonder Egg Priority just to name a few. Yet, somehow, spring 2021 managed to pump out just as many amazing debut anime.

Odd Taxi

Just about every single one of the spring 2021 anime that debuted had their own unique and interesting draw to them. If we’re talking about ones that stand out, though, Odd Taxi is the clear winner.

Set in a world full of anthropomorphic animals, Odd Taxi follows a 41-year old walrus taxi driver named Odokawa. As the show starts out, everything seems pretty straightforward, with the plot following the interactions between him and the other animals that use his services.

Doom Eternal’s multiplayer Invasion mode is dead

2 years 9 months ago

Doom Eternal’s post-launch Invasion mode, which would have enabled other players to jump into your single-player campaign as demons, is deader than a Cacodemon’s dating profile. Id announced today that the Covid-19 pandemic’s impact was a major factor in dropping development. Instead of letting other players cosplay as enemies in your game, they’ll turn their attention to a single-player horde mode instead.

PSP Store Closes Next Week, But Sony Will Still Sell PSP Games Through PS3 And PS Vita

2 years 9 months ago

Earlier this year, Sony confirmed that it was closing a few of its older processes down, including the PSP Store. At the time, there was no plan in place to allow for games specifically designed to be played on the PSP to be preserved, which sparked an industry-wide (and community-wide) conversation about the preservation cycles in gaming. It looks like now, at least, the question of what will happen to those PSP-specific titles has been answered because Sony has confirmed that PlayStation players will still be able to purchase and play PSP content on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.

Sony has updated its Important Notice portion of the PlayStation site to discuss what has been discontinued and removed. With the PlayStation Store no longer accessible starting on July 6, players from that point on will not be able to perform searches or make any sort of purchase through their PSP systems.

Doom Eternal ditching planned PvP Invasions Mode for new solo horde mode

2 years 9 months ago

Doom Eternal will no longer receive its previously announced PvP-focussed Invasions mode, with id Software having made the decision to pivot development toward a new single-player horde mode instead, due to coronavirus-related development challenges.

Invasions Mode, announced back at QuakeCon 2018, was intended to deliver a vaguely Dark-Souls-esque multiplayer spin on Doom Eternal's single-player campaign, enabling other humans to manifest as demons throughout the story and do battle with the host player for some added challenge.

Well over 12 months after Doom Eternal's March 2020 launch, however, Invasions Mode is still yet to materialise, leaving fans to ponder its fate. And now, in a newly released statement, id Software executive producer Marty Stratton has provided an answer, confirming Invasions Mode is officially dead due to the impact "the unforeseen consequences of the pandemic and remote working" have had on development.

Capcom details Monster Hunter Stories 2's post-launch content roadmap

2 years 9 months ago

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, the second game in Capcom's RPG spin-off series, comes to Switch and PC next Friday, 9th July, and, much like its mainline sibling, will enjoy a healthy dose of post-launch support. And now, with its arrival in sight, Capcom has shared a roadmap outlining those post-release content plans.

One week after Monster Hunter Stories 2's launch, Capcom will deploy its first (and previously detailed) post-launch update, introducing introducing Monster Hunter Rise's dog-like Palamute companion as a rideable Monstie.

That'll be followed by a second update on 5th August introducing Hellblade Glavenus and Boltreaver Astalos as new Monsties, alongside a new co-op quest - featuring the gilded Elder Dragon Kulve Taroth - that Monster Riders can tackle together. Capcom notes that while the Elder Dragon won't be rideable, materials gained from the quest can be used to craft "powerful" new equipment.

Breath of the Wild Player Becomes First to Open Impossible Chest

2 years 9 months ago

It is no secret that Breath of the Wild is an insanely detailed game. To this day, players are still find new mechanics and ways to play the game. As such, it isn’t entirely surprising that there has been a chest in the game that still hasn’t been opened…until now.

Know for a while thanks to the chest location radar, this impossible chest was located at Aris Beach. The catch, though, is that it seems to be located far underground, and will only spawn if you get within 60 meters of it. Many tried to find a way to this chest but failed to get there, even after successfully clipping through the map.

In the video below, you can see that a Youtuber by the name of Kleric was finally able to accomplish this monumental task.

In order to accomplish this amazing feat, the Youtuber had to do a lot of crazy stuff, including swimming for five straight minutes, placing Cryonis block perfectly, managing stamina, using memory tricks to reset cooldowns, and so much more. For all of their hard work, all Kleric received was a piece of amber.

Crowfall Interview: Creative Director Discusses The Throne War MMORPG Just Before Release

2 years 9 months ago

The upcoming PvP-centric MMORPG Crowfall is finally approaching its release next week, and the gauntlet has been thrown.

The game has been a long time in the making, after it was funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2015, with fans pledging $1,766,204 to the cause.

To know more about what fans and new players can expect from its release and the future, Twinfinite interviewed creative director and ArtCraft co-founder J. Todd Coleman.

Giuseppe: We’re very close to the game’s release. How is the atmosphere at the studio?

J. Todd Coleman: Well, “at the studio” is still a bit of a misnomer, since we’re all still working remotely — but overall people seem to be holding up pretty well. This is my 4th MMO launch (Shadowbane, Wizard101, Pirate101 and now Crowfall) and the feeling is similar, but a little different, every time. Shadowbane was so early that it felt like a terrifying roller coaster drop into the unknown; hard to know what to expect so few people had ever been through an MMO launch before.

Wizard101 and Pirate101 were both eerily calm, probably because they were pointed at such a different target audience. Crowfall is a strange mix of both feelings — there is the excitement (and stress) that comes with launch, but it has this kind of “otherworldly” feel to it since the team is entirely remote. It sort of feels like you are watching from a distance… which is literally true, I suppose, but the level of focus and effort is still there.

I should say that I am exceptionally proud of this team for what they have accomplished. Launching an MMO is a monumental challenge even in the best of situations. Doing it in the midst of a pandemic, with the entire team working from home, adds a layer of complication that I never expected.

Nexus Mods no longer allows mod authors to permanently delete files

2 years 9 months ago

Mega game mod hosting site Nexus Mods have revealed more information about their upcoming Collections feature which they hope will make installing mods a more approachable experience for users. In anticipation of launching the Collections system, Nexus say that mods can no longer be completely deleted from the site. Instead, mod authors will be able to archive files, though they'll still be downloadable via Collections that include them. It's a big change, and Nexus have written a rather long post (longer than this one) explaining the "how"s, "why"s, and "what now"s of the new system.

New Dragon Age 4 Concept Art Puts The Antivan Crows Front And Center

2 years 9 months ago

In light of the news that there will be nothing shown of Dragon Age 4 or the new Mass Effect at this year's EA Play, executive producer Christian Dailey decided to share a little treat to help tide fans over. While not a trailer, the Dragon Age 4 concept art does put the Crows back in the spotlight.

The Crows hail from the beautiful mother country of Antiva (I hope you read that in Zevran's voice, if not - I am disappointed and I just wanted you to know that). We first learned about them in Dragon Age Origins with our lovable assassin-turned-companion Zevran Arainai. Zevran was a Crow before he failed to take out his mark: the Warden, us. He eventually can become a close friend, even a lover, and a staple that reemerged in Dragon Age II with a small side quest, and then again in Inquisition as a War Table mission. Previous concept art shown has many, including myself, convinced that he'll be back once more, and not as text, in Dragon Age 4, but before we go into that, take a look at the latest concept art shared below:

Some Destiny 2 Season 15 Weapon Changes Are Arriving Early, Bungie Is Nerfing Anarchy

2 years 9 months ago

Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer is coming to a close and with Osiris acting more than a little suspish and Lakshmi being her annoying self, where season 15 will take us is anyone's guess. While we await to uncover who Savathun is impersonating within the City, weapon feature lead Chris Proctor did provide some insight into what sort of changes are on the horizon for game mechanics, weapon shifts, and a potential Exotic overhaul, including which season 15 changes are arriving early.

Let's just rip the bandaid off, shall we? Now I know, you're going to make fun of me, but I only recently just scooped up Anarchy at the end of Season of the Chosen. I have the worst drop rate in history. 100 Deep Stone Crypt clears, still no Eyes of Tomorrow. A ton of Vault clears, still no Mytho. So it was no surprise that I ended up having to just cash in Raid tokens to buy Anarchy - one of the most OP weapons in Destiny 2 - shortly before the studio decided to nerf it. I understand, I'm just sad.
