My Friend Pedro TV Series from John Wick Creator Confirmed

3 years 8 months ago
My Friend Pedro will be adapted into an R-rated TV series by the creator of John Wick. The show will be a half-hour dramedy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Derek Kolstad, the writer of the first two John Wick movies and a co-writer of the third, will write the series and serve as an executive producer. The uncredited co-director of the first John Wick and director of Deadpool 2 and Hobbs & Shaw, David Leitch, will also executive produce the project. The game tells the story of a person who wakes up in a butcher shop where a banana named Pedro tells them about the secret and nasty operations of the butcher shop. The banana then teaches the player to commit murder. The creator of My Friend Pedro, Victor Ågren, said the game was inspired by the works of Kolstad and Leitch and it's a "dream come true" to see them adapt his game. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/06/17/7-things-that-inspired-my-friend-pedro"] "It's hard to find the words to describe the journey this game has taken," Ågren said in a statement. "'A dream come true' would be one way to put it - but in truth I could have never in a million years even began to imagine things to work out the way they have. The work of both Derek Kolstad and David Leitch (all the way back to his stunt days on films like The Matrix) has been a huge influence on shaping My Friend Pedro. To later find them attached to a TV-adaptation of the game boggles my mind. There must be something bigger at play here. As a solo developer tucked away in a small corner of the world, it really makes me think that as long as you create from the right place the result can reach even as far as the giants of Hollywood.

Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito Will Star in a Mystery Game Project

3 years 8 months ago
Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito will appear in an upcoming video game but he isn't able talk about it just yet - although he thinks it will be "huge". Esposito spoke with Collider recently about how playing Gus Fring on Breaking Bad changed his life and broached a number of topics in the interview. He eventually touched on motion capture and that style of acting for a big upcoming video game. "This video game I did, which is going to be huge — can't mention it," Esposito said. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=next-gen-buzzwords-explained&captions=true"] After being asked about how Epic Games' Unreal Engine is being used to film The Mandalorian, Esposito wouldn't say if that technology is what's being used in this video game, although he did say his part with this game included a "new style of acting." Esposito provided the voice and motion capture for The Dentist in PayDay 2 so it'd be odd for him to be referring to motion capture when he said "new style of acting." It could be actually be a new style of acting, separate from motion capture as well. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/18/the-biggest-ps4-and-ps5-games-of-2020"] The big video game Esposito is featured in is seemingly unannounced at this time, but there are still plenty of opportunities for this game to be revealed this year, assuming the reveal is set to happen in 2020.

It would appear that Inti Creates' mythic platformer Dragon Marked for Death is preparing to take flight on PS4 at some point in the near future, after a PlayStation Store database entry was discovered by top-tier leakers Gamestat.

Originally launching on Nintendo Switch in January 2019, (although having been on the cards since way back in 2010), Dragon Marked for Death allows up to four players to venture into the hazardous Kingdom of Medius, on a mission to rescue their abducted oracle and restore the legacy of their noble Dragonblood Clan. Choosing from one of four distinct classes - Empress, Witch, Warrior, or Shinobi - players sally forth on a fast-moving platform adventure, all realised in colourful and highly detailed sprite work.

Cyberpunk 2077 scrapped its wall-running mechanic

3 years 8 months ago

While it's definitely safe to say that Cyberpunk 2077 looks like a veritable banquet of gameplay features - including firefights, vehicular chaos, character customisation, dialogue trees, and many other popular mechanics  - it seems that one previously planned element has fallen by the wayside: wall-running.

Speaking in an interview with Game Reactor, CD Projekt RED's Max Pears noted that while anti-gravity parkour action was definitely on the drawing board, it was ultimately decided that wall-running just didn't work within Night City's infrastructure. "Ah, the wall running," Pears explained when asked about the missing feature. "That is something that we removed due to design reasons, but there's still going to be a lot of flexibility in how you move, that's for sure."

Personally, I can live without it. Given the suffocating structure of Night City and its many interior locations, I would imagine that wall-running - though undeniably badass - might be hindered by Cyberpunk's general approach to high-detail environments. Games such as Mirror's Edge Catalyst and Titanfall 2, designed around wide-open spaces, rooftops, and roomy interiors, are custom-built for such shenanigans. But grungy dive bars, office block interiors and signpost-filled alleyways? Perhaps not so much.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches November 19 on PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Stadia.

Desperados III Review – All Good, No Bad or Ugly

3 years 8 months ago

Desperados III on PlayStation 4

As someone who grew up watching John Wayne with is dad, I’ve always had a soft spot for westerns. Combine that attachment with my evergrowing love affair with the RTS genre, and playing Desperados III seems like a no brainer.

While the franchise is entirely foreign to me, jumping into Desperados III wasn’t too jarring – thanks in part to the fact that it’s a prequel to the first game. The story follows bounty hunter John Cooper’s quest for revenge, as he hunts for the man who killed his father.

Along the way, Cooper teams up with a handful of other miscreants with similar goals. Each character features their own unique set of skills that can be controlled in tandem with John’s.

Souls-Like Hellpoint Gets a Release Date in New Trailer Spotlighting Co-Op Gameplay

3 years 8 months ago

Developer Cradle Games’ Souls-like Hellpoint has a new trailer today showcasing some punishing co-operative action. More importantly, it also reveals the game’s new release date. After having been delayed from its original April launch as a result of COVID-19 earlier this year, Hellpoint will now release on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC next month, July 30.

For those not up to speed, Hellpoint is set in the aftermath of a massive quantum cataclysm called the Merge. Players take control of their protagonists is they wake up on board the Irid Novo space station, a beacon of galactic cooperation and scientific exploration gone horribly wrong.

As you’ll see from the below trailer, Hellpoint’s aesthetic is an interesting fusion of sci-fi and fantasy. Its eerie space-station setting and terrifying demon-like enemies are reminiscent of Event Horizon if anybody is as old as I am and remembers being utterly terrified of that particular film as a child!

As for gameplay, it’s a typical Souls-like, featuring drop-in, drop-out cooperative functionality, meaning you can enjoy the story uninterupted if your buddies want to jump in and play with you one evening.

Pokemon GO July Community Day Will Feature Gastly; Bonuses Revealed

3 years 8 months ago

It was announced today that the Ghost and Poison-type Gastly will be featured in the Pokemon GO Community Day for the month of July.

On Sunday, July 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time, Gastly will begin to appear more frequently in the wild. If you are particularly lucky, there is also a chance of finding and catching a shiny Gastly.

If you evolve a Haunter, which is the evolved form of Gastly, during the event or up to two hours afterward, the Pokemon will learn the move Shadow Punch when it turns into Gengar.

Taking a photograph of a Pokemon during the Community Day hours will make a Gastly photobomb the picture, which can make for creative shots.

Like most Community Days, a special one-time purchase box will be available in the shop. It will contain 30 Ultra Balls, an Elite Fast TM, two Incense, and two Super Incubators.

For $1, you can access a Special Research story that is exclusive to this month’s Community Day. It is called The Great Gastly, and the story follows Professor Willow as he investigates something mysterious happening in the lab.

But that’s not all: there are a few other bonuses to look forward to during the July Community Day as well. Eggs will only require 1/4 distance to hatch, and incense activated during the event will last for three hours.

Gastly was the runner-up of the recent community poll; Weedle was the first place winner and received its own Community Day last month.

PUBG Mobile Is 2020’s Most Lucrative Mobile Game After Earning $3 Billion

3 years 8 months ago

A new report from Sensor Tower has today spotlighted the incredible performance of PUBG Mobile over the past seven months. In 2020 alone the game has earned $3 billion in revenue, making it the world’s most lucrative mobile game.

Spending has particularly strong in China, where a censored version of PUBG called Game For Peace has generated the majority of revenue. It has seen $1.6 billion in lifetime player spending on China’s App Store alone, which is 52% of the total.

Sensor Tower notes that both versions benefitted especially from COVID-19 stay-at-home measures; revenue peaked at a record $270 million in March during the height of the lockdown.

The first half of 2020 revenue numbers eclipse the rest of the mobile shooter genre, four times higher than that of the next most successful game, Garena Free Fire ($300 million).

These Marvel Figures Were Designed by Kingdom Hearts Creator; Up for Preorder Now

3 years 8 months ago

Tetsuya Nomura, famed Japanese video game designer and co-creator of the Kingdom Hearts series, has designed several Marvel Bring Arts figures that are now available for preorder from Square Enix’s official shopping site.

The three figures are based on Captain America, Iron Man, and Spider-Man, with them standing about 5-6 inches tall in height. These figures will typically cost you about $135 USD, but right now you can grab them for 10% off, but we’re not entirely sure when this promotional period will end.

The Nomura-designed figures are planned to begin shipping sometime in December 2020 and each one will come with a display stand, as well as tons of accessories to let you pose these characters whatever way you want on your memorabilia shelf.

While these figures don’t have an abundance of zippers and pockets like Nomura’s other character designs, they still look pretty dang cool and high-quality.

You can check out a gallery of images down below, but make sure to check out the official shop for extra photos and more information:

Outriders Interview & Broadcast #2 Dives Into Story, Game Length, Pyromancer Class & More

3 years 8 months ago

Today the team behind Outriders, People Can Fly, has shared their second broadcast showing off more gameplay of the anticipated looter-shooter. In addition, the team was also able to answer a few questions that Twinfinite had about the latest broadcast. Let’s get into all of it.

Story Progression

Outriders will begin near human settlements that are trying to survive, but eventually the story will break out of that area and will move to more diverse lands that are deep into the unexplored areas of the planet of Ennoch to try and find the source of the mysterious signal that is driving the plot of the game.

According to the developers, the environment of each region is going to be key to learning a lot about Ennoch’s history, story, lore and the overall development of the human colonies and outposts. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to say much more than that, but stressed that as we penetrate into new areas, things will certainly change.

Sakura Wars Devs “Open” To Revisiting Earlier Games If There Is Demand

3 years 8 months ago

The latest Sakura Wars game brought the series back after over a decade under the radar, but what about the older games of the series?

Having been released across the Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, and PS2 generations (between 1996 and 2005), the five numbered Sakura Wars Games that form the foundation of the story of the new ones are mostly inaccessible to younger gamers who aren’t into retro consoles.

Could Sega bring the series from the original Sakura Wars to Sakura Wars V (Known in the west as Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love) back in some form?

Twinfinite asked Tetsuya Ootsubo, the director of the latest game whether a remaster or similar initiative is possible. Apparently, it’s not out of the question, as long as there is demand for it.

“Regarding remasters and/or remakes, it’s true that the older titles can’t be played on modern equipment, so if there is sufficient demand for it, we are open to the idea of revisiting the earlier games.”

If you want to play the original games on newer platforms, you may want to let Sega know.

Of course, you can expect to read the full interview on Twinfinite soon, including the fact that the development team is pushing for a sequel and doing research about the possibility of additional platforms.
