Cyberpunk 2077 no longer has wallrunning
CD Projekt Red have confirmed, to my great dismay, that the ability to wallrun has been cut from Cyberpunk 2077 over the course of development. Wallruning! The second-coolest movement in first-person games, after slidekicks! Tragedy. CDPR say they cut wallrunning “due to design reasons”. Fair play, they probably know what they’re doing with their own game. I think it still has the fourth-coolest movement, regular slides? I can live with slides.
CPU deals of the week – 2nd July 2020
Not a happy time in the world of CPU deals this week. After a steady couple of weeks of gradually falling prices, many CPU deals have started moving in the opposite direction now, making it a bad time to get a good CPU bargain. There are still a couple of CPU deals worth picking up, though, all of which you’ll find listed below. And to help you see just how much of a deal (or not) it is, we’ve rounded up the best prices for all of today’s [cms-block]s so you can see how they compare against one another. So whether you’re looking for the best Intel CPU deals or the best AMD Ryzen CPU deals for building a new PC, these are the cheapest CPU deals around right now.
This mod turns Dark Souls into a roguelike
It’s easy to overemphasise the importance of difficulty to Dark Souls, but I’d still argue it’s integral. From Software’s gruelling RPGs do loads else that’s cool, but part of the appeal is bound up with the same satisfaction you get from climbing a mountain. You want that tension, and the blessed relief of finally beating a boss after chucking yourself betwixt its jaws for the 38th time. That’s why I have mixed feelings about this mod for Dark Souls: Remastered that turns the first game into a roguelike with randomised weapons, enemies and levels, and only gives you five lives to reach the end.
I love it. It scares me. It’s made by “Grimrukh”, the same bloke that made the popular Daughters Of Ash mod.
Halo fans are getting more Halo Infinite information from Mega Bloks than Microsoft right now
While we wait for Microsoft to show off its upcoming Xbox Series X games, Halo fans starved of information on Halo Infinite just got a dump of fresh details - from Mega Bloks.
Overnight, Mega Bloks revealed its Mega Construx Halo Infinite range, and while much of it is as you'd expect (Master Chief/UNSC vs the Covenant), there are some story details fans have gleaned from the plastic toys.
THERE MAY BE SPOILERS AHEAD.
Devolver Digital is hosting its own E3 Direct broadcast
Cheeky indie publisher Devolver Digital will host its E3 replacement livestream show next Saturday, 11th July at 8pm UK time.
It's called the Devolver Direct, and its branding is absolutely in no way inspired by anything Nintendo has ever done in the past.
Devolver has promised gameplay reveals, release date announcements and special guests from the industry to "continue the tradition of overpromises". A typical games industry show, then.
Minecraft Dungeons' latest update adds a cut secret level
There's a new secret level to unlock in Minecraft Dungeons - one that was cut from the game pre-release.
Lower Temple is a fresh procedurally-generated dungeon available for free via the game's latest update.
Fans had been aware of its existence for a while, though it was left out of the game at launch. Now, it's unlockable for all - at the same time as the game dropped its first of two paid expansions.
Nintendo reveals Metroid... as a Jump Rope Challenge costume
Don't worry, Metroid fans! Samus Aran is now available on Nintendo Switch as a costume in Jump Rope Challenge.
The fitness mini-game developed in lockdown by Nintendo now hosts a collection of Nintendo characters, including the company's much-missed space bounty hunter.
Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Bowser, Wario, Link, Isabelle, some Splatoon people and the bunny from the 3DS Badge Arcade are also included.
Review: Iron Man VR
I don't know what it is about Iron Man that drew me to him as a kid. His cool suit? His sassy demeanor? Eventually, Robert Downey Jr.? Maybe all of the above.
But one thing is for certain: stepping into his shoes in VR isn't quite as cool as it could be.

Minecraft Dungeons’ Latest Update Includes a New Level, First Expansion Now Live
If you enjoyed Minecraft Dungeons but thought its launch offerings were a little thin, here’s some good news. The game’s latest update is now live, and it includes a new level called the Lower Temple.
The Lower Temple is completely free as well, and you don’t need to own the expansion pass to access it. To get to the Lower Temple, you’ll first need to play through the Desert Temple level and go through the hidden path right after the first checkpoint of that level.
In addition to that, the first expansion for Minecraft Dungeons is also now live for expansion pass holders. The expansion is called Jungle Awakens, and it adds three new missions and a brand new area to the game for players to explore.
More content really is what this game needed as the core gameplay was fun enough, functioning as a nice Diablo-lite that’s comfortable to play and not too overwhelming for newcomers to get into. With more content to get through, this game will have a lot more longevity going forward.
Minecraft Dungeons is now available on PC and consoles.

Syscrusher is the most fun I've had in an FPS all year
I’m still drip feeding on the endless treasures from The Bundle. It’s healthier than bingeing, and you get more out of it that way. And that’s how I stumbled across Syscrusher, a tiny game about shooting robots.
I’ve installed and wearily deleted a dozen shooters in the last 8 months or so. I wish I could replace all their million unnecessary gigabytes with more of Syscrusher.

We love a good Steelseries Arctis gaming headset here at RPS, and we love them even more when they’re on sale. Handy, then, that Amazon UK have knocked £30 off the Arctis 5 at the moment, taking this excellent wired headset down to a very appealing £80, while the super fancy Arctis Pro + GameDAC has had £15 shaved off its price, taking it to £185. Plus, as an added bonus, they’ve also dropped the price of Steelseries’ ambidextrous Sensei Ten mouse to an all-time low of £40.
Sexism and harassment in the games industry isn't just about big names: the entire culture must change
Content warning: This story contains upsetting content. Reader discretion advised.
For the second time in less than a year, the games industry is experiencing a wave of Me Too allegations, and the scale of the problem is staggering. Esports, streaming platforms, game development, journalism: wherever you look, stories of sexism and harassment are finally emerging after years of silence and pain. At long last, some of those who abused their power are facing consequences for their actions.

Iron Man VR: The Kotaku Review
Iron Man feels like a perfect fit for virtual reality. In the movies, Tony Stark’s advanced armor operates like VR, with a virtual screen projected inside his helmet. Maid of Sker's Terrifying Welsh Survival Horror Releases This Month
Maid of Sker, a new first-person survival horror from Wales Interactive, releases July 28. It's based on the less-explored topic of Welsh folklore, and you can check out some chilling gameplay footage in the trailer below.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/30/maid-of-sker-official-gameplay-trailer"]
Fusing Welsh folklore with Gothic British horror, Maid of Sker sees you attempt to survive an encounter with the Quiet Ones; bag-headed horrors that can hear your every move and even, seemingly, your breathing. Covering your mouth is mandatory to get past some of these villains, but the gameplay reveals that sonic weaponry in the form of a sound pulse-emitting orb will help keep the Quiet Ones at bay.
Releasing on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One in digital and physical forms (with the physical edition published by Perp Games), Maid of Sker will be available to pre-order from July 21 and buy from July 28. Wales Interactive are the publisher behind interactive movie/game hybrids like The Complex and Late Shift, and more traditional games like Soul Axiom.

Halo Fans Think Mega Bloks Toys May Have Spoiled a Halo Infinite Plot Point
Marvel’s Iron Man VR Review
It’s a testament to how far VR games have come that I can spend hours at a time flying around in my very own Iron Man suit without feeling even the slightest bit of motion sickness. Marvel’s Iron Man VR makes impressive use of PSVR and its now thoroughly outdated PlayStation Move controllers as an amusing, high-flying action game dotted with superhero flair throughout. But while I enjoyed my time in the iron mask, repetitive missions and a bland story keep the PS4’s latest Marvel exclusive from ever flying too high.
In case this wasn’t abundantly clear, Iron Man VR is a PSVR exclusive where you take first-person control of Tony Stark himself in and out of the suit. That means using hand-directed repulsors to nimbly soar through the air while shooting down robotic enemy drones, but it also means walking around his lavish Malibu home and upgrading your suit between the missions of its linear campaign.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-ign-playstation-first-party-exclusive-review&captions=true"]
These moments as Tony are often little more than a vehicle for story exposition and the occasional equipment upgrade, but they’re still a welcome change of pace when you otherwise spend most of your time in the air. His house is full of cute little interactables like books, edible food, and even a functional arcade basketball game. They’re simple gimmicks that help put you in Tony’s shoes, but also aren’t detailed enough to be worth more than a quick glance if this isn’t your first foray into VR (with the exception of that basketball game, which is genuinely fun).

First episode of Danganronpa's 'Dangan TV' looks at Trigger Happy Havoc and the creation of a classic
Spike Chunsoft has launched the first episode of "Dangan TV: Hope Keeps On Going!", a new web series looking at creepy/cute murder mystery series Danganronpa. The series has been commissioned in part to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Kazutaka Kodaka's wild world of classroom chaos.
The first episode, titled "How I Discovered Danganronpa", goes back to the first game in the series - 2010's Trigger Happy Havoc - as host and series voice actor Megumi Ogata chats with both Kodaka and series producer Yoshinori Terasawa about Danganronpa's conception and creation.

Jump Rope Challenge, which is still free on Switch, just got a huge update that adds Nintendo outfits
Have you checked out Jump Rope Challenge yet? No? I'll wait. Seriously, it's a free two-player 78MB instant-download Switch game: what do you have to lose?
If the idea of jumping rope with your Joy-Con hasn't enticed you on principle, you might want to check out this latest update that adds sweet, sweet pandering nostalgia into the mix. Late last night, Nintendo of America tweeted out a quick update for the freebie, which adds new backgrounds, costumes and the "double-under" technique into the mix.
What costumes you might ask? Well, as usual the Mario series has a lot of reps (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Bowser, Wario), but Link, Samus, Isabelle, two Splatoon Inklings and even the Arcade Bunny are available to cosplay.
Whoa, the Arcade Bunny?! That brings back 3DS memories. Someone is really looking out for that little dude.

Sakura Wars Developers Would Love to Continue the Series; Comment on Possible Additional Platforms
Sega has finally brought back Sakura Wars after over a decade of silence, but we still don’t know what the future holds for the series.
To get a better idea of what we can expect, Twinfinite asked director Tetsuya Ootsubo directly during an interview.
Quizzed on whether he’d like to continue the series and if we can hope for a sequel, Ootsubo-san’s answer was certainly promising, indicating that the development team is pushing to make it happen.
“The development team would love to continue the series, and we’re pushing to make it happen. We appreciate all your support.”
Incidentally, we also asked whether he’d stick with action combat or go back to the turn-based battles featured in earlier Sakura Wars games. Ootsubo-san mentioned that, while the combat in the new game was indeed more action-focused, the developers understand that many still enjoy tactical RPGs, so they’re “continuing to research” what the “next steps should be in order to give fans the best possible experience.”
Currently, the latest Sakura Wars game is available only on PS4, so we also asked whether it could come to other platforms like PC, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch, or maybe even next-generation consoles. We hear that “active” research on the topic is being pursued.
“We’d love to expand the audience for the game! We’re actively researching to see where there is high demand and determine what actions will be feasible.”
Of course, you can expect to read the full interview on Twinfinite soon.
