2 years 9 months ago

Suing a video game rom site and being awarded $2.1 million in damages doesn’t mean much if the defendant can’t pay. Apparently, Nintendo’s having trouble collecting from RomUniverse founder Matthew Storman, who’s already missed a $50 monthly sanctions payment to the video game publisher.

New Spider-Man Miles: Morales Patch Improves Performance Mode Ray-Tracing on PS5

2 years 9 months ago

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is already one of the best-looking games on PS5, but it’s about to perform even better thanks to the launch of a new patch today. Developer Insomniac Games has detailed a brief list of changes over on its official website, which not includes general stability fixes but “improvements to ray-traced reflection quality in the performance RT graphics mode.”

Here’s an overview of the changes:

General Fixes & Polish

  • Global stability fixes and performance improvements
  • Improvements to ray-traced reflection quality in the Performance RT graphics mode
  • Fix for an issue with motion blur on certain pedestrians

Like many modern AAA games, Spider-Man: Miles Morales offers two different graphical modes, with one focusing on fidelity and resolution and the other on a higher framerate and smooth performance. Today’s update improves the ray-tracing on the latter, which was actually added after the game’s launch. Moving forward, though, there won’t be as severe a loss in fidelity –specifically, ray-tracing performance– when opting for framerate as there was previously.

So, you can look forward to all those puddles looking extra glossy while still sloshing about a 60 fps!

Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been a huge critical and commercial success for PlayStation having sold 4.1 million copies in its first six months.

Valheim's aggressive monsters have been told to calm down

2 years 9 months ago

Good news for anyone particularly attached to their Valheim buildings, as developer Iron Gate has tweaked the AI to make monsters slightly less keen on smashing up structures.

Iron Gate recently made a change to enemy AI that made monsters much more aggressive towards buildings, and players started to complain the monsters had become a bit too rowdy. Enemies were seen running past players to destroy their buildings instead, while some monsters became so confused about what they should be attacking that they essentially froze in place. I checked the patch out for myself and discovered local greydwarfs had stripped our village walls of decorations, while a run-in with a troll ended in disaster when it became a bit too interested in my friend's treehouse:

In any case, it seems Iron Gate noticed the AI change was causing a fair bit of chaos, and the AI has been tweaked once again to solve the problems.

Fully Customizable Diablo 4 Character Creation Marks A First For The Franchise

2 years 9 months ago

"You can't fight crime if you ain't cute" is a gem from the show Reno 911 that I live my life by, don't judge, and in Diablo 4, I can keep that montage going strong in the gaming-verse. For the first time in the franchise's history, players will be able to completely customize their toon the way they want, making the world of Diablo more immersive than ever before. Recreate yourself, make an atrocity - dealer's choice!

John Mueller, the art director for the game, took to the Blizzard blog to go into more detail about the character art in the upcoming game. Beyond just the characters, he also confirmed that they took tailoring the experience to the next level by adding in character customization options beyond the transmog for gear seen previously. In the post, Mueller opened up about why they've taken a slightly different approach this time around with the art style of the game, including how characters look and interact with one another.

Now the team is adding to that Space Jam love by teaming up with Nike for a new shoe to celebrate the upcoming film. To sweeten the pot a little bit, another new Space Jam controller has been revealed that pairs with the new sneaker via the Nike SNKRS app.

Warner Bros. Nike, and Xbox have just unveiled the Space Jam: A New Legacy sneaker bundle that comes with a Road Runner vs. Wile E. Coyote Nike LeBron 18 Low and an exclusive pairing Xbox Wireless Controller. The Nate Files podcast episode 1: the history of glass aquariums

2 years 9 months ago

Because you're a lovely little sausage and have chosen to support us, we're doing a monthly podcast just for you. It's an Electronic Wireless Show extra, featuring the usual cast of myself, Matthew "Dad Pod" Castle and Nate "The Shatterpillar" Crowley (I do not have a nickname do not even try). But the twist is: we put Nate in charge.

Codenamed The Nate Files, each of these podstras features Nate giving a tangent free reign. This month: the history of glass aquariums. It is both educational and ridiculous. Matthew is pleased at the glass-banging possibilities presented by history.

WitcherCon schedule includes pun-tastic pub quiz, Henry Cavill

2 years 9 months ago

When WitcherCon was first announced last month, I very much thought it would be some silly thing to capitalise on the success of Netflix's The Witcher series (and, I mean, it still kinda is). But now the full schedule has been revealed, it actually sounds like a pretty good time. On the 9th and 10th of July, the virtual Witcher-themed event will hold panels with the likes of Henry Cavill, chatting about deep lore, trivia, quizzes and updates on the upcoming Witcher TV shows.

Asus ROG Claymore II review

2 years 9 months ago

The original Asus ROG Claymore was my gateway to the world of mechanical keyboards, converting my love of soft, squishy membranes into a new currency of cold, hard clackedy clacks. I still look back on it with great affection, even though its high price prevented it from joining our list of best gaming keyboards at the time. Now, Asus are back with the ROG Claymore II, a new and refreshed wireless take on their classic compact keyboard.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut is official, out in August on PS4 and PS5

2 years 9 months ago

Having spent some time percolating in the rumour pool (and occasionally leaking onto various ratings boards around the world), developer Sucker Punch's "director's cut" of its acclaimed open-world stealth-action game Ghost of Tsushima is now official, and coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on 20th August.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut, as the new edition is formally known, features all the content from the original release, alongside a new chapter in protagonist Jin's story, which will see him travel to Tsushima's neighbouring island of Iki.

"In this new story," Sucker Punch explains on the PlayStation Blog, "Jin travels to the island to investigate rumours of a Mongol presence. But soon, he finds himself caught up in events with deeply personal stakes that will force him to relive some traumatic moments from his past."

Team Fortress 2 players beat team of bots using a conga line

2 years 9 months ago

It's no secret that Team Fortress 2 has a bit of a bot problem, but the game also has a community that really enjoys mid-match shenanigans - and the two combined today in one of the funniest posts about TF2 bots I've seen so far.

Reddit user 2Noel posted footage of an Attack/Defend match in which Blu team was pitted against a bunch of bots - normally not great news for those wanting to keep their heads on their shoulders. Yet the team decided to try a different tactic to just charging into battle, instead choosing to conga their way out of spawn and onto the control points. And surprisingly, it worked. Stay tuned for the satisfying bot slaughter at the end of the match:

The question you're probably asking right now is: why didn't the bots shoot the Blu team members? The answer, it seems, is that the bots are programmed to avoid shooting players who are using taunts and emotes. If you look closely at the video, you'll notice that players not engaged in the conga line (such as poor old atomdotdat) are instantly sniped by the bots, while the dancers remain unharmed.

Fortnite fans complain Loki is too horny

2 years 9 months ago

Norse god and Disney+ star Loki is now available in Fortnite, resplendent in his original Avengers movie outfit. Sign up to the game's £10 Fortnite Crew subscription in June and you'll get Loki for yourself, horns and all.

But it is those horns which are causing a problem for some fans, who have said the mischievous god's headpiece simply blocks too much of their view.

I've played a few games now as Loki and haven't seen as much of an issue as the images being shared on reddit, such as the one below. I think this is probably angled to make the problem look as bad as possible, although yes, Loki's enormous helmet is certainly quite distracting.
