Konami has set Silent Hill fans' pulses racing with some cheeky tweets from the publisher's official Twitter account.
All it took was a gif of the iconic siren noise from Silent Hill and the message "Close your eyes. Always scary. Silent Hill 2 Siren" for the Silent Hill community to jump to attention, speculating wildly about why the company has chosen to refer to Silent Hill now.
"Easy there internet," Konami posted shortly thereafter. "We were watching streams of Dead By Daylight and thought we would share the noise and feel of being hunted. We won't take the tweet down and "backpedal", we just wanted you to enjoy it."
Announcing the achievement on Twitter, developer Obsidian also took time to celebrate the milestone with the news that, starting from 27th August, 2020, monthly updates will be deployed for the pint-sized playground.
"Grounded has reached 1 MILLION players in the first 48 hours! Thank you everyone! YOU are the reason we are having as much [fun] as we are, and without you we wouldn't be here! To show his thanks, Grounded's Game Director, Adam Brennecke, has a special message."
After a string of intriguing and obscure shmups, Hamster has pulled out one of the all-time classics for this week's Arcade Archives release: Data East's BurgerTime, now available to download on Nintendo Switch.
Chances are if you're reading this here website, you probably don't need a heads-up on the legendary title. Released in arcades back in 1982, BurgerTime is a single-screen platformer which sees players in control of chef Peter Pepper, scurrying up and down ladders in an effort to complete an order of hamburgers which - for unexplained reasons - are three times the size of our protagonist. Attempting to hinder Peter's progress is a selection of living foodstuffs, such as sausages and eggs, which Peter can stun with a quick dash of pepper.

Microsoft appears to have rebranded its Xbox Game Pass to just Game Pass.
If the recent changes on its social media accounts are anything to go by, the service is continuing to use the Xbox logo but has dropped the word 'Xbox' from its official branding.
The Game Pass and Game Pass on PC Twitter accounts announced the changes with a couple of cheeky tweets yesterday (thanks, Thurrott, via VGC), although the word "Xbox" is interestingly still retained in the accounts' names for now:
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord has been in early access for a while and its developers at TaleWorlds Entertainment have been extremely proactive in updating it in the past few months.
Now they have decided on a new format to showcase recent and upcoming changes to the game that is a bit more accessible than walls of text.
We get a brand new video development update showcasing some great additions like cheer emotes, streamlined conversations, and the ability to select your party members before invading a hideout. We also get a nice discussion about multiplayer testing.
You can watch it below.
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is currently available in early access via Steam and Epic Games Store. If you’re not familiar with the game, you can read an official description.
I tend to ditch the main story in open world games as soon as I can in favor of exploring, so I’ve barely made a dent in Ghost of Tsushima’s plot. I’ve parkoured my way to a lot of shrines and chased a lot of foxes. Mostly, though, I’ve been looking for more hot springs, so I can make protagonist Jin take more baths.
It’s never been a worse time to be an oil company. Even the biggest ofBig Oil firms are falling apart like shoddily built McMansions on a patch of quicksand.
Warframe's third open world, Heart of Deimos, will be added to the game on all platforms on August 25, 2020, and brings with it a brand new way to customize your Warframe in the Helminth Chrysalis System, Necromechs, and much more.
Revealed at TennoCon 2020, Deimos' open world features a hauntingly-beautiful landscape that has been overrun by Infested enemies, the dark Entrati, and more "sights unseen in ever-changing underground cave networks."
Players will also be able to "harness the power of the Void" with the community-designed Xaku, which also happens to be the second-ever Warframe to be "designed by the Tenno."
Microsoft has updated its branding for both Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass PC by removing the word "Xbox" from its social channel's logos.
As reported by Thurrott, this change has been made for both @XboxGamePass and @XboxGamePassPC, although the names of each account are still Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass For PC, respectively, and the Xbox logo is still present.
Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games released a new video about its upcoming space simulator focusing on the Orison landing zone.
The video features live game director Todd Papy and art director Ian Leyland as they discuss what’s left to do to complete the Stanton System.
Interestingly, we also get to take the first work-in-progress look at Orison, the landing zone floating in the clouds of the gas giant Crusader.
The first part of the reveal is whitebox, which means it lacks textures and details, being used to showcase the layout of the area. We also get to see some still “visual target tests” that provide a better look at what Orison should look like when it’s completed.
To be more precise, it’s sitting on 306,675,454 at the moment of this writing.
The number of registered accounts is now over 2.7 million (currently 2,746,234).
As usual, it’s known that not all of them are paying players. The number includes free accounts created for a variety of reasons, including free fly events.

Developer Mikage released a brand new trailer of its upcoming JRPG Criminal Girls X.
The trailer focuses on providing an introduction to the game’s story and characters, including many of the “criminal girls” that will join our party.
Incidentally, while the game is releasing in Japan for Android on October 8 and iOS and PC on November 17, we already know that it’s coming to the west with the title Escape from Asura for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, localized by Aksys.
At the moment, we don’t have the slightest idea of what will be changed for the console version. That being said, you can watch the trailer below.
If you’re unfamiliar with the project, a while ago Mikage launched a crowdfunding campaign to revive Nippon Ichi Software’s JRPG franchise Criminal Girls.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons' update 1.4.0 brought with it several new features, including a major online component from Animal Crossing: New Leaf on 3DS--Dream Suite! You can now dream in New Horizons, which means you can visit carbon copies of other players' islands as well as upload one of your own for other people to visit. This way, you can explore other players' islands while they're offline--maybe to get some decorating inspiration, for example--and show off your own island without fear of people trampling your flowers or stealing items.
Below we detail everything you need to know about dreaming in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, including the requirements, what you're allowed to do in a dream, how to visit a dream island, and how to upload your own island.
Luna explaining the basics of dreaming in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
How To Dream In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

In order to dream in New Horizons, you'll need an internet connection and an active Nintendo Online subscription. You'll also need any kind of bed in-game; you should have received Luna's bed in the mail after downloading the update, but anything you can lie down on will do. Once you lie down, you'll be given a dialogue prompt; select "Yeah, I want to sleep" to initiate dreaming.
First shown during Digital Extreme's TennoCon 2020 livestream, Warframe's Heart of Deimos expansion introduces a dark storyline set in the game’s next open world location on Mars' moon. In this large-scale update to the online action-RPG, you'll face off against new hordes of the Infested who have taken control of the moon Deimos, wresting control from the lost Entrati family. You'll find new armaments of power while you're exploring the moon. These include a customizable mech suit as well as the new ability to enhance your characters even more than before. However, it will cost you.
Before its debut at TennoCon, GameSpot had the opportunity to check out an early look at the Heart of Deimos expansion. The new content will be open to all players who have unlocked Mars on the star map, allowing newcomers and veterans to jump into the new story focusing on the Infested control of Mars' moon. Encompassing the surface as well as a large, procedurally generated network of underground caverns, you'll explore a section of Deimos known as the Cambion Drift to aid the remnants of the Entrati family, while also unlocking the true power of the Helminth, which has been tucked away on your ship.
TennoCon 2020 is happening today, August 1, and you won't want to miss out on the announcements or a chance to get free Warframe prizes via Twitch drops. TennoCon is Digital Extremes' annual Warframe fan event, packed to the gills with new information on the game, revelations, and prizes. Because of the ongoing pandemic, it's completely virtual for 2020, meaning you can catch all the action from your home through the streamed presentations.
Heart of Deimos is the next major expansion coming to Warframe, and Digital Extremes has some other surprises in store for fans. It's a full day of content meant for fans, so you won't want to miss any of it.
How To Watch TennoCon 2020
All of TennoCon 2020 will be streamed on the official Warframe Twitch channel. We've also embedded the stream directly above, so you can see everything and keep your eye on the schedule of events. We’re in a bit of the summer doldrums for big games, but there’s still plenty to get excited about. Fall Guys comes to PS4 and PC this week. There’s a Fast & Furious game. And Horizon Zero Dawn makes its PC debut.

343 did confirm that when Crossplay is released, it will arrive with Input Based MM and Server Region Selection. It also stated that Custom Game Browser will release with Per Game Graphics Options and M&K Support for Xbox.

Tekken 7 will continue to expand, as Season Pass 4 has been announced. The new DLC will add some extra characters the game's ever-expanding roster, as well as some general improvements to online play and extra fighting moves.
The trailer, below, celebrates the game's community and hints at the difficulties of 2020--and how Tekken 7 can help to allievate some of them. It also hints at one of the new characters being added, without revealing them directly.

Wide Ocean Big Jacket has released a new content update, adding a few extra chapters to the extremely likable indie narrative game. The Meryl and Alan chapters, which were previously released as a demo during LudoNarraCon 2020, are now available in the full game.
These chapters focus on two characters who appear as side-figures during the main game, and you'll now be able to play as them and experience their story. As the original game was all of 90 minutes long, this extra content is most welcome.
Wide Ocean Big Jacket update!
We added the "Meryl and Alan" chapters from our Ludonarracon demo into the main game on Switch, Steam, and Itch.
The full game follows Cloanne and Brad, who have taken their young niece Mord and her boyfriend Brad on a camping trip. It's not a game that's particularly rich with incident--the characters hang out, tell spooky stories, enjoy nature, and have tough conversations. It's beautiful.
The Halo Infinite gameplay reveal showed off many aspects of the Xbox Series X launch title, including its large world, grapple hook, and back-to-basics combat design. But it also showed off a visual engine that a lot of fans were not impressed by, which has been exemplified by "Craig", the Brute whose deadpan expression has become a gaming meme for the ages.
Now, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has given his thoughts on the meme, and he seems to see the funny side of it. Asked by a fan for his take, Spencer called Craig "our new official Xbox mascot."
Behold Craig, the face of Xbox.
Continuing on, Spencer cited Craig as a great example of the creativity of the Xbox community. You can view the tweet below.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the battle royale game Warzone are set for a big week, as the much-anticipated Season 5 update is due to arrive very soon.
Writing on Twitter, production director Paul Haile has now warned fans to expect yet another "big" update in terms of the file size. As with previous updates, the file size will be large, but the patch also contains back-end configurations that actually decrease the overall file size of the game. This happens through "optimization" of the game's asset packs, Hiele said.
"This means the download will be big, but the overall size of the game will actually shrink on your consoles after you download the patch, even though we're adding a bunch of new content for the season," he said.
Ice-T is known to be a big gamer, but he's only appeared in a few games himself. One of his most iconic appearances is in the Def Jam series, appearing in Def Jam: Fight For NY and its PSP spin-off Fight for NY: The Takeover. The Def Jam fighting series was beloved, and many people have called for its returning--and now Ice-T has joined their ranks.
Ice-T has tweeted out a photo of himself in-game, and said that he thinks that "they really need to reboot this game for the new consoles." With the PS5 and Xbox Series X on the way, we can't help but agree.
Gamer Stuff: I think they really need to reboot this game for the new consoles.. 💥🤛🏽 pic.twitter.com/o5SWG6W19B
Whether or not this eventuates--or if Ice-T's tweet catches the attention of anyone in a position to get the ball rolling--remains to be seen, but Fight for NY was a pretty great game.
This test, or "flight" as Microsoft calls it, will begin the first half of August, developer 343 Industries said in a blog post. To get into the beta, you must be a Halo Insider member, and you can sign up for the free program here. Assuming this beta test is similar to previous ones, the rollout will begin small, so you may not be invited in right away.
Only a "slice" of ODST will be available in the PC beta test, 343 said. A beta test for Halo 3: ODST on Xbox One is also in the works, but this will presumably be related to the Firefight mode, as ODST's campaign is already available on Xbox One.
Ghost of Tsushima has been out on PS4 for less than two weeks, but already the game's player base has put some serious time into Sucker Punch's samurai adventure. Now PlayStation has released some of the stats from the game's first 10 days, showing off how many times some of the game's activities have been enjoyed.
In a tweet, PlayStation revealed 11 stats about the game across three images. Players took a lot of photos with the game's excellent photo mode, it seems, and went out of their way to pat a lot of foxes.
You can view the tweet below, but here's the full rundown of stats released:
While the first part of Animal Crossing: New Horizons' summer update added swimming and diving, the second part of the update brought with it a very different kind of summer activity: fireworks! Every Sunday in August, there will be a fireworks show on your island, hosted by Jolly Redd. You can exchange bells for raffle tickets in order to win festive items, and you can even use your own custom designs for fireworks. Below is everything you need to know about the fireworks shows.
The fireworks shows take place every Sunday in August at 7 PM your time--this applies to both Northern and Southern Hemisphere islands. They're hosted in the plaza outside Resident Services by Jolly Redd, the one Animal Crossing character who's sure to have a good fireworks hookup, as well as Isabelle. But while the plaza is the epicenter, you'll be able to view the fireworks from any location on your island that has a good view of the sky.
