First up, I’m going to incept the Halo theme song into your brain: Oohwawawawahwahwawha…
There, that should do it. Now we have the scene properly set, I’m excited to tell you that the Halo: The Master Chief Collection isn’t going to settle on just bringing the Halo series back to the PC. There are plans afoot that will let Xbox One and PC gamers fight together in multiplayer. Everything is connected, people.
Popular free-to-play naval warfare MMO World of Warships has Transformers in it now. Not robots that transform into warships, mind you, but rather warships piloted by Autobots Optimus Prime and Bumblebee and the Decepticons Megatron and Rumble. Weird.
It’s ostensibly summer, but there are no road trips or family vacations on the horizon (and if you are bundling your family members into your car, Clark Griswold-style, godspeed/please reconsider.) Instead, as the temperatures continue to rise, we’ll once again be parked in front of our screens, living vicariously…
In a post on the PlayStation Blog this morning, Sony detailed which PlayStation 4 controllers and accessories will work with the PlayStation 5. Specialty controllers like steering wheels, Sony wireless headsets, and PlayStation Move controllers will work just fine. The PS4's DualShock 4, however, will only work with…

In a cross between a tech breakdown and an autopsy video, someone has filmed the new Super Mario Lego unit being taken to pieces.
What inspired this kind of digital dissection, I am not sure. And while Beyond the Brick's Boone Langston claims the unit in his teardown is faulty, there's something unnerving about seeing its eyes spring to life when batteries are put in.
The Lego Super Mario unit is, unsurprisingly, well built, as most Lego is, which means there comes a point in the video where Langston needs to start snapping bits off to get inside. As a fan of Lego and Mario, it's upsetting, frankly.
PlayStation's next Nintendo Direct-style State of Play broadcast takes place this Thursday, 6th June at 9pm UK time.
As detailed by PlayStation on Twitter, you should expect "no big PS5 announcements" during the stream.
What will you get? Well, the focus for now will be on PS4 and PSVR titles, along with a few third-party and indie PS5 games which have previously been announced.
PlayStation has detailed which PS4 peripherals you'll be able to use with PS5 - and there's bad news for the DualShock 4.
While you will be able to use the PS4's pad to play some PS4 games on PS5, you won't be able to use it as a PS5 game controller.
Every PS5 will come with its new DualSense controller, of course, but this rules out using your DualShock as a second PS5 game pad.
If you haven't yet set foot on the streets of Kamurocho, then now's the time as you can save a lot on the Yakuza games on PC.
I for one am gutted that I had to cancel my trip to Japan this year, while the Tokyo Olympics also got postponed. But if you ever wanted a virtual tour through one of the most special (and seedy) parts of Tokyo, then the Yakuza games are a great place to start. Over on Fanatical, you can pick up the Yakuza bundle, which includes Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2, for just £20.99.
If you're not sure about going for them all at once, you can also buy them separately, and Yakuza 0 is an absolute steal for just £3.44. It's also arguably the best of the bunch - after all, there's a disco-dancing mini game and you can recruit a chicken to help you build your real estate empire.
In rather unexpected news, Modern Warfare’s Season 5 update is now live on PlayStation 4, allowing you to download it before the new season begins on Aug. 5.
The update comes in at 36.182 GB for the Warzone only version of Modern Warfare, which is larger than those for the last few seasons and might explain why it can be pre-loaded for the first time.
However, while you’re able to download the update, you cannot install it yet. A message will appear underneath the file on your system’s downloads section saying: “Installable: 5/8/2020 2:00”
That time above is for ET, so it will say “4/8/2020 23:00” if you’re on PT or “5/8/2020 7:00” if you’re on BST.
Detective Pikachu director Robert Letterman is returning to the hybrid animated/live-action film scene to helm an upcoming Netflix adaptation of the cult 2003 sci-fi Ubisoft game, Beyond Good and Evil.
While there are no writers currently committed to the project, Netflix is searching for some to undertake the unique project. The plot itself remains unclear for now.
Letterman used a similar approach with Detective Pikachu, blending reality with animation, which resulted in great success– the 2019 movie earned over $433 million worldwide and was critically acclaimed.
Beyond Good and Evil will be produced by Jason Altman and Margaret Boykin of Ubisoft Film & Television. The news of the upcoming film adaptation was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter a mere day after reports of the animated Splinter Cell series coming to Netflix.
Beyond Good and Evil itself was a critical hit garnering praise for its animation, story, and game design, having been nominated for the Game of the Year award at the 2004 Game Developers Choice Awards.
However, it unfortunately flopped financially. The financial failure of the game didn’t stop its massive following, leading to its 2011 remaster that was well-received. The publisher is now working on a prequel not expected to release until April 2021, at least.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that a new State of Play livestream presentation will occur this Thursday on Aug 6 at 1 PM PT/4 PM ET. This latest episode will for about 40 minutes and will mostly focus on third-party published content coming to PS4 and PS VR.
There will be some news about several upcoming PS5 titles, but the announcements will be for indie titles and third-party content.
Sid Shuman, Senior Director at SIE Content Communications, promises that there will not be any news on titles coming from Sony’s first-party studios, such as Insomniac (Spider-Man) and Santa Monica (God of War). There will also be no updates on the PS5 console itself or details on hot topics such as pricing and pre-order dates.
You’ll be able to tune into the State of Play episode on Twitch and YouTube live on Aug 6.
Coincidentally, Nintendo also released a Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase a couple of weeks back, which was also a presentation geared towards third-party titles coming to the Switch. During it, there was a new trailer for Shin Megami Tensei V, a reveal for Cadence of Hyrule DLC, and some other small surprises.

Just a few months ago, The Pokemon Company made a big deal about a special stream that would showcase an upcoming project, that a lot of people thought would involve the next generation of Pokemon or a remake of a beloved entry. Instead, it was the announcement of a Pokemon MOBA in collaboration with Tencent.
Yes, Pokemon Unite was one of the first big disappointments of the summer, a streak Nintendo would continue by hyping up a Bakugan Switch game from WayForward. But it is coming, and thanks to new images and info from Chinese social media (gathered by ResetEra), we may have our first real info dump since the May reveal.
In addition to several new screenshots (that showcase additional characters like Drednaw), evidently reports point to an internal test in August, with a lengthy development cycle that will continue throughout spring 2021: when the game will eventually be released. Details like a (no doubt heavily monetized) cosmetic system for your trainer have also leaked.
As a reminder, Pokemon Unite will arrive on Android, iOS and Switch at some point in the future.

In case you missed it, the recent Xbox Games Showcase set the internet ablaze with questions about Halo Infinite. Microsoft finally showed it off, but all anyone could talk about was the visual style and Craig the Brute: the newly minted meme of the week.
Taking to Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries created a blog on the subject, gathering up all of the big-picture concerns about Infinite and putting them into one place. The most notable subsection is easily the visuals portion though, which 343 addresses plainly. The move, they say, is deliberate, as the company "decided to shift back towards the legacy aesthetics that defined the original trilogy."
Calling it a "classic" art style, they propose that the final game will have a more "vibrant palette," that will still be detailed. In regards to the actual quality of that style, 343 says "we do have work to do to address some of these areas and raise the level of fidelity and overall presentation for the final game." 343 also states that the build we saw was already outdated.
Individual snafus and memes aside, it's something I actually dug about the reveal: that Halo was going back to a more stylized look and not the ultra-realistic visuals of recent games. The environments seem expansive, and will probably be a lot of fun to explore.
We know Xbox One's controllers and peripherals will be compatible with Xbox Series X, but what about PlayStation 4 accessories on PlayStation 5? Sony's answers are all over the map, but they make sense.
The standard DualShock 4 controller that many of us use for PlayStation 4 gaming will work with PlayStation 5, but only for supported PlayStation 4 games. The DualShock 4 cannot be used for PlayStation 5 games. In a post on PlayStation Blog, Sony's Isabelle Tomatis, who works on PlayStation VR, Peripherals Marketing and Licensing, clarifies this stance, saying "We believe that PS5 games should take advantage of the new capabilities and features we’re bringing to the platform, including the features of DualSense wireless controller." This rule also applies to third-party controllers.
Most other accessories are fully compatible with PlayStation 5. This includes the Platinum and Gold Wireless headsets (along with third-party devices that use USB or the audio jack), arcade sticks, flight sticks, and racing wheels. These items will work with with supported PlayStation 4 games and PlayStation 5 games.
Sony has announced that it's hosting another State of Play livestream this week, with an emphasis on current hardware. In other words, don't go into the stream expecting to learn anything new about PlayStation 5.
The State of Play starts at 1 p.m. Pacific this Thursday on Sony's official Twitch and YouTube channels and will run about 40 minutes. Sony says viewers will get some new information on several PS4 and PSVR games, in addition to updates on some of the third-party and indie titles that were shown during the June 11 State of Play.
"There won’t be any updates around hardware, business, preorders, or dates either," Sony said on a related blog post. "On Thursday, our focus is squarely on showcasing some cool upcoming games coming to the broader PlayStation ecosystem. Should be fun!"
Wargaming and Hasbro have teamed up to bring the Transformers to World of Warships (PC) and World of Warships: Legends on console in September. That's right, Transformers. Weird, fun collaborations are no stranger to World of Warships, which has also been injected with other stuff like anime over the years.
Now, we've got the big names from one of the biggest robot brands out there coming to do battle. Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, and Rumble are all coming to the big sea brawl, complete with ship skins and voiceovers. The upcoming content patch will also include special missions, containers, flags, patches and more that sync up with the Transformers. Sounds pretty out there, right? Take a look at the trailer below to see how these 80's cartoon legends arrive in World of Warships.

Fae Tactics is out on Steam now, and it has a spiffy new launch trailer that zooms through many of the game's features. Fae Tactics is a "Final Fantasy Tactics-like" which is sort of a subgenre of the greater strategy RPG landscape. While not a strict adherent like Fell Seal: Arbiters Mark, there's a lot of the same DNA coursing through its fae anatomy.
Defeat creatures in the world you can then summon to use as your own, cook up cake buffs while you camp between matches, and beef up your bike to travel to more exotic destinations as you search for your mother while fighting the forces of darkness. You can even party up with a boxing chicken. Check out the launch trailer below!

A team? Abilities? Economy? Pfft, get rid of it. Valorant‘s second Act is dropping this week, bringing with it a brand new free-for-all deathmatch game mode in which you’ll have to rely on your shooting prowess alone to guide you to Victory. It’s coming to Riot Game’s guns n’ wizards FPS on Wednesday 5th August. The day before that, however, Valorant Act 2 launches, with a new battle pass and some funky cosmetics for you to buy and unlock.
is a three-player 2D action RPG about… well it has a plot, but come on. It’s about tearing up some monsters and taking their stuff. And it does that pretty well.
The world is blighted by the dying gasp of an apocalyptic monster, and you set out as part of a team of three to fix it by stabbing everything. Rather than a linear campaign, you run at dungeons in a 2.5D style, exploring each small network of interconnected screens and treasure rooms. As you gather resources and rescue NPCs, your base camp will be upgraded with more features, letting you buy and sell weapons, order custom gear, recruit new characters, and unlock new areas. It’s all very typical, on the face of it, but there’s enough charm coursing through its veins to help it punch above its weight.
this means the download will be big, but the overall size of the game will actually shrink on your consoles after you download the patch, even though we're adding a bunch of new content for the season.
