Xbox Will Also Refund Cyberpunk 2077 Digital Purchases But Is Keeping the Game on the Store

3 years 3 months ago

Microsoft announced that it is expanding its refund policies for Cyberpunk 2077.

The house of Xbox is offering full refunds on the game to anyone who purchased it digitally on the Xbox Store until further notice.

The notice recognizes that CD Projekt RED has worked hard to ship the game under challenging circumstances, but at the same time acknowledges that users have been dissatisfied by their experience on Xbox One.

Microsoft also offered instructions on how to get a refund.

Unlike Sony, Microsoft has not delisted Cyberpunk 2077 from its store, and the game remains available for purchase.

Microsoft Makes It Even Easier To Get Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox Refunds

3 years 3 months ago

The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the more chaotic launches in gaming history weighing heavily with problems such as game-breaking bugs, false advertising, and above-and-beyond review restrictions. Since the game released on all platforms, the issue of how Cyberpunk 2077 performs on last-gen platforms was so bad that the company offered refunds to anyone looking to get one. The problem was that this wasn't cleared with Sony and Microsoft first alongside their own review policies, resulting in Sony refusing many of these requests. Since then, Sony has opened up refunds and has delisted the game completely. While it is still listed on Microsoft, it's been much easier getting a refund there and now the company is making it even easier.

The Xbox Support page issued a multi-tweet thread addressing the concerns over Cyberpunk 2077 alongside a message of acknowledgement to the team itself over at CD Projekt RED.

The thread begins by saying, "To ensure that every player can get the experience they expect on Xbox, we will be expanding our existing refund police to offer full refunds to anyone who purchased Cyberpunk 2077 digitally from the Microsoft Store, until further notice."

Remedy Teases Control: Ultimate Edition On PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

3 years 3 months ago

Control is one of 2019’s finest titles (and Game Informer's Game of the Year) but its performance – especially on base PS4/Xbox One units – could be spotty at times. Remedy has announced the new-gen port of Control: Ultimate Edition, which bundles the base game and its two expansions, with a teaser video providing a taste of how much better the game runs with the added horsepower of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The brief video, recorded on a PS5, offers just a slice of a larger showcase trailer coming at some point in the near future. It gets the point across, though, mainly in how smooth the menu navigation is. That sounds mundane, but any Control player on console can attest to how painfully sluggish the menus are (even on Xbox One X) so this is actually rather exciting. Ultimate Edition on current consoles feature a 60 fps performance mode and 30 fps graphics mode with ray tracing. Get a glimpse at the enhancements below.

CoD: Black Ops Cold War, Warzone Get Another Update, Full Patch Notes Detailed

3 years 3 months ago

Following a recent update that added a bunch of new content to kick off Season 1, developer Treyarch has dropped yet another patch for both Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. This update makes improvements to spawns on Nuketown '84, removes health regen for one team in Prop Hunt, and implements various quality-of-life updates. The full patch notes are outlined below.

Alongside resolving the "Zed 398 Swift Cover" issue that blocked PC players from booting up Season 1 maps, the headlining feature of this update is the newly adjusted spawn logic on Nuketown '84. Though Treyarch didn't go into detail about how spawns have changed, players should expect them to behave more reasonably on the retro-futuristic map.

On the multiplayer side of things, in addition to fixing crashes related to field upgrades and scorestreaks, those on the Props team in Prop Hunt will no longer have automatic regenerating health. Further, the Steel Chair from the Prop list on Checkmate has been removed.

Miyamoto's heartfelt tour of Super Nintendo World is too jolly to miss

3 years 3 months ago

Shigeru Miyamoto is having the time of his life in this walking tour of Super Nintendo World.

The proud father's happiness knows no bounds in this special 15-minute Nintendo Direct presentation, and it's transferring to me right through the screen. It'll likely be a few years before I can visit this theme park – it's opening in Japan on February 4 but won't be accessible in Hollywood, Orlando, or Singapore until later – and I've accepted that for now. But once it does open, it's on. I've gotta go one day.

During his tour, Miyamoto covered multiple areas including the inside of a Warp Pipe and the gift shop, he previewed the Power-Up Band and phone app, and he showed an exclusive Tokotoko Mario toy.

Definitely watch the Direct when you get a chance. It's a fun one.

Xbox Expanding Refund Policy to Allow for Cyberpunk 2077 Returns

3 years 3 months ago
Xbox has expanded its refund policy for Cyberpunk 2077 to ensure that anyone who purchased CD Projekt Red's latest game digitally from the Microsoft Store can be fully reimbursed. Those interested can request a refund for Cyberpunk 2077 through Microsoft's support page, and this move comes after Sony's decision to not only offer refunds for all Cyberpunk 2077 players, but also remove it from the PS Store indefinitely. Unlike Sony, Microsoft does not appear to be removing the game from its online store. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/12/18/sony-pulls-cyberpunk-2077-from-ps-store-will-offer-refunds"] "To ensure that every player can get the experience they expect on Xbox, we will be expanding our existing refund policy to offer full refunds to anyone who purchased Cyberpunk 2077 digitally from the Microsoft Store, until further notice," Xbox Support wrote on Twitter.

You'll want to take the best possible gear into Destiny's toughest multiplayer challenge, which is why you should drop by and visit Xur this weekend to grab some new Exotics. Head to The EDZ, to the Winding Cove area, to find Xur this week. For his weapon, Xur is offering The Jade Rabbit. Hunters can pick up the Foetracer helmet; for Titans, there's the Severance Enclosure chest armor; and for Warlocks, Xur has the Felwinter's Helm helmet.

Xur Location

Climb the cliff on the north end of Winding Cove to find Xur waiting for you near a crashed Fallen dropship.

Head to the Winding Cove transmat zone and spawn in, then jump on your sparrow and head north. Make your way to the northern edge of the area and either climb the rock wall there or find a cave pathway on the left side, near the curving highway road. New Ghost Of Tsushima Outfits Brings Horizon Zero Dawn, God Of War, And More In-Game

3 years 3 months ago

Starting now, a new update allows for a special PlayStation crossover with games like Shadow of the Colossus, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, and Bloodborne are adding their influence into the world of Ghost of Tsushima

How players can get these outfits is by playing Story and/or Survival missions with each class, doing so will unlock all four outfits:

Players will have from now until January 15, 2021 to earn the unlockable outfits, making this a pretty cool little event to celebrate other PlayStation-exclusive titles. It's not Bloodborne 2 (we can dream), but it is a fun way to keep that brutal love going a little more.

Ghost Of Tsushima: Legends Adds Unlockable God of War, Bloodborne, and Other PlayStation Costumes

3 years 3 months ago
Sucker Punch Productions has updated Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, adding a set of unlockable PlayStation costumes based on platform exclusives God of War, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Shadow of the Colossus, and Bloodborne. The news was revealed in a tweet from the official Ghost of Tsushima account, which notes that the special costumes can be unlocked by playing any Story or Survival mission with each class to unlock the corresponding outfit. The outfits will be available until January 15, 2021. You can see what they look like in the gallery below: [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=ghost-of-tsushima-playstation-skins&captions=true"] The Samurai skin is based on Kratos from God of War and is covered in evocative bloody swirls. The hunter class riffs off of Aloy from Horizon: Zero Dawn, with custom headgear and an embroidered dress. The Hunter skin takes cues from Shadow of the Colossus, with a colossi mask and custom patterned garb. Finally, the Ronin Bloodborne skin is serving big Eileen the Crow vibes with its feathered pauldrons. It's a neat incentive to get players to check out Ghost of Tsushima's co-op mode. We scored Ghost of Tsushima a 9 at launch, calling it an "excellent action game". The game also won the Player's Voice award at The Game Awards 2020. Among Us, Monster Train and more hit Xbox Game Pass for PC

3 years 3 months ago

Yesterday, Xbox Game Pass for PC got a couple of tasty additions to it’s already very good lineup of games. Everyone’s favourite new smash-hit murder ’em up Among Us has joined the party, along with RPS faves Monster Train and Wilmot’s Warehouse.

There’s a bunch more too, including The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan. Plenty to keep us all busy over the winter holidays then. (Or rather, plenty to distract me from playing the two giant new RPGs I don’t think I’ll ever finish.)

Assassin's Creed Valhalla gets festive with a Yule event

3 years 3 months ago

Ah, what could be more festive than getting very drunk and starting a brawl?

Valhalla's Yule Festival is now live, and brings with it some festive changes to your Viking settlement from 17th December to 7th January. You can expect lots of snow in Ravensthorpe, along with revellers and a variety of Yuletide activities to keep you entertained, including drunken brawls, archery challenges "and more". Taking part in these activities earns you Yule Tokens which can be redeemed for a range of goodies in the Festival Shop. You can take a peek at the list here.

It's worth noting, however, that this event only unlocks once you've completed one of the story arcs (such as Grantebridgescire or Ledecestrescire), and the rewards can only be redeemed during up until 7th January. The items range from 15 to 150 tokens in price, with the sum total of all the items reaching 775. Players have found that the maximum you can earn in a challenge is 70 tokens by doing a full round of brawling, so if you want everything, you could be there a while.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 10.0 Patch Notes Are Here

3 years 3 months ago

The handsome, villainous swordsman from Final Fantasy VII, Sephiroth, has made his way into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, along with a new stage, new Mii Fighter costumes, and a variety of memorable tunes from the iconic JRPG. The game also received a new update, and Nintendo has released the 10.0 patch notes, which we’ll list below.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t that big of an update in terms of character adjustments. This update is essentially all just for Sephiroth, but there will be another patch coming on Dec. 22 that will most definitely balance out some of the fighters, like usual.

Here are the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 10.0 patch notes from the official Nintendo support page:

New tech allows AI to detect toxicity in voice chat, but I think humans might be too smart for it

3 years 3 months ago

Toxicity in games is no fun, and in this year of our lord 2020, there seems to be a growing trend of using artificial intelligence to find and deal with toxic players. I don’t just mean in text chat either; the companies Modulate and FaceIt have both created AI that can supposedly detect toxicity in voice chat from the way that someone says something.

Part of me that feels like this is a good idea. Having a way of quickly and easily getting rid of them is great. However, I’ve heard one too many stories about AI learning to be racist, so I do wonder if it’s the best sort of tech to put in video games.

Xbox players can close out 2020 with a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 trial

3 years 3 months ago

As someone who just got Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 the other week and has been even more hooked on it than I was expecting, let me just say, it's a great note to end 2020 if at all possible. I figured I'd max out a skater or two at most before moving on, but I'm feeling the call. I can't put this remaster down.

If you're in the mood for high-scoring antics on classic levels set to a warm-and-fuzzy nostalgic soundtrack – if you're in the mood for pure and good video game vibes in general – then you might want to make some room in your weekend plans for the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 trial on Xbox One.

The trial is one hour long, and it will be downloadable until January 4, 2021. That time is gonna fly.

Plenty of you already picked up THPS 1+2 over the past few months since launch, and plenty more of you are planning to get it when the time is right, but if you need more convincing, demo it.

As with most of you, I'm ready for THPS 3+4 to materialize.
