Days Gone Director Wanted To Make An Uncharted Prequel Starring Young Sully

2 years 1 month ago

Days Gone director Jeff Ross wanted to make an Uncharted prequel.

During an interview with Sacred Symbols (via VGC), Ross explained what his Uncharted prequel would have been all about.

“Victor Sullivan at the age of 25 in a very stylised world where… it would be around 1976, I think is where we figured out his age might be,” he explained.

Sony Bend was at one point reportedly working on a new Uncharted game… and while many thought it was likely an Uncharted sequel, it could be that this was actually Jeff Ross’s young Sully prequel.

And it’s certainly an interesting concept.

“He busted out of the Navy for reasons, and I thought seeing him young and trying to figure out his way in this world going from trying to be a soldier or you know a military man to now I’m just out on the streets and I’m gonna become a hustler,” he added.

After Sony failed to greenlight Days Gone 2, the director wanted to work on something new and began putting together ideas for this unmade Uncharted game.

Elden Ring Preorders Are Already Down to £40 Before Release

2 years 1 month ago

Elden Ring is one of the biggest and most anticipated games of the month, and probably the whole of 2022 as well. It's a huge game, and you can preorder it for just £40 right now. Yes, I didn't stutter, preorders are down to as little as £40 before the release day of February (see here).

All you need to do is head over to Currys, and enter code SWNEXTDAY at checkout. Make sure to select free delivery on the game, and you'll be getting the new From Software game for just £40. It'll even arrive on time, on release day as well - what a result.

This Elden Ring Preorder Deal is Incredible

Considering how many other games are coming out this month, February is already looking mighty expensive. But, with impressive preorder deals like this, we can all breathe a sigh of relief that we're not spending £70 per game.

In case you missed it, you can also pick up Horizon Forbidden West for £53 at Amazon right now (see here). It's the PS4 version, but that also includes a free PS5 upgrade, so you're saving £17 overall which is a great deal, especially for a PlayStation game at launch.

Halo Infinite Developers Finally Explain Those Lag Issues

2 years 1 month ago

343 Industries has finally released an update to help fix Halo Infinite's long-term lag problems, and confirmed it is working on long term solutions too.

For the first time since Halo Infinite released on December 8, 343 Industries has addressed the problems by offering an explanation and partial solution in a blog post on its website.

Since launch, players have encountered various syncing issues in the game such as accurate shots that don't connect, melee attacks going through enemies, and bullets twisting around corners.

Lead Engineer of the Sandbox team, Richard Watson, said in the post: "In Halo, we choose to favour the shooter. Practically, this means that whatever happened on the shooter’s screen the server endeavours to honour. That means whenever a player sees themselves hitting a target, our system does its best to give them the hit on the server."

The studio has outlined a few partial solutions to reduce, but not necessarily eliminate, the issue. Matchmaking will now more consistently connect players living close to each other to improve connections.

The update should also prevent players from manipulating Halo Infinite to connect them to servers near to them, which forces other players to have poorer connections.

Watson added that the update is "already shown promising results and should take further advantage of this morning's changes."

Genshin Impact Pre-Installation Function to Appear Before 2.5 Update

2 years 1 month ago

Genshin Impact Pre-Installation

A pre-installation function will be available once again for Genshin Impact players. This will appear shortly before the release of the Genshin Impact version 2.5 update. However, this feature will only be available for Android, iOS, and PC users. Pre-installation will be available starting on February 14, 2022. miHoYo detailed how to enable the function through its official website.

There will be a slight difference between enabling the pre-installation function on the PC and mobile versions of Genshin Impact. Pre-installation for the PC version of the game will simply require users to activate the feature through the PC launcher by clicking on the "Game Pre-Installation" button.

Android and iOS users can enable the pre-installation feature within the Genshin Impact app. To do this, they will need to go to the Settings via the Paimon menu, choose "Other," and then select "Pre-Installation Resource Package." However, a second method is available. This can be done through the login screen of the mobile version of the game. There will be a "Pre-Install Resource Package" button on the lower left-hand side of the login screen.

Players will need to make sure to update their game on February 14, 2022 in order to see the feature. Once users have updated their game, they can then access the pre-installation function.

Bastard!! Anime Gets Promising First Teaser Trailer From Netflix

2 years 1 month ago

If there is a manga that I’d have never expected to be adapted into a new anime, it’s Bastard!!, and yet, I’m being proven wrong.

Japanese studio Liden Films is working on two seasons of an anime adaptation that will stream worldwide on Netflix in Summer 2022.

The announcement trailer is actually rather promising, and it feels like the spirit of the original manga, which is not exactly family-friendly, is being respected. Of course, considering that we’re talking about Netflix, we’ll have to reserve judgment until the anime actually airs, considering that we’ve been burned many times.

We also hear that protagonist Dark Schneider, Arshes Nei, Kall-Su, Kai Harn, and Tia Noto Yoko will get new figures by Medicos.

Below you can take a look at Bastard!!’s teaser trailer and the announcement livestream subtitled in English.

Keep in mind that some are painted prototypes, some are unpainted “grey” prototypes, and some are announcements limited to an illustration.

Most will be made available for pre-order in the next few weeks and months, and we’ll definitely do our best to keep you posted on when they do.

The pictures are all courtesy of Good Smile Company and AmiAmi, alongside two videos published by Good Smile focusing on WonHobby 35.

If you want to see more figures, you can also check out the gallery from Wonder Festival 2022 Winter, hosted a few days ago.

Lost Ark is blowing up and I can totally see why

2 years 1 month ago

I love this trend of MMOs making you feel really powerful from the beginning. It's so refreshing, and joyful. There's none of this power austerity, none of this 'yes you can be powerful but you'll have to earn it, young one'. Games like Black Desert Online and now Lost Ark just want to be fun right away, and it's great.

In fact, playing Lost Ark feels more like playing late-game Diablo 3 than an MMO - and I mean immediately. You immediately get several dazzling skills you can pulverise hordes of enemies with - and you do. You smash them up in the air, you crackle and fizz with lightning, and they pop like gory balloons around you. It's brilliant fun.

First, here's the new Atelier Ryza 2 figure. In it, Ryza is wearing a swimsuit that looks a little similar to the Tropical Summer swimsuit available as DLC in the game. There's also a Puni made out of sand at her feet.

Another character from Hades is being made into a Nendoroid, as Thanatos is in the works. Good Smile Company made the announcement during WonHobby 35. The character is still early in development, however. Rather than showing off an unpainted prototype, only concept art of the upcoming figure appeared.

Here's a closer look at how Thanatos might look. It seems like he'll arrive armed with his scythe. That's his go-to weapon in Hades.

As a reminder, pre-orders for the Zagreus Nendoroid are open until March 9, 2022. That figure comes with the character and his Stygian Blade. He also comes with Nectar.
