Nolan North Reveals New Uncharted Movie Pictures, Tells Us A Little About Recent Visit

3 years 5 months ago

Click to watch embedded media

The man behind Nathan Drake himself, Nolan North, recently met Nolan North himself, Tom Holland, during a previous Uncharted movie set visit. Back in October, North shared a few images from his time on set and now we've got two new sneak peeks into the world of this adaptation.

Nolan North voiced the iconic PlayStation character for years and helped bring a beloved narrative to life by essentially becoming Nathan Drake. Spider-Man's Tom Holland will now be carrying on that torch into film playing a much younger Drake for an interesting origins-style tale about one of our favorite heroes.

Speaking with Game Informer, we just had to know what has him the most excited about the film, especially now that he's gotten to see some behind-the-scenes action. "I'm probably most excited to enjoy an Uncharted adventure as a fan just like everyone else," North tells us. "From what I've seen, they've really stayed true to the fun-filled adventure style that the games brought to life so well."

Destiny 2 Is Ending Season Of Arrivals With One More Live Event Before Beyond Light

3 years 5 months ago

Season of Arrivals in Destiny 2 is coming to a close ahead of the upcoming expansion Beyond Light. Out with the old and in with the new, but that doesn't mean we can't finish off the current season with a bang, and with a bang, it shall end with a new live event.

Upon the Almighty's destruction and the danger of Darkness ahead, Guardians have been curious about how Bungie will close out the current Season of Arrivals. Following an email leak that circulated previously, Bungie's Luke Smith has confirmed that a special event is going down.

The leaked email reads as follows:

Be sure to catch the finale of the Season and see the conclusion before Beyond Light releases. For more information on what is coming, read the new This Week at Bungie now."

The email released before it was supposed to, obviously, which is something Luke Smith addressed in a recent tweet. "We have a small event to close out Season of Arrivals," he said. "We wanted it to be a surprise but an email accidentally mentioned it! It's nothing too crazy, just a little time to chill in the Tower before the Lights go out. See you soon!"

3 years 5 months ago

Epic is giving V-Bucks bonuses to Fortnite players on iOS and Mac platforms, likely as an incentive to retain players who can't access Fortnite's updates due to Epic's ongoing lawsuit with Apple and Google.

Here's how it works: For iOS players, Epic will give you a V-Bucks bonus equal to the amount of unspent V-Bucks purchased through the App Store. For Mac players, Epic will also give you a V-Bucks bonus equal to the amount of unspent V-Bucks purchased from Epic. The bonus is expected to hit accounts by November 9.

American Truck Simulator's Colorado expansion arrives next week

3 years 5 months ago

Fans of American Truck Simulator's wonderfully chilled trundling will have a whole new state to explore next Thursday, 12th November, with the arrival of developer SCS' Colorado expansion.

Colorado will mark the seventh state to be added to American Truck Simulator since its launch in 2016 - following on from Arizona, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Idaho - and opens up myriad new routes for long-distance haulers (and landscape oglers) to enjoy across SCS' own take on the Centennial State.

As with American Truck Simulator's other states, it's not an exact recreation, but rather an attempt to distill the essence of Colorado down into a space expansive enough to feel appropriately sweeping, but not so big it takes forever to go anywhere or achieve anything.

100 Thieves Returns To Call Of Duty League

3 years 5 months ago

After a year away, 100 Thieves is returning to the Call of Duty League and competing under the moniker Los Angeles Thieves. 100 Thieves purchased their re-entry by acquiring Immortals Gaming Club's OpTic Gaming LA slot.

100 Thieves is a gaming organization/lifestyle brand with multiple esports teams under its management. It is founded by a well-known and decorated Call of Duty player, Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag. The organization has also achieved impressive results in the CoD World League, including placing second place in 2019. To the surprise of many, 100 Thieves left the CoD esports circuit in 2019 when the new Call of Duty League launched. Haag cited the prohibitive cost of entry as the exit's reason. Activision priced CoD league spots at $25 million, so any organization needs that at a minimum in order to compete. It is undisclosed how much 100 Thieves shelled out for a CoD franchise.

Watch Dogs Legion is booting a journalist off its fictional radio

3 years 5 months ago

Artwork featuring a hacker spray-painting a goon's face in Watch Dogs Legion.

For the fictional futuristic radio in Watch Dogs Legion, Ubisoft used some actual journalists in the UK to provide voice talent. Seemed like a neat idea until Ubisoft (and I) learned that one of the hosts whose voice appears in game has published some pretty ugly opinions about transgender people. That’s decidedly not neat, so Ubisoft say they’re replacing the two radio episodes that Helen Lewis appears in.

Silent Hills P.T. Was On PS5 Before It Was Quickly Removed

3 years 5 months ago

Click to watch embedded media

When Konami canceled Hideo Kojima's Silent Hills P.T., horror fans were crushed. With the future of the horror franchise, as a whole, unclear, the unfinished experience remains a beloved treasure kept alive by many fan recreations and mods. With the new generation of systems upon us, many media with a PS5 system have reported that P.T. was available on the newest console only for it to quickly disappear back into obscurity once more. Or, at least it will remain in last-gen.

Because of its iconic placement in games, certain media members with review units were quick to see if P.T. would be playable on the new PS5 system. Though Sony has confirmed P.T. would not be backwards compatible, that didn't stop GamesRadar's Leon Hurley from making those dreams a reality anyway. Hurley reports that he was able to play the canceled project on the PS5 for the past several weeks only to see it abruptly shout down and removed from the store completely.

Hurley mentioned in his coverage that following P.T.'s removal, he reached out to both Konami and Sony, only to have Konami answer with a simple: "Reach out to Sony about that matter." So he did, and while Sony said it is looking into it, an answer doesn't seem to be provided.

What To Do Before Getting Your Xbox Series X/S

3 years 5 months ago

The launch of the next generation of Xbox consoles is nearly upon us. Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S both release on November 10, which is just a few days away. While you might already have your plans made for which games and accessories you'll be picking up alongside the new hardware, those transitioning to a Series X or S from an Xbox One have some other things they should prepare for in the meantime.

Below, we've highlighted the key things you should consider doing before you get your hands on the new console. It'll ensure you come prepared to jump into the next-gen experience and--if nothing else--it'll help pass the time and make the wait for Tuesday feel a little shorter. Be sure to also give our Xbox Series X review a read to see what awaits. You can also read our Xbox Series S review if you're curious about that system.

Move Your Games To External Storage

Perhaps the most obvious and straightforward thing to do is to get your existing games ready. Microsoft has placed a great deal of emphasis on backwards compatibility, and you can expect quicker load times for virtually everything, along with performance and frame rate improvements and Auto HDR functionality for games on a case-by-case basis. There are a number of new games coming out during launch week, but you may want to also check out how much better your existing games are or simply continue playing something you've already been enjoying on Xbox One.

Ahead of the Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Spider-Man: Remastered launches, Insomniac has been dropping teasers left and right. In the latest reveal, Insomniac took to Twitter to show off the two final all-new suits in Spider-Man: Remastered.

The Arachnid Rider design and name appears to pay homage to popular Japanese superheroes with insect motifs, like the main characters from the long-running Kamen Rider franchise. The Armored Advanced Suit gives a futuristic upgrade to the game's original Advanced Suit, and features a lot more white and a lot less blue.

Prior to announcing the Arachnid Rider and Armored Advanced Suits, Insomniac also told players that it would include a new suit from The Amazing Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Remastered. Star Wars: When Does The Mandalorian Take Place?

3 years 5 months ago
With The Mandalorian returning for a second season on Disney+, fans are finally getting their Baby Yoda fix again. The series continues to chronicle the misadventures of Din Djarin and his adorable sidekick as they seek out other Mandalorians and navigate a galaxy still reeling from the fall of the Empire. One of the biggest questions surrounding the new series is also the most basic - when does The Mandalorian take place? Read on for a detailed breakdown of when the series is set and why this time period is so pivotal to the Star Wars timeline. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-mandalorian-season-2&captions=true"]

When Does The Mandalorian Take Place?

Season 1 of The Mandalorian takes place approximately five years after the events of Return of the Jedi. That also puts it about nine years after the events of Star Wars - A New Hope. The series is fleshing out the Star Wars timeline after the events of the original trilogy, but it's still set nearly 30 years before The Force Awakens, so don't expect characters like Rey or Kylo Ren to show up. It's unclear exactly how much time has elapsed between Seasons 1 and 2, but we'd guess a few months at most. In Season 2 Din can be seen wearing a brand new Beskar armor piece on his right thigh, suggesting he and The Child had a few adventures in between seasons. That story may be explored in one of the tie-in comics or novels Lucasfilm is currently developing.

Watch Dogs: Legion In-Game Podcast Host To Be Replaced, Ubisoft Confirms

3 years 5 months ago

Ubisoft plans to replace an in-game Watch Dogs: Legion podcast host who has made transphobic comments in the past, Kotaku reports.

Helen Lewis, a London-based journalist who serves as a staff writer for The Atlantic, hosts two episodes of Watch Dogs: Legion's BuccanEar podcast. However, Ubisoft confirmed that both episodes will be replaced in an upcoming update. The studio said that Lewis' comments don't reflect those of either Legion or Ubisoft itself.

"We were made aware of controversial remarks from a journalist whose voice-over performance appears in two in-game podcasts in Watch Dogs: Legion," a Ubisoft spokesperson told Kotaku. "Neither Ubisoft nor the game reflect this journalist's viewpoints."

Is PlayStation 5 Or Xbox Series X Right For You?

3 years 5 months ago

With both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S hitting next week, it’s time to decide which new-gen console is right for you. After spending weeks with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, we feel good about the starting point for this generation and its ability to elevate our gaming experience. However, a few differentiating factors could make one or the other a better fit for your situation.

As you read in our PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S reviews, both consoles are physically large and offer substantial performance boosts over their predecessors, slashing load times while adding processing power, audio improvements, and features like ray tracing. With a strong emphasis on getting the player into the game as fast as possible, the two consoles accomplish this in different ways. Xbox Series X/S’s Quick Resume feature lets you suspend several games and bounce between them, picking right up where you left off. This means if you’re the kind of person to play through multiple games in parallel, Xbox’s approach could save you a ton of time. Meanwhile, PlayStation 5 uses Activity Cards, which often let you load directly into the mode or lobby you want to enter, skipping the menu song and dance, and allowing for rapid switching of activities within a given game.

Take-Two is in talks to buy Codemasters

3 years 5 months ago

Grand Theft Auto and Borderlands publisher Take-Two Interactive is currently in talks to acquire Codemasters, the UK publisher and developer responsible for the likes of Dirt and F1.

As reported by VGC, Take-Two - which already owns publishing labels 2K, Rockstar Games, and Private Division - announced it had made a non-binding proposal to acquire Codemasters' entire share capital in an internal statement released earlier today.

Should Take-Two decide to proceed with the offer once confirmatory due diligence is complete and other conditions have been met, Codemasters says its board intends to unanimously recommend that its shareholders accept the deal.
